Johnson is getting closer and closer to uncovering the truth about the Sun Hill fire, and unable to take the heat, Glaze decides to cut and run, with a robbery victim's cash.

Desperate to save her job, Cryer calls on her uncle, Bob, and the pair do some investigation into Bradford's lies. Sandra Malik, the doctor who Bradford harassed and framed, has moved to Australia, so they track down Petra McAvoy, whom Bradford beat up in the interview room. Petra is only too happy to make a statement, but once again, her evidence is called into question. Kent ignores Taviner's advice when he sympathizes with a depressed father and helps him get bail, but Kent's good deed has tragic and fatal consequences. Page's bail hearing is refused, and she is sent to prison.

- While speaking to WPC Ackland and PC Loxton about the problem of local dog mess, a woman is shot dead by a sniper.
- Sharpe is relieved that Joanna has been found alive and well, and upon further examination, evidence discovers that she was not harmed in any way, and when Joanna finally speaks out, she reveals that she wandered off of her own accord and became trapped in the derelict building. The identity of the dead child is finally discovered, and Kane and Nixon put out an all ports warning for the child's adoptive parents, in the hope that they will give up Ron Gregory. Meanwhile, Bradford is jealous when Kane starts dating a doctor, and decides to pull some very sneaky moves in an attempt to prize the pair apart. Meanwhile, Meadows gives Hunter an ultimatum - prove Ron Gregory's guilt or he will report him to the DPS.
- Murphy manages to get a confession from Taviner, when she presses him on his involvement in the station fire that killed six. CID's operation into the dodgy heroin dealer is compromised when Best tries to apologize to his father for assaulting him the day before. However, when the target pulls a gun, Alan stops him from shooting Best, but Alan is subsequently abducted. Will Best be able to thank his father and make it up with him, or is it too late? Taviner and Hollis chase a youth robbing the elderly, and when an elderly man is stabbed, his wife has a heart attack and dies of the shock. Taviner is angered, and beats up the prime suspect when Kane refuses to take any action. Taviner is furious when Gold tells him that Murphy is bound for New Scotland Yard with Okaro, fearing she will expose his role in the station fire. When another robbery comes in over the radio, Taviner's pursuit of the prime suspect ends in a chemical warehouse, sending a massive explosion through the building and the Area Car.

Reg rushes to the hospital. Jim catches the prisoners but over steps the mark when one of them mocks Ken's death. June struggles in the aftermath. Tony tells Jim off. Neil in breaks-down when Gina confirms Andrea was found dead in the building. Okaro briefs the relief. Gabriel stands emotionless.

- PC McCann is convinced that a gun remains unaccounted for when a gang of armed robbers is captured.

