- After Bill's funeral, the staff deals with their grief. Catherine comes back to read some private messages as part of Bill's last will. Matthew wants to believe Bill is still alive and traveling the world.
- Andrea wants everyone on the staff to take a lie detector test. Mr. James does a book reading of his autobiography.
- Bill is devastated when Beth has the old sandwich machine removed from the office, and Dave is horrified when she replaces it with a classic arcade machine. Lisa is so worried she's losing her smarts that she re-takes her SATs.
- To help Bill quit smoking, Dave gives up coffee. Lisa is worried Joe saw her and Dave together at the movies.
- Mr. James is going on a fishing vacation. So Mr James can remain in touch with the office, Joe sets up a two-way satellite box. It drives the staff crazy since they must take it around the office. Also, a new complaint box is installed and promptly abused.
- Dave accidentally overhears the staff mocking him.
- The office thermostat is broken, and the heat is getting to the staff, with everybody in the office having delusional daydreams. Dave deals with low station ratings.
- James Caan researches a movie role with Bill but gets distracted by Matthew. Dave tries to convince Lisa to let him buy her a TV.
- Bill's recent purchase of a cane aggravates Dave. Matthew is concerned that Joe hates him. Dave is not prepared for the annual staff retreat and is upset with Lisa for not informing him about it.
- When Catherine is out sick, Bill puts Joe on the air in her place, expecting him to do badly. At the same time, Beth is inexplicably fascinated by Mr. James' weird, nerdy nephew.
- A man threatens to jump off Dave's office window ledge unless he can read a statement on the air.
- Once again, Bill has humiliated Matthew. This time however, Matthew punches Bill in the face, which makes Matthew act like he owns the place.
- Once a year, Mr James plays poker with other station owners, and the stakes are pieces of their respective stations. Mr James loses the coffee machine, and then he loses Bill. Mr James realizes he's lost his magic, so Lisa plays as his proxy.
- Tensions rise in the office after a local magazine names Lisa cutest reporter in New York. After Joe alerts Bill that he's had his treble all the way down in his car and turns it up, Bill becomes shocked and outraged over the lyrics rap music has, previously not hearing them without the treble.
- While Andrea keeps bugging Dave, Mr. James lets a camera crew into the office to film a documentary about himself. Bill is working on a musical act.
- When Catherine decides to leave WNYX, each staff member recalls a different version of the event.
- Dave has to decide the annual bonuses. Bill is upset over people leaving food on his desk.
- The staff are upset when Mr James doesn't invite them to his big Halloween party because they think they're too cool to dress up. Lisa volunteers Dave to wear "the most outrageous costume ever" to get them into the party spirit.
- Mr James announces he's running for President and challenges Lisa to dig up the dirt that will stop him. Beth, Joe, Catherine, and Bill hold an intervention to convince Matthew to shave off his mustache.
- After Bill's new radio show, The Real Deal With Bill McNeal gets canned for low ratings, Bill and co-host Lisa struggle to find a surprise guest to pique Mr. James' interest. Matthew announces to the staff he's still a virgin.
- Stranded in the St. Louis airport for days because of a snowstorm, Dave is forced to deal with Bill and his revolt against friendly Midwestern people. Back in New York City, Lisa tries to deal with being boss, though Mr. James doesn't show the enthusiasm she had hoped. Mr. James goes on a mission to stop Joe and Catherine from becoming romantically involved.
- The staff play with a Goofy Ball, a toy made by one of Mr. James' companies. Joe tries to set Dave up with a fashion model. Bill thinks a stalker is trying to kill him.

- Lisa mistakenly believes she's been dumped by Dave, which Andrea finds out about and leads to an investigation of the relationship. Andrea deludes herself into thinking she and Lisa are friends. Bill causes Mr. James legal trouble after suggesting foreign diplomats be dragged out from cars and beaten for not paying parking tickets, and one subsequently is. Beth and Joe discover Matthew has a real talent.
- Joe is bothered by the building's new security cameras; Mr James thinks he's found the perfect wife candidate, though he just needs to find out what's wrong with her; and a fire in the building freaks Bill out, but makes Dave and Lisa hot under the collar.
- The staff deals with noisy new neighbors on the floor above them. Catherine is unhappy with Bill--with the way he reads a commercial, and with his faking an endorsement of a product he's never tried.

- Beth inherits some money and asks Mr. James for stock tips. Matthew returns from Japan.

- Dave takes speech lessons from Bill before introducing him at a Broadcasting Society function. Matthew learns a lesson about gambling from Joe.
- Dave and Lisa begin their office romance. Matthew inadvertently uses colorful language live on air.
