- On the eve of selling her mother's house, a thirty-something housewife wakes up to a hangover surrounded by her best friends from high school, who were used to partying in the house in an earlier era, and stirring memories of old teenage games and truths revealed about loves lost.

- Jock insists on minding the office while JR goes to Washington, D.C. for more reasons than just business while Sue Ellen finds business of her own in the arms of JR's arch rival, Cliff Barnes. Things get complicated, though, when Sue Ellen finds out about her own predicament. Pam is torn between her job promotion, which means she'll have a buying trip to Paris, or standing by Bobby while he throws a business party.
- After over seven years of hoping to become a mother, Sue Ellen decides to attempt adoption behind JR's back. After finding a young woman named Rita who's willing to give up her baby, Sue Ellen unexpectedly bonds with her. Bobby is not too thrilled at the prospect of his wife, Pamela, turning down the idea of a baby while contemplating the idea of returning to the workforce.
- Infuriated by Bobby getting stonewalled by his brother, JR, Jock confronts JR about it and suffers a heart attack during the process. While Bobby fills in at the ranch, JR takes it upon himself to make a deal under the table that involves Section 40 of Southfork and doing something he knows will only upset his father.
- JR finds out that a friend of Pam's used to be a friend of his, as well, and has no problem taking advantage of that former friendship in an attempt to put some muscle on the man who put Cliff Barnes in power as head of the OLM. Bobby and Ray cross paths with the son of another independent oil man while attempting to corner some cattle rustlers. Sue Ellen's drinking begins to get the better of her, which only infuriates JR.
- Having bragged about being able to sink to JR's level, Bobby does just that. Miss Ellie returns from Galveston with a new outlook on the race between her sons. Clayton decides to sell his ranch in San Angelo, while Cliff goes berserk when he finds out that what happened between Afton and Gil Thurman was really true. Lucy tells Ray the real reason why Mickey was delinquent in performing his duties on the ranch.
- Pam's secret comes out when her ex-husband returns to Dallas after having been locked in a Vietnamese prison camp and several years in a hospital. Only her ex-husband, Ed, claims that their marriage was never annulled, and no one can find any documents to prove otherwise, which not only hurts Bobby emotionally, but financially, as his new construction company has trouble getting off the ground with a church looking to build a new school.
- When Cliff announces that he's running for State Senate, it puts the Ewing clan on high alert and gets a candidate of their own. Things get ugly when Pam inadvertently tells Jock and Jr about Cliff's past relationship, both in the political ring and between Pam and Cliff, itself.
- While having lunch with her friends, Sue Ellen spots JR with another woman (again). Infuriated, she packs her bags and leaves Southfork, ready to leave the Ewing name behind and spend her life with another man. But when JR gets wind of who the other man is, he has no problem giving his own father what HE wants... his own grandchild back on Southfork. Meanwhile, Ray comes across the name of a roughneck who was supposedly working on an oil crew on Section 40.
- Katherine continues to plot to win Bobby by talking Pam into going to France with Mark Graison. JR plots to go to Cuba to retrieve his lost money. Cliff plots to take over for Bobby in the Canadian oil deal, and Holly plots to try one more time to get JR out of Harwood Oil.
- Miss Ellie's long-lost brother, Garrison, returns to Southfork, putting Miss Ellie in Heaven but Jock and JR through Hell, as they believe that the elder Southworth has designs on regaining title to the ranch... and that it was a lovely young woman accompanying him that put the idea in Garrison's head.
- JR has enough with his family and their concern over the danger Sue Ellen goes through with her drinking. Having her institutionalized only infuriates her to the point where she escapes, only to get in an accident which puts the life of her baby as well as her own at greater risk.
- When Julie Grey returns to Dallas, she gets back in Jock's good graces instead of JR's. When Jock's sons get wind of what's going on, it sets up a wall between Jock, JR and Bobby. But when JR blabs about where Jock's whereabouts to Miss Ellie, it is SHE who takes matters into her own hands when it comes to the affairs of her marriage.
- After Pam leaves Southfork, Holly gets the cold shoulder in her chance meeting with Bobby, as he's beginning to think the only thing left for him to do is throw himself into the fight for Ewing Oil, whole-heartedly. The Barnes-Wentworth clan gather for the reading of Rebecca's will. JR begins to unload his gas stations as Walt Driscoll returns from the Carribbean with money for the illegally-sold oil.
- Having decided to contest Jock's will, Miss Ellie meets with resistance from JR, Bobby, and Harve Smithfield, who must defend the will and recommends someone else to her. Donna meets with resistance from the Texas Energy Commission when she stands her ground about JR's variance.
- Cliff goes nuts at JR & Sue Ellen's dance, resulting in half the wedding party taking an unscheduled dip in the pool. Afton later admits to Cliff her part in his securing the purchase of his oil refinery from Gil Thurman and Bobby reveals his knowledge of JR being behind Harwood Oil.
- Blame is placed and accepted all over the Barnes-Wentworth, Ewing, and oil community when Rebecca dies as a result of a mid-air collision of the company jet. JR's variance is revoked and he scrambles to find where his next big profit is coming from. Meanwhile, Holly tries, once again, to rid her company of him.
- J.R. tries to drive Gary off of Southfork again.
