Driver Sven Burdenski ignores how a corpse got into a full laundry basket, which he got from beach hotel "Drei Möwen", where victim Loris Falter was a guest. Timmermann however realizes it's not the real Loris Falter, a harmless homeless hobo he knows and gets to admit he as paid for his identity card. The actual victim was brutally stabbed in his hotel room bath, and is identified as Marc Binz, long-missing playboy son of pickled herring baron Binz. Marc Binz wrecked the family firm and hies from his debtors, having countless enemies.
- Horse-riding, Gerald von Gungelitz breaks his bleeding neck due to a steel wire strung across his path. He is missed by his sister Gesine von Gungelitz and her teen son Jonathan, whom Frankfurt businessman Gerald von Gungelitz was visiting, at their manage, which he once ran with her, recovering after a bad divorce. Fresh widow Miriam Walbeck believed him on business conference trip in Hamburg, having received actually posthumous mails. Karsten actually engaged Karin Sellmann's semi-professional alibi-agency, which doesn't ask for clients' motives. His wife ignored that and his bastard son, ex-con Julian Voss, who allegedly turned good and regularly met Karsten in the marina. - Another female hand is found in the salt, again paralleling an 80 year old precedent. It's correspondingly followed by a second kidnapping: Franck Mercoeur's ex, Mathilde Viguier, who was doing her own research. He arrests Catherine's husband, Paul Creuzot, but must release him with apologies. Procureur (D.A.) Jérôme Farche takes Franck off the case for not being objective, but he continues, aided by Olivier. The only other person who consulted the 1918 archives, local history teacher, Patrick Carbonnier, shows his contract for a book on the early serial killer panic. Forensics indicate both bodies were in a rare cave type. This allows finding the slayer's layer, which isn't empty.
- Police detective Franck Mercoeur arrives from St.Nazaire with his deputy Olivier Morel to investigate when a posthumously chopped-off female hand is found in the open-air sea salt extraction of Gwenrann (Guérande) on Normandy's coast. They welcome assistance from forensic anthropologist Marion Ravel and her apprentice Maxime Nau. The scene fits the drawings of unidentified amnesiac schizophrenic 'Isabelle', a self-declared medium. The hand's (missing) wedding ring imprint and DNA confirm she must be Marie, the 90 years earlier disappeared grandmother of Isabelle's therapist Catherine Creuzot. Her husband Paul Creuzot, Franck's school friend, receives anonymously Marie's music box after Catherine disappears. Paul has an alibi. Rapist-kidnapper Grégory Bessi, the salt firm worker who reported the hand and Catherine's former patient, admits to have been paid 25,000 Euro anonymously to photograph her and dig up Marie's body.
- The cool kids make fun in class of shy Paul Baumann when he presents his unusual pet as a harmless python, an heirloom form his father. The fickle daughter objected to the move, until she instantly fell for Vandeplas's grandson Simon, whose band would be allowed to keep practicing in the garden shed. Fred quickly arranges an alternative buyer, who signs a contract first.
- Karel refuses to fire Stijn for his political naivety but gets an office again to keep on eye on him. Simon could be happy with Freja, despite Claire, who pretends not to miss him but plans her revenge. Alas, his mother becomes Hanne's psychotherapy patient, likely to spill the beans. Simon even starts a fistfight with a friend of hers. Stijn plans to show the Rodenburgs he can succeed ethically. Oliver helps Fred overcome the crucial politician's objections to the Greninge project their way.
- Simon and Freja realize Claire set him up with drugs. She turns on pa Stijn for meddling now, while absent almost always. Hanne takes their side and stops taking Lise's rape story on face value. Stijn's bullying makes Simon move out. Fred refuses to choose between wife and daughter after the sabotaged photo-shoot, so he demands Claire involves Maaike in her own contract negotiation. Posing as a journalist, Olivier finally meets and charms his flame, yet she scares back. After another fall, Karel despairs about his recovery. Bea makes Fred use the opportunity to bond with dad again. Blackmailer Jansen is back, for more.