- After being a little too honest in a radio magazine interview about his job and the staff, Dave draws the wrath of the staff. A new temp brought in to re-sort paper work proves to be as weird, if not weirder, than Matthew.
- As the new boss, Lisa's attempt to make a good, serious first impression on the staff ends in epic failure. Dave, trying to get his job back, decides to become "pure evil" and unleash Bill, which doesn't bring the results he hoped for. Matthew is now living in Lisa's office, having been kicked out of his apartment.
- After a surprise prank by Matthew, Mr. James has a small heart attack and per his wishes, he convalesces in a comatose state with the WNYX staff. Lisa suddenly decides she wants to have a baby.
- Dave's old girlfriend visiting from Wisconsin believes they are still a couple. Bill interviews a "business visionary" friend of Mr. James.
- Mr. James decides to rectify the stations continuing problem of being over budget by selling the office equipment and furnishings. Matthew's "twin" brother pays a visit, but the staff is perplexed and doubtful because neither "brother" looks alike. Bill alienates the entire office, who learn the contents of his secret contract with Mr. James.
- Mr. James tells Dave and Lisa to run for the position of boss, even though neither want to be the boss.

- Lisa and Beth try to find out why Matthew has gotten a brother from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Dave seemingly becomes paranoid when Bill suggests Lisa has a secret new boyfriend, which leads Bill, Joe, and Mr. James on the hunt for whom the guy is.
- On his 32nd birthday, Dave gets visited by three old college friends of his who want him to quit his job and join their old a capella singing group.
- After seriously injuring a hand, Matthew is in a hard spot not having any insurance, so Lisa comes up with a plan that Dave falsify a report. Bill causes a problem by repeatedly saying "penis" on air, both in a news story, and in a follow up apology for saying it.
- Matthew gets a title bump to "Coordinating Producer" and tries to boss the staff around. Mr. James announces his wife-candidate search and tries to negotiate a marriage. Lisa looks for a new job and tries her hand at MTV News.
- After a scuffle and being arrested - all over a parking ticket - Bill is committed for psychiatric evaluation. With Bill gone, things quickly fall apart on air.
- The office mascot, Mike the rat, is killed in a trap. Dave is seen as heartless for thinking of him as just a rodent.
- Because of a bet he made, Mr. James promises to rehire Matthew if somebody from WNYX wins a talent show.
- Beth seeks the secret to business negotiations. Lisa requests a raise from Dave. Bill tries to get the staff to help him cover up a secret he's keeping from his latest girlfriend.
- Mr. James announces he is going to circle the Earth in a hot air balloon. Bill tries to quit smoking by instead using chewing tobacco.
- All the staff wants to leave early for Christmas, which delays Lisa's meeting Dave's parents in Wisconsin. Matthew helps Mr. James pick gifts for his rich friends. Bill has Beth record a commercial with him.
- Matthew nearly loses it when he tries to get the staff to rent a house in the Hamptons together. Bill and Dave can't agree on a baseball promo, and spend an exhausting day with Mr James and a sound editor.
- Due to Beth's vacation, the guys now consider WNYX an all-male work floor, despite Lisa still being around.
- Mr. James brings in a group of little kids to the office for mentoring by the staff while he takes their teacher out to dinner. Dave goes on the hunt to find out who's been leaving porno magazines in the break room, while Lisa struggles with the possibility it might be Dave.
- Dave finally confronts Lisa about her relationship with Stewart, but his actions have dire consequences. Joe helps Bill and Catherine wage a prank war against each other - but why?
- The stressed-out staff gets help from a psychiatrist. Dave is bothered that the doctor is Lisa's former lover.
- The station covers a subway derailment and Dave tries to get Matthew tunnel access, while the staff resents Dave's decision to order Matthew a new desk.
- When Lisa hears Mr. James once told Dave the secret of good management, she desperately wants to know too.
- Mr. James has Dave hire Walt, his only normal nephew, for an intern position. Dave turns Walt over to Bill for training. Matthew tells Dave he has a crush on Lisa and wants to ask her out. Walt also has a crush on Lisa.
- The gang shows us what a space episode would be like. Matthew dates a porn star robot. Bill goes for a space walk and gets locked outside. Joe accidentally sets off the self destruct system and everybody is forced into hypersleep. Matthew accidentally kicks the cord and shuts down their life support. Bill and Matthew repopulate humanity in the lab.