- Young Lucy's upcoming birthday party has everyone excited for various reasons, except Lucy, who can't even invite her mother to the party. It's only after she decides to run away and takes off when she finally gets her family's attention... and the attention of a young drifter, who has more intentions than just those toward Lucy.
- When Cliff gets his hands on a document proving dirty dealings between a state senator and Ewing Oil, he turns it over to the State of Texas for investigation. But, after finding out about a possible mole, JR turns on Pam, putting her marriage to Bobby in serious jeopardy.
- With Pam still living outside of Southfork, Sue Ellen's sister, Kristin, sets her sights on Bobby, and JR is very happy to see that and is more than willing to help her. Cliff's new found power results in an attack of the Ewings, particularly over a parcel of land that is costing Ewing Oil a lot of money when a land owner is not willing to allow them to drill for oil until he gets more for the royalties that may be involved.
- A routine flight back to Dallas turns hairy for JR and Bobby when they run into a storm. But when the storm forces the plane down, things get even more hairy around Southfork when Miss Ellie decides to keep the news from Jock, fearing his heart won't be able to stand the stress, which gets even more difficult when the press forces themselves onto the ranch, looking for a comment from the family.
- Battle lines are drawn across the globe, as Bobby needs the Canadian oil fields to come in, but fears they won't without Barnes-Wentworth new drill bit, and the deciding vote is sitting in comfort in France with Mark Graison, who's really putting the romantic pressure on Pam. Cliff denies the bit to him because he wants Bobby's deal in Canada for himself. Katherine wants Bobby to have the bit because she wants Bobby for herself. When JR returns from Cuba, Sue Ellen and Holly Harwood haggle over his fidelity, so she sets the stage for Sue Ellen to find out for herself.
- Miss Ellie and Pam meet with Mark Graison in hopes of his family releasing Brooks Oliver to help break Jock's will. Donna is ready to give up on the Texas Energy Commission and JR, who goes on TV in an effort to boost more support from the common man, only to further the hatred of him among the oil industry. And Bobby has found a loophole to force the Cartel to re-open the Wellington field.
- After hearing Ray trying to pawn the job off on one of the ranch hands, Pam gets more than she bargained for when she arranges to see that Lucy gets to school. Meanwhile, J.R. deals with his younger brother, Bobby, by ducking him when he tries to find out how J.R. is so successful when it comes to dealing with other independent oil companies.
- Unable to rid Cliff Barnes of his power on their own, the Ewings turn to Sam Culver in an attempt to prove the state government that Cliff is abusing his authority in matters concerning Ewing Oil. Sam, a former senator and governor, has a lot of friends that would listen to him... if the Ewings can only get him to speak on their behalf. Unfortunately, JR's involvement in Sam's marriage to a woman much younger than he only further complicates matters, rather than simplifying them.
- Heated tensions remain as the hearing concerning Jock's will approaches. Everyone learns that if Jock's will is overturned, it would result in Ray and Gary receiving almost nothing as a result. JR learns from Sue Ellen that Mark Graison is interested in Pam. Bobby, having forced the Cartel's hand, feels the outside pressure on Ewing Oil, as well.
- One by one, people are finding out about Julie Grey's return to Dallas. But no one is more interested than Jeb Ames or Willie Joe Garr, who know that they may both be implicated in JR's dirty dealings, all noted in "the red file", which Julie knows all about. Ray's snooping around for a man named Charlie Waters results in a beating he won't soon forget.
- Shock sets in across the Dallas area of Julie Grey's death...all except for JR, whose intent on framing Cliff Barnes for her murder knows no bounds. Matters aren't helped any either when Pam moves out of Southfork, which only puts a wider smile on his face. On the other hand, Bobby, intent on saving his marriage, does his best to get Cliff out of the jam he's in.
- Bobby tries to get cooler heads to prevail with Ray and JR, who points out that Ray and Bobby are just as responsible for Mickey's condition as he is. Clayton has a little trouble keeping Miss Ellie from finding out about the fire at Southfork, while Harv Smithfield discusses his intentions when JR and Bobby agree to give up the fight for control of Ewing Oil.
- Digger Barnes returns to Dallas and collapses in Cliff's apartment which is followed by a visit to the hospital and it's revealed that Digger carries a neurological disease that turns out to be hereditary. Although Cliff and Pam are fine, any children that they may bear have a lower-than-normal mortality rate, which puts Pam's marriage to Bobby in jeopardy and Cliff wonders about his son... John Ross Ewing III.
- When Bobby and Ray pull a sting operation on Driscoll, JR starts dancing for the Cubans as he tries to retrieve his money, leaving Driscoll to rot in jail. Bobby finds out that Pam had lunch with Mark Graison and Lucy grows closer to Mickey Trotter, compelling her to be honest with him about what happened with Roger. Katherine proposes a deal to JR that would benefit the both of them.
- Oilmen boycott JR's wedding to Sue Ellen as they are all up in arms over his variance to pump oil at full capacity. Meanwhile, JR rubs Cliffs nose in the fact that he's re-marrying Sue Ellen by inviting him to the wedding. Other guests include Clayton Farlow, who tries to help console Miss Ellie over the fight between JR and Bobby. In an effort to fight JR's variance, the state of Texas is willing to create a different oil commission, but only if Donna will serve on the committee.
- Ray has fallen for Garnet McGee, the hottest new country singer in town, but she is ambitious and her career comes first, so she turns her affections to rich J.R. who gladly offers to finance her music. Ray becomes dangerously jealous.