He starts admiring the old-fashioned crab and lobster trap wicker making by local fisherman Jog, who hopes to reduce plastic waste. The climate is ideal for a world class plants collection, but the local bees are suffering from season difference and inbreeding, so a project is cross-breeding with a sturdier Cornish bee. Finally forts, manly from the Cromwellian era, and an old man's museum for the extraordinary numerous shipwrecks near the Scilly waters full of rocks, including a celebrated admiral's flagship and three more returning from a triumphant Mediterranean campaign. He celebrates with a super-sweet cake with butterscotch, using local honey.
- Mine engineer Jean Roland's son Pierre and his teenage mate, Albert Letong's son Fred, are bored having to spend the summer holidays with their colonial parents. Drinking and car racing cockily are bound to go wrong, but Guy's forensic investigation may run out of time. Helene proves she can neither run the plantation intelligently, nor handle the superstitious black staff. Luckily, Guy thus gets a brand-new second-hand 'cursed' car.

Guy is the only colonial to approve of the doc marrying black Hortense. Guy hounds mine supervisor François Stévenin, whom another nicker claims to have sired here mulatto baby, until his wife arrives to a horror scene.
- In 1957, native superstition objects to cutting a 'sacred' forest tract to expand the mine. To father Alexis's horror, his own young assistant Wim takes the African side. Guy gets a visit from his predecessor Karel Horemans, who thinks more like his present deputy Arthur. Luc's wife's unrealistic expectations and 'un-colonial' priorities wreck their marriage. She moves in with outcast doc Stevenin and his black wife.
- Fred can't stand Karel interfering in RIC and blowing off deals behind his back. It comes to a serious confrontation between father and son and Benedicte must choose sides. Her decision has serious consequences for the family. Despite Fred's refusal, and without his knowledge, Maaike has posed for a photo shoot in lingerie. Marie-Claire can not leave it to tease her stepmother and it comes to a fight between the two women. Fred realizes the conflicts between his wife and daughter have to stop. Marie-Claire has barely recovered from the battle with Maaike or she is tackled by a furious Freya. She seeks solace in the arms of her enigmatic cousin Daniel. Meanwhile Hanne realizes that Olivier was never intended to take her to his Cabinet when he turned Minister and does not want to have anything to do with him anymore. But will Olivier in fact become Minister?

Daniel assures Karel his mother has no reason to doubt his ability to graduate with honors while learning 'on the job'. Olivier curses the family name for side-tracking his political ambition. The whole family is staggered when Claudia Schneider sends them all a letter explaining Claire's mother isn't dead.
- Fred refuses to believe it, but at the family meeting Marie-Claier called for Claudia proves to hold her proxy, hence half of WestStar, tempting Daniel to switch sides to her. Once loyal financial director Antoine tells Stijn Fred is selling off the lucrative Singapore participation, urging him to lever-raise the buy-out sum, for which Camilia's inheritance, which he formally accepts, makes a good start.
- The Rodenburgs don't bounce back easily now it becomes clear Claire's bitch-mother is staying at WestStar's helm. Daniël is tempted to change sides but seems loyal. The race for the parking concession is vital for RIC according to Karel. Olivier still can't cope with his political defeat and ends up drunk in bed with Freya. Stijn uses the inheritance to leverage-buy the Singapore participation, which he insists Antoine should invest in too.
- After their drunk sex night, Olivier and unconscious Freya had a car accident. He left her behind the wheel and fled. The police arrests her as only suspect. Another stupid interview further harms her case, but Stijn hires a lawyer. Karel feels the risks if caught are to great for Olivier, so he arranges a consulate job in Vienna and tricks him to take the plane for Austria. Fred is too much obsessed with finding his brat to notice Antoine has already sold the Singapore participation to Stijn and accepts to pass on insider information on the parking concession. Daniel seems to enjoy doing business with Claudia, who passed on to him Fred's company Ferrari. .
