Will Boroon return and become the leader he was meant to be or will the forces of doubt win? The Zamans and Zara face a big challenge. Maybe Laboni can help?

Can a woman avoid being condemned for agreeing to participate in such an event, or even worse, enjoying the encounter? These are the challenges that each character faces, seeking to establish some context to allow them to proceed to the expected sexual encounter. It is as though the ending were already written, and the couple is trying to fill in the preliminaries, so the ending might be justified. Chris Anderson's sensitive piano score provides the perfect background for the scene.

- Ten Five in the Grass is a 16mm film about Black cowgirls and cowboys preparing themselves for the rodeo event of calf roping. Filmed in Lafayette, Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi, in the summer of 2011, the title refers to the type of rope used to capture fast calves. The film was awarded a Jury Prize at the 2012 Oberhausen Film Festival.

The film shows how the 1934 race marked the rise of "spin doctors," false or manipulated news, and the modern campaign techniques that will continue to dominate political campaigning in 2022 and beyond.

By the end of the war, he is taking up a job offer with Paris Match, and beginning his short career as a photojournalist. Little more than a decade later, while capturing enduring images of the Budapest uprising of 1956, he is fatally injured. I meet people who shared his reportage, trips and adventures: photographers Russ Melcher, Willy Rizzo, Franz Goess, Benno Graziani and Erich Lessing. And I speak to his colleague Mario De Biasi, present in 1956 on Republic Square in Budapest when Jean-Pierre Pedrazzini falls under a hail of bullets on the Battle of the AVO headquarters. I visit Dominique Lapierre, too, with whom Jean-Pierre Pedrazzini published a book about the trip that they did through the USSR in early 1956, accompanied by their wives: at that time a first. In Tbilisi I meet the surgeon Georgi Mossechvili who hosted the two French couples during their trip. The film broadens our perspective on Pedrazzini's work, exploring not only drama of the famous Budapest pictures, but the full scope of his earlier work which led him there.

- Emergency Needs is an experimental work, considering the July 1968 Hough Riots and the Glenville Shootout in Cleveland, Ohio and the response to the crisis, as observed in color footage from a local press conference, by Mayor Carl B. Stokes. Stokes, the first Black mayor of a major American city, maintains calm and measured composure; his demeanor and words help diffuse an already incendiary situation. Actress Esosa Edosomwan, dressed in suit and tie, delivers Stokes' statements. The footage of Stokes and filmed performance of Edosomwan is rendered in split screen and combined with footage/reportage from the streets. The film was a commission of IFFR's Meet the Maestro homage to the films of Gus Van Sant and was a featured work in the 2008 Whitney Biennial in New York City.