Supt Heaton sends Sgt Smith undercover, with DC Moss posing as his girlfriend, to expose a gun running racket.
- Lennox attempts to find a missing Nixon, but he and Taviner instead find evidence relating to Rickman's murder, and also discover Nixon's phone dumped nearby. Lennox then executes a search of Pat Kitson's house but finds nothing. Unaware that Nixon and the killer are held up in the house next door, Lennox is desperate to talk to her next door neighbour, and when she does finally arrive home, he hears a noise upstairs. Meanwhile, Gold is still in shock after catching Ashton and Gilmore together, Hunter is forced to pimp his wife as way of getting Ron Gregory off his back, Webb is caught snogging a bridesmaid by Cryer, and Klein is caught snorting cocaine in the station toilets by Carver.
- Carver is assigned to the Sharpe family as their family liaison officer, hoping to gather some vital information on Joanna's disappearance. However, Sharpe is uneasy and Carver finds that she is too emotionally distraught to give information. Taviner ignores what could be a vital clue to Joanna's disappearance when he receives information from an unreliable snout. CID hear word that a paedophile ring may be operating in Sun Hill, and they are determined to keep the news from Joanna's distraught parents. Uniform suspect that an assault on a prison officer may not be the straightforward mugging it appears to be. Young suspects that Ashton is having an affair when he visits Gilmore in hospital.
- New DI Neil Manson arrives at Sun Hill to take over CID. He tasks Phil and Rob with dealing a Mis-Per, but when Christine Weaver and Cindy Hunter are arrested for fighting, Manson pulls Hunter off the case and pairs Thatcher with Nixon. The situation escalates when it appears that the missing person, a drug-addicted pensioner, is dealing for his grandson, and the pensioner is thrown off a balcony by rival dealers. MIT are called in when Max Wyatt's body is found in his freezer. Meanwhile, Leo Price is arrested again, Nick conspires with Cindy to end her marriage with Phil and trick him into dumping Christine, and Brandon finds the CCTV tape Cathy took from the car park where Brandon's wife Tanya was killed.
- WPC Debbie Keane should be showing the Brownies around the station but has gone missing. While her colleagues look for her little do they know she is held hostage by a desperate young man with a gun-shot wound.
- Quinnan's wedding day dawns, but the reappearance of Garfield is just one of many events of the day.
- DC Carver is let down by an unreliable snout, and needs DS Beech to get him out of a tricky situation.
- Santini and Page investigates when a young girl is knocked down in a hit-and-run incident. Santini manages to trace the owner of the car, but he denies all knowledge of the incident. Santini isn't convinced and decides to arrest him anyway. With the young girl recovering in hospital, Santini discovers she is a big fan of Arsenal FC, and in particular, Emmanuel Petit. Santini has a contact in the sports promotion industry and boasts that he can make a dream come true for the young girl by getting Petit to visit, but Page isn't sure he can deliver. Meanwhile, Stamp has the job of organizing the relief Christmas party, and finds a very cheap supplier for the booze, until he gets caught up in the middle of a Customs raid.

Smith is sent alone to collect the shipment, while the gang detain DC Moss, who has been posing as Smith's girlfriend. The nephew's unexpected arrival ahead of the exchange threatens to undermine the deal and to expose Smith's cover.
- DI Nixon and DC Banks are in court for the trial of man accused of murder and attempted rape. PC Ryder persuades a reluctant witness to testify. Banks's wife, Naomi Woods, suspects the officers of coercing a witness, and successfully argues for a mistrial verdict. When another woman is raped, Nixon is convinced that Norris is to blame but Banks, reviewing the evidence, has doubts.
- Patrolling the Bronte estate, PCs Ghir and Brown break up an assault on a young couple. The officers' contrasting approaches bring them into conflict, and Ghir's impetuosity quickly gets him into trouble.
- Sharpe's digging into her daughter's disappearance leads her to discover that CID have been investigating a possible paedophile ring, and when she furiously confronts Nixon, Nixon coherently denies that the two investigations are linked in any way. When the body of a young child is found by a member of the public, Sharpe is anxious that is may well be her missing daughter. Meanwhile, as Howard Sinclair makes a further complaint, Okaro is under serious pressure from Fitzwilliam to get rid of Meadows. Ackland convinces a witness to provide evidence against Sinclair. Murphy investigates when a pizza deliveryman's moped is stolen, and discovers that his boss is running a sideline in drugs.
- The relief swoop into London's Chinatown in an attempt to locate and arrest corrupt interpreter Mai Ann Wey. Desperate to make amends to Murphy, Taviner manages to catch Mai Ann when she eludes the rest of the team. Webb is in turmoil after witnessing Okaro having a friendly meeting with a suspect. Gold begins to have her own suspicions about Okaro when Webb sees him taking his own daughter to visit Gregory. Okaro is furious when Webb charges into a delicate covert operation to ensnare Gregory. Gregory is arrested, and the "child" in his boot is revealed to be Cryer. Cryer and Webb break into the house of Gregory's solicitor and find a frightened little African girl in an attic.

Page takes to the stand at her trial and decides to tell the truth, in a last-ditch effort to save herself from being found guilty of the murder of Dr. Owen Preston. The search for Taviner's body in the remains of the warehouse continues, but to no avail. Juliet and Cathy arrest a drunk but he pulls a knife on the Becker in the yard.

