- In a dry unforgiving part of Australia, a man and his wife have set up home and live stock to make their living. Just when it seemed the drought and lack of finances were getting to be too much, things change: BP is looking for a suitable area to attempt the world land speed record.

- Presumed dead, flying ace Charles Dobson is found afloat on a raft at sea, after being released by the Japanese. The Meatheads try to unlock the secret to why the Japanese have set up shop with anti-aircraft batteries overnight on an island seemingly with no importance. Dobson's strange behavior brings about suspicion in Boyington.
- The navy whisks Boyington and other squadron leaders away and tells them to pick five men for a top secret mission where five men from each will have fly until out of gas and ditch in the ocean, hoping to be picked up. Angered, Boyington comes up with an alternate plan and enlists the help of his flying meatball circus. But Boyington isn't sure what is more dangerous, flying a mission over multiple Japanese carriers, or his men butting heads with professionally dressed, by-the-book Navy men.

- In 1876 Ernest Pratt, an imperfect man with vices, is a struggling writer of a series of books based on his popular and fictional character Nicodemus Legend. After being mistaken as Legend, Pratt is enlisted by a helpless group of town folk to once again help them, against a powerful female land owner and the town's sheriff in her pocket.
- After his car is stolen, Chance recovers it but is missing a camera, but the remaining camera has pictures taken by the thief, including one that looks like a young woman with a gun to her head. Investigating it and trying to recover his other camera which contains illegal waste dumping, Chance is caught up in a dangerous kidnapping situation. During the whole ordeal, chance must try again and again to pass a driving test to get his license back.
- Chance has a chance encounter at a movie set with a woman claiming to be married to the star of the picture, whom is supposedly hiding their marriage and has had her children taken away from her, but questions of her sanity coming into play. Chance visits his adopted parents to hopefully clear up the mystery of his missing brother, Eric.
- Mistaken for hired hitman, Chance is drawn into a plot to have somebody killed and once the mistake is found out, Chance most both stop the plot and keep himself from being a second victim. Anne asks for Chance's help talking to one of two suspected White Supremacy Militia members after desecrating a Jewish cemetery and beating a man up, believing one of them is hiding more information.
- After chance brings a woman into the diner who gives birth, Angie decides she wants to ride along with him to experience one of his exciting days where anything could happen, so at a house to photograph a potato that looks like Elvis, the Elvis potato is stolen. During the theft where Angie held the potato, somehow Chance's luck is transfered to her and a series of weird and dangerous events transpire beginning with a murder.
- Chance accidentally befriends a young hockey player who's on the verge of a multi million dollar professional career, but is too wild and uncaring to keep it together. When his behavior endangers the contract, his father and an associate force him to stay in line.
- During their fishing trip, Chance and Angie see a man falling from the sky to his death. Another man parachutes down and attacks Chance at night. In the hospital, Chance flatlines and has a vision of his mother who open up about the past.
- Chance is asked to hold onto a mysterious black cube by a man in an accident. Nobody knows what it is, but everybody is out to steal it from Chance. During this all, Chance finds the house he grew up in, and a box that contains leads to his past and well and potentially his brother.
- Chance finds his long-lost brother, Eric. But just as Chance's life seems to get better, his brother's goes bad, with his wife apparently murdered, his house bombed, and her employer after him, Chance helps his brother find out what is really going on.
- Chance encounters the daughter of a church minister whom can apparently cure people just by touching them and praying. A rich dying man whom believes she has a gift, despite her father telling him God works through her, sends his men out to find her so that she might heal him, but she remains on the run.
- An old girlfriend from Chance's past, once accused of murdering her husband, calls Chance out of the blue late at night. After she rekindles her feelings for chance, her new supposedly abusive husband suddenly meats an untimely fate. Chance trades in his old beat-up car for a car a guy died in, in hopes of having a better vehicle.
- An old friend of Chance's falls in love with a girl Chance save's the life of. But during a bachelor party which winds up having Chance and his friend arrested, Chance learns his friend won't be released because of drug trafficking charges. His friend Dave announces he's getting married to the woman after knowing her briefly. While this is going on, Chance and Audrey are finding out Dave and his wife-to-be, are not exactly who they appear to be.
- Chance learns for the first time Angie has a son, when she tells Chance her son has been arrested for murder. After two million dollars is deposited into Chance's bank account without his knowledge and a warning message on the ATM machine computer screen, bad things start happening in chance's life.
- Jim Rockford tries to help his friend's son rise out of poverty and homelessness, but soon discovers the young man's problems are far more complicated than he imagined.
- Chance is struck by lightening and slips into a coma. His brother, Eric, visits him in the hospital after receiving an e-mail from an unknown person. Eric's discovers that the flight their family died on, was no accident, and that their father, Robert Saunders, was a government spy with a conscious whom may have not died on the flight.
- Three young people, led by the unstable but shrewd Carrie (played by Brittany Murphy), hold up a commuter tunnel train for social security checks being transported but when they are not found and realize the train will soon come to the next stop, they halt the train and take everybody hostage, including Nash, Joe, Harvey, and Eve. Meanwhile, Lisa takes Cassidy to the emergency room when her daughter complains of severe pains but triage is a nightmare.
- Tensions rise in the office after a local magazine names Lisa cutest reporter in New York. After Joe alerts Bill that he's had his treble all the way down in his car and turns it up, Bill becomes shocked and outraged over the lyrics rap music has, previously not hearing them without the treble.
