- A game show that pits comedian against comedian in an "improv" style format as they ad-lib their way to the winner's circle. The comic teams are given situations that they must improvise a skit while adding as much comic stick as possible, in order to get the biggest laugh and applause on the audience noise meter.
- Up and coming Yuppie family deals with the stress of family life and working in Washington D.C. in overly demanding jobs. Situations. The daughter (O'Rourke) gets into interesting life situations, add to the comedy as the Yuppie parents try to juggle both worlds and multitask their way through life.

The story that seemed most lame wins, but the prize money goes to the person that helped them out, and whom they have never paid back, hence the title "Pay It Back"

Steve Landesberg plays the lead public defender. Rita Moreno is the judge, and Clint Howard is the criminal defendant.
- The Patriarch of the O'Brien family is a disabled sports journalist trying to balance his career from home and the family he is raising as a widower. Sean Austin plays one of his son, in a home setting akin to the "All in the Family" style set.