- PCs Green and Fletcher arrest a teenager after a box of fireworks explodes in front of their patrol car. The fireworks are part of a consignment to be used at a forthcoming football match, where Sun Hill officers will be in attendance on crowd control duties. DI Manson mounts an observation at the stadium, as Sgt Smith is due to meet the man behind an arms smuggling operation.
- Sgt Smith has infiltrated a gang of arms dealers, and comes across a gun that has been used in a recent murder. DS Carter and DC Moss have to get the gun without blowing Smith's cover.
- When Jala Byat goes missing, the team are sidetracked and have to go out on a limb to make sure justice is done for the Byats in the trial, when key witness, Ara Byat's boyfriend refuses to give evidence until she is found. Weston tells Heaton she'll give him a year at his new division, and Kezia and Stuart transfer over.
- As Sun Hill mourns Conway's death, Vik Singh faces the music. The search for the bomber begins, while Mickey Webb is in for a shock.
- With the racist march due to take place later that day, the tension rises once again as the Sun Hill force comes under attack from gangs of youths. Ackland is saved from a gang by Carver, and the pair soon become much closer. After telling Chandler it's over, Kate Spears reveals that she is going to tell everyone what they were doing when Conway died.
- The "Cop Idol" Christmas party gets into full swing, with everyone blissfully unaware that Rickman is lying unconscious in the boot of a car. Stamp and Best find a man wandering the streets and take him home, only to find he is living alone and without electricity. They decide to delve into his financial situation, and discover that either his neighbour or the builder he employed, or both, have been ripping him off. A visit to Phil's old nick gives Klein enough ammunition to get Hunter off his back. Webb is gutted when Cryer's hunky date arrives, and Young's concern about Cass increases when Simon Kitson turns up looking for her. In a darkened warehouse, Rickman fears that she may succumb to the serial killer.
- The broad daylight drive-by shooting of a young girl at a local bank seems more deliberate than accident when her father is discovered to be an accountant for some local thugs. Klein attends Simon Kitson's memorial service, but lets his emotions get the better of him when he encounters none other than Pat Kitson. Cryer is suspicious of Bradford and suspects that she may be lying about the results of her HIV test, and an angry Hunter berates Bradford for putting others at risk. Young gets an unsuspecting view from her bedroom window and reports an incident involving a flasher, but his identity is soon revealed when he turns out to be none other than charming new Aussie constable, Cameron Tait.
- Abi Nixon arrives at the station on a work experience placement, and is sent out on patrol with Boyden, much to her delight. When Boyden is accused of having a sexual encounter with one of Abi's friends, Abi steps in to defend him. Young suspects that rape victim Louanna isn't telling the whole truth when she accuses one of her schoolmates of rape, despite the fact that her injuries suggest that she was attacked by more than one person. Schoolteacher Sonia Graham finds herself on the end of a sustained barrage of abuse, including offensive graffiti being sprayed on her house and pornographic material being posted through her letterbox. Ashton races to stop Young from having an abortion.
- Sun Hill comes under fire from a gun epidemic due to the illegal firearms flooding the area, and Webb is convinced that Trent is the cause. As he and Drummond investigate Trent's activities, Drummond comes across an arms cache. McAllister finds solace in her boyfriend Michael, surprised at how much interest he is showing in her. However, Webb's investigation throws up some interesting facts and McAllister puts her life at risk after making the alarming discovery about who her boyfriend really is. It's the end of the road for Ashton when he comes face to face with an armed teenager in a local mini mart. Page finds herself falling in love again after getting emotionally involved with Dr. Owen Preston.
- Ackland stops a vehicle which has been reported lost or stolen, only to find the driver in possession of a briefcase containing more than £20,000. When the suspect, Harry Turner, reveals he has a past history with Gold, he offers to take part in an obbo to bring down a major Sun Hill villain. However, during the obbo, he escapes with £15,000 of the Met's money. Meanwhile, Kane is struggling to cope with the fact that Bradford has abducted his children. When Zoe manages to call her dad from Bradford's mobile, a search is directed towards the streets surrounding the station - but the entire station is unaware that Bradford has sneaked the kids into the station boiler room under their very noses.