- Mr. James is going on a fishing vacation. So Mr James can remain in touch with the office, Joe sets up a two-way satellite box. It drives the staff crazy since they must take it around the office. Also, a new complaint box is installed and promptly abused.
- Mr. James brings in a group of little kids to the office for mentoring by the staff while he takes their teacher out to dinner. Dave goes on the hunt to find out who's been leaving porno magazines in the break room, while Lisa struggles with the possibility it might be Dave.
- Stranded in the St. Louis airport for days because of a snowstorm, Dave is forced to deal with Bill and his revolt against friendly Midwestern people. Back in New York City, Lisa tries to deal with being boss, though Mr. James doesn't show the enthusiasm she had hoped. Mr. James goes on a mission to stop Joe and Catherine from becoming romantically involved.
- Mr. James decides to rectify the stations continuing problem of being over budget by selling the office equipment and furnishings. Matthew's "twin" brother pays a visit, but the staff is perplexed and doubtful because neither "brother" looks alike. Bill alienates the entire office, who learn the contents of his secret contract with Mr. James.
- Rollie gets lured in by an old acquittance to be an assistant director on a low-budget film that has more going on behind the scenes than Rollie and Angie know. Francis deals with being suspended from the force and Leo considers a new employment avenue.
- After seriously injuring a hand, Matthew is in a hard spot not having any insurance, so Lisa comes up with a plan that Dave falsify a report. Bill causes a problem by repeatedly saying "penis" on air, both in a news story, and in a follow up apology for saying it.
- After Sanchez says she has promised the widow of a Scotland Yard detective who is murdered after being thrown from a plane she would solve the murder, Rollie helps Angie, Sanchez and an actress go under cover on the flying casino to close the case.
- Nash's brother has come back from M.I.A. and may be involved in the string of murders happening. With Joe on vacation, Nash must rely on the rest of the team for help. While Lisa is away, her sister stays to watch Cassidy, causing some disagreements with Nash.
- Lisa mistakenly believes she's been dumped by Dave, which Andrea finds out about and leads to an investigation of the relationship. Andrea deludes herself into thinking she and Lisa are friends. Bill causes Mr. James legal trouble after suggesting foreign diplomats be dragged out from cars and beaten for not paying parking tickets, and one subsequently is. Beth and Joe discover Matthew has a real talent.
- As the new boss, Lisa's attempt to make a good, serious first impression on the staff ends in epic failure. Dave, trying to get his job back, decides to become "pure evil" and unleash Bill, which doesn't bring the results he hoped for. Matthew is now living in Lisa's office, having been kicked out of his apartment.
- A prisoner facing a parole hearing sets up a bounty website to have Nash killed in order to avoid Nash keeping him locked away after the hearing. Nash worries that Cassidy's new boyfriend who she's serious about, may be playing for the other team.
- Lisa and Beth try to find out why Matthew has gotten a brother from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Dave seemingly becomes paranoid when Bill suggests Lisa has a secret new boyfriend, which leads Bill, Joe, and Mr. James on the hunt for whom the guy is.
- Using information secretly collected by secret office observers, Mr. James notices Dave and Lisa's productivity levels were higher when they were dating. Mr. James tries to get them back together, but when that fails, Bill steps in. Mr. James gets Matthew a small red car for his birthday, which he drives around the building and meets a girl with.
- After a co-worker nobody knew dies in a freak incident involving a copy machine Joe modified, Joe blames himself for the man's death. An old college friend of the departed shows up wanting to know more about him, and the staff, led by Bill, make up lies.
- Nash and Joe pose as gay PIs to find a wig stolen from a Cher impersonator; the mob targets a money launderer.
- A publicity hungry psycho who videotapes his attacks on women focuses on Michelle (Kelly Hu).
- Mr. James is arrested and held for possibly being the legendary bank robber D.B. Cooper. Johnny Johnson arrives to fill his place, much to Mr. James' dismay; Johnson quickly makes positive impressions on the staff. Afraid Lisa is uncovering to much damning evidence on Mr. James, he assigns Matthew to the story.
- With Mr. James on the loose after breaking out of prison, Dave and Lisa must try to get the green duffel bag away from Johnny Johnson, which is made harder since Lisa has the hots for Johnny. The rest of the staff refuses to believe Johnny is evil.
- Olga's husband Josef, a Russian chrononaut presumed dead after disappearing in a failed Russian time travel program, shows up after seven years of being missing. Claiming to be from over 30 years in the future, Josef says he has come back to bring Olga with him to the future, but Ramsey and Parker strongly suspect things aren't what they appear to be.
- Now living in the U.S., Elena -- a survivor of a despotic South American nation -- sees and confronts a killer, Ponce, who helped massacred a small village. Mr. Chapel happens to witness Ponce attack Elena, and decides to do something about it.
- Dave and Lisa fight over a new apartment and, needing a required reference, they each immediately go to Mr. James, who opts to let the staff decide who should receive the reference. To spice up the "crappy" WNYX website, Joe sets up a webcam in the breakroom.
- Wanting to leave a lasting legacy, Mr. James proposes to build a pair of 200-story buildings shaped like his initials. Freaking out over turning 30, Matthew shows up at work dressed and acting like a British punk rocker rebelling against society.
- Angry that the staff members do not even pretend to do their job and that they ignore him, Dave plans on firing somebody. Max and Matthew get Joe to teach them his special blended forms of karate, called Joe-Jitsu. Displeased with how Mother's Day cheapens motherhood, Mr. James goes on a mission to destroy Mother's Day.