With the hands off for the day to attend a festival in San Antonio, the ranch looks even more deserted when the only ones packing guns and giving orders on Southfork are the strangers.
- The Tardis materializes on the Earth-like planet of Tara. The Doctor goes fishing while Romana finds the fourth segment of the Key to Time but the powerful Count Grendel mistakes her for an android and brings her to his castle.

- Magnum is tasked with protecting a young tennis pro who is being threatened.
- Magnum goes on a soul-searching trek after a being terminated from a case he couldn't solve. His trip leads him to the top of a mountain where he spotted an old plane crash from WWII, only to be pinned under the fuselage, leg bleeding, and trying to keep from going delirious when he can't free himself.
- As she sees Steve as a nice young man and a possible future son-in-law, Kate has his best interests and his welfare in mind. She believes his life as a pilot is a dangerous one and as such she would like to see him in a different profession. So when she learns that Steve has a journalism background, she tries to convince Sam to turn over the running of the Hooterville World Guardian to Steve. Sam agrees as he doesn't have time to do the newspaper justice. With no crop dusting work to be had in the valley, Steve accepts the offer. This move doesn't sit well with Uncle Joe, the supposed president of the Carson-Elliott crop dusting dynasty. To show Kate that this move was one done in error, Joe goes on a quest for crop dusting business from their valley neighbors. With seemingly no bugs infesting the crops and thus no business, Joe tries instead to manufacture some business through some devious means.

When he receives one, he begins searching for the woman behind the face in the sand in his vision. Meanwhile, back on DS9, Kira deals with a promotion and handling the decisions surrounding her command, and finding herself wishing for the return of Sisko. And Worf deals with the loss of his wife, Jadzia Dax.

- A Dominion attack on the Defiant endangers Dax, Bashir and O'Brien aboard the runabout U.S.S. Rubicon as they enter an anomaly that shrinks them to a very minute size. Unfortunately, they were being held stable by the Defiant within a tractor beam, which was discontinued during the attack.
- Quark's mother and the Grand Nagus show up on DS9, announcing a new amendment to the Bill of Opportunities he has instituted on the home planet of Ferenganar, and then follows up with the announcement, that, due to the new amendment, chaos has followed and he has been deposed.
- Kira finds herself on Cardassia as a Cardassian. She is told she is called Iliana Ghemor and was a Cardassian spy.