- Klein and Hemmingway attend a disturbance at a funeral home and discover an unusual case: the body and casket of the mother of the Coombes brothers have disappeared - including £350,000. Turning the case over to McAllister and Drummond, the investigation leans towards all the involved parties, including the brother, the funeral director and the security guard. Against her better judgment, and despite warnings from Stamp, Page befriends journalist Frank Fisher who helps her out when she cops abuse and vandalism from some local youths. Smithy and Hollis check out the local swimming pool when the manager reports a break-in. On the way back to the station, Hollis is confronted by Taviner.
- Sam has bought a profiler in on a potential serial rapist. She has history with him and there seems to be a story brewing. Shelia is, as always, having a terrible day. She has been to court about a previous racial case. Has she made one mistake too many for senior management? Saint Gabriel, is cleaning up the estate but is his brand of justice going to be accepted by everyone. They can't argue it is not working but at what cost to the lives of the estate?
- Smithy is assigned to puppy walk two new PSCOs assigned to the station - Colin Fairfax and Gabriel's arch-nemesis, Laura Bryant. The trio investigate when a group of local youths vandalize lifts in a local tower block, and then attack the property of a local resident. However, an illegal search conducted by Laura proves to be an issue in securing a conviction. Meanwhile, Jim is assigned as SIO on the case of Karen Burnett, who has disappeared without trace on her way home from work. Honey is assigned as Family Liaison Officer, and speaks to the victim's husband, Scott, who is concerned for her welfare. Sam is outraged when Abi announces that she is marrying abductor Hugh.
- Sam and Abi hideaway in Peter Baxter's empty flat in an attempt to stay out of Hugh's clutches. However, back at the station, Jack's lack of support for Sam grows stronger when Hugh claims that Sam has abducted her own daughter. When Phil realizes that Sam's suspicions have been true all along, he confronts Hugh but finds himself the recipient of a formal complaint. Sam desperately tries to make Abi realize she has been brainwashed, but Hugh continues to try and win her over. Meanwhile, Terry and Jim interview one of Karen Burnett's friends, and in a search of waste ground near to his place of work, she is found dead having been the victim of a violent assault.
- Tensions run high when Greg Campbell is intent on stopping murder suspect Scott Burnett from marrying PC Honey Harman. Conflicts arise between an ambitious soccer coach and the father of one of the team who has a Premiership trial scheduled for the following day. The family of one of the Sun Hill team is involved in a serious car accident.
- This was a live episode to celebrate 50 years of ITV. Jeffrey Clarke has taken Superintendent Amanda Prosser hostage and corners the 2 Kent brothers David and the real Gabriel. Jack gets roped in to do the speech little knowing the drama unfolding upstairs. Panic ensues when a gun goes off. Roger fills in Jack and Sam on Mr Clarke state of mind. A fight for the gun ends with 2 people shot. Gabriel gets Jeffrey to let him attend to his injured brother. Gina is nervous when required to be the negotiator despite being suspended and becomes concerned when Mr Clarke talks about time running out. Prosser starts to freeze when the pressure ramps up. Terry tries to get through to Jeffrey when he claims he has done something to the accused driver. It's up to the team to save a life and defuse the situation.

Initially, suspicion falls on a local youth, Wayne Stevens, who has previous for a similar offence and was seen running away from the scene. However, when another witness claims she heard the victim shouting something before she was attacked, the pair find themselves on the trail of a Rwandan war criminal who is wanted for mass genocide and rape by the UN. Klein's personal views begin to cloud his judgement when they fail to obtain any evidence to prove Ngeze's identity, so he sets up a chance meeting with a Rwandan national in an attempt to prove that he is Colonel Ngeze.

And as he is the only PC out on the streets, he ends up dealing will all of the shouts coming through on CAD. Meanwhile, Boyden has to deal with a D&D that Stamp has arrested, who seems to think he is one of Santa's elves, and a young boy who has run away from his foster parents, while Ackland and Monroe deal with a barbershop quintet who have lost one of their members.
- Two men are brought into the station in the early hours of the morning on suspicion of burglary. While being booked in at the custody desk, the older man produces a gun and holds Boyden, Keane and Harker hostage.