- In the series finale, Jimmy James shock jocks WNYX by returning from his titanic retirement cabin. Homesick James adores his farm's pet sounds, but pines for the blue, flaming news zoo's beastly noise, and Dave's mom. To shed his two-tone mourning jacket, he begs Dave to run his new tiny, tinny New Hampshire radio station. But now, ex-cheese-head Dave loves the Big Apple, and gets an evil urge to unload cat-loving Matthew via bait and switch. Will other news crew kiss off the great escape artist's golden call of the wild to his green acres ? Is this an alien conspiracy?
- Matthew becomes brilliant after drinking Joes Brain milkshake.
- Bill announces he's adopting a baby.
- Mr. James is arrested and held for possibly being the legendary bank robber D.B. Cooper. Johnny Johnson arrives to fill his place, much to Mr. James' dismay; Johnson quickly makes positive impressions on the staff. Afraid Lisa is uncovering to much damning evidence on Mr. James, he assigns Matthew to the story.
- Dave is more stressed than usual, so Joe decides to make him a white-noise machine for relaxation. Dave loves it and eventually becomes so mellow he refuses to work. Max infringes on Lisa's special show "This Day in History," broadcasting ridiculous "live" interviews with historical figures and twisting historical facts.
- Matthew and Mr. James switch jobs for a day, Dave bans Max from the kitchen, Beth tries to avoid debt collector.
- Max tries to help Lisa with a supposed speech impediment, but accidentally uncovers her hidden Boston accent. Dave offers to do an inspiring video message for an old teacher's students.
- Dave and Lisa fight over a new apartment and, needing a required reference, they each immediately go to Mr. James, who opts to let the staff decide who should receive the reference. To spice up the "crappy" WNYX website, Joe sets up a webcam in the breakroom.
- After beating the D.B. Cooper case in court, Mr. James returns to the station to find he cannot get rid of Johnny Johnson, who was made CEO in Mr. James' absence. Now the staff and Mr. James must find a way to win back Jimmy's empire.
- Matthew does what he can to get Max fired. Lisa goes undercover to investigate a fast food restaurant.
- Beth and Mr. James clash over employee profit-sharing. After undergoing hypnosis, Matthew believes he endured Satanic ritual abuse from Lisa.
- Lisa discovers her contract allows her to have an assistant. When the new gal shows up looking hot and acting flirty, the boys go crazy and the women get irritated. Max is upset the women have a couch in their rest room and demands the same. Things get ugly when Jimmy overdoes the mens room and people cant agree to the rules of its use.
- With Mr. James on the loose after breaking out of prison, Dave and Lisa must try to get the green duffel bag away from Johnny Johnson, which is made harder since Lisa has the hots for Johnny. The rest of the staff refuses to believe Johnny is evil.
- Mr. James announces he's retiring and moving to a big cabin in New Hampshire. Matthew worries that Dave will fire him once Mr. James departs, and immediately becomes paranoid. Lisa plans a going-away party that Dave considers a waste of time, because he believes Mr. James' retirement and move are just another of his crazy schemes.
- Joe and Beth paint a self-expression mural in the lobby. Max insists that Mr. James' security consultant is an impostor. Matthew wears the same outfit as Lisa to the office.
- Angry that the staff members do not even pretend to do their job and that they ignore him, Dave plans on firing somebody. Max and Matthew get Joe to teach them his special blended forms of karate, called Joe-Jitsu. Displeased with how Mother's Day cheapens motherhood, Mr. James goes on a mission to destroy Mother's Day.
- Wanting to leave a lasting legacy, Mr. James proposes to build a pair of 200-story buildings shaped like his initials. Freaking out over turning 30, Matthew shows up at work dressed and acting like a British punk rocker rebelling against society.
- Dave thinks it's time to hire Bill's replacement. When the staff resists, he considers going with a longtime friend of Bill's, Max Louis. As it turns out, Max is a horrible radio personality and gets fired from every job he has. Joe needs to fix all the computers in preparation for Y2K. Electronics around the office randomly explode.
- Mr James wants to do business with a computer billionaire, but he is shocked when he finds the man has casual clothing, a beard, and long hair. Joe takes Jimmy on a hypnotic psychoanalysis to find he's been terrified of hippies ever since a violent hippie encounter back in 1968.
- Matthew finds Mr. James' evil nemesis who almost put him away in Federal prison and stole his company, Johnny Johnson, a homeless wino living in a subway station. Johnny claims to no longer be evil and seeks to still marry Lisa.
- Max threatens to quit, but nobody takes him serious since Beth tells them it's just a ploy to get her to go out with him. Lisa wants to hybrid her last name with Johnny's last name, but most of the staff has different ideas.
- During Lisa and Johnny's wedding, which Dave strongly opposes, Johnny is arrested for theft. Lisa must decide whether to stay married to him.
