- All twelve contestants return to campus where they began their journey to see how far they've come.
- The contestants get the encouragement they need to keep going forward on their adventure.
- It's every person for themselves as the contestants no longer compete in teams.
- The final contestants revisit a fitness milestone to see how much progress they've made.
- Contestants are introduced to the ranch, trainers, and rules. The 12 contestants were separated into two teams, red and blue, and assigned their team trainer. They competed for a 5 lb advantage at weigh in.
- The sixteen contestants for season 8 are introduced. The theme for the season is having a second chance, which brings with it a lot of baggage for most, if not all, contestants. The second chance applies to the show with one contestant, back from a previous season, and has been allowed to continue with his weight loss journey. Before the contestants even have a chance to do a workout, weigh-in or meet the trainers, they are subjected to their first challenge, a 1-mile race, the winner to have immunity from elimination. As with previous seasons, all the contestants will be paired up, the winner of the race also having the choice of his/her partner. The race proves to be too much for two of the contestants. At the first official weigh-in, there are five people over 400 pounds apiece - the largest number ever for the show, and the heaviest single person ever on the show. At their first workout, the contestants learn that both Bob and Jillian will be jointly training them all. Each contestant goes through a medical evaluation, which is a wake up call for most. At the first elimination weigh-in, only fifteen contestants weigh-in, although all sixteen are still in the game.
- One contestant faces an unexpected obstacle, forcing their team to come together in new ways.
- Mike and Ron, below the yellow line on the latest weigh-in, learn who America voted for to proceed to the final three with Helen and Tara. Before season 7 is completed, season 8 already begins with two hopefuls, Amanda and Erinn, vying for the one remaining spot for next season's competition. The decision on who that person will be is made by popular vote by the American public during the airing of this live episode, voting based on part on how each does in a workout with Bob and Jillian. The results on the "Pound for Pound" Challenge is presented, this program which aims to tie weight-loss programs across the United States to food bank donations, with the amount of weight pledged and lost equaled by the weight of food donated. The nineteen non-finalist contestants weigh-in to see who has the highest percentage of weight loss to earn the $100,000 "at home" prize. The final three weigh-in last, to see who will take home the $250,000 grand prize. By happenstance, the three finalists do have the highest percentage of weight loss this season, the only three contestants to have lost more than half of their original weight.
- The contestants take a dive into fitness as friendships grow stronger.
- When Sione is sent home after the latest weigh-in, Filipe and Kristin vow to work extra hard for Bob since no one from Jillian's team has been sent home in seven weeks. The reward challenge for the week tests the fear of heights for some. However, everyone this week will receive a reward of a wardrobe and hair make-over, all done for a movie premiere, but a movie that surprises the contestants in more ways than one. This reward is short-lived for one of the contestants whose serious injury may threaten his/her ability to continue with intense workouts until the injury heals.
- "Biggest Loser" revealed in Season Finale - In this must-see, exciting live finale, all of "The Biggest Loser" families from this season return for a special reunion and a chance to weigh in one last time - and show America how much weight they've all lost since beginning their weight-loss journeys.
- With Aubrey being sent home after the last weigh-in, the campus is less one person. Or is it? Three early season contestants - David, Estella and Nicole - are brought back, the person with highest percentage of weight loss since their very first weigh-in will stay and be immune from elimination this week if they do not gain any weight. This person's arrival scares many of the existing contestants due to the high amount of weight this person managed to lose while at home without the aid of a trainer. The second big surprise for all contestants is that Alison is not present for much of this week as she has just given birth. Fifth season's biggest loser, Ali, and sixth season's biggest loser, Michelle, are acting as guest hosts in Alison's absence. And a medical issue sends one contestant to the hospital which threatens their participation in the contest. When the week's challenge comes to pass, the contestants learn that their continued success in the quest for weight loss is all a matter of balance in life.
- At the last weigh-in, Daniel fell below the red line and was immediately evicted from campus, and Shay was voted off, leaving six contestants. Those six are told that they are going to give a motivational speech to an eager crowd. But before they give their speech, they get a make-over to match their new slimmer bodies. Tabatha Coffey provides them with new hair styles, and Tim Gunn provides a general wardrobe and style makeover. Back with the contest, the contestants compete in a reward challenge in the spirit of making over. One contestant has an anxiety attack over the challenge. And because of the makeover, the contestants have missed a week's worth of workouts. So their last chance workout is an all day affair. Before that workout, Bob takes Allen aside to discuss some matters. And Jillian speaks to Rudy about a disclosure he made during his motivational speech.
- All of the contestants from this season return for a special reunion and a chance to weigh in one last time - and show America how much weight they've all lost since beginning their weight-loss journeys. There are four contestants left, but America has voted on the two that fell below the yellow line in last week's episode to choose who will be the third finalist in the game. After America's vote is revealed and the third finalist is announced, the eliminated player will then weigh in with the other 12 eliminated contestants to compete for the $100,000 "at home" prize. Then it's the moment viewers have been waiting for, when one of the three finalists will be named this season's "Biggest Loser."
- Following the last weigh-in when Coach Mo was voted off, the black team is surprised that Tracey was not the one voted off. She can see their reaction, by which she feels hurt. The first challenge of the week is digging for keys in the sand to unlock a treasure chest. All Alison tells them about the reward is that it will definitely determine who will stay on campus and who will go home. After the challenge, the teams find out that the reward is a double edged sword with a down side. Ultimately, the winning team has the ability to give the reward away to the losing team if they so choose. The team that ultimately gets the reward do appreciate the positives about it, but also find that the down side will be difficult to overcome, which may affect their next weigh-in.
- After the latest weigh-in when Dina was voted off the campus, the two teams are matched five black team members against five blue team members. As such, the next weigh-in will be an individual one-on-one battle, the team winning at least three of the five match-ups will win the week. The reward challenge - one of speed and agility - will allow the winning team to determine who will be matched up against whom at the weigh-in. The following challenge will provide both a reward - a Curtis Stone cooked lunch - and a 2-pound advantage at the weigh-in to use as they see fit. The challenge itself is inspired by campus guest Derek Jeter. During the workouts, Abby, Amanda and Shay speak openly and emotionally about their challenges and fears with Jillian. At the weigh-in, beyond the actual one against one match-ups, one contestant hits a milestone.
- 2004– 1h 26mTV-PG7.4 (18)TV EpisodeIn front of a live studio audience, Alison introduces the season's theme, childhood obesity through the Challenge America program, with three young people being the faces of the challenge to reduce childhood obesity by having them go through a weight loss regime at home. Each will have one of the three trainers to work with, those three which includes the return of Jillian Michaels. Alison then calls out the names of the fifteen people who will be this season's contestants and who have no idea they have been chosen until their name is called. Each contestant gives a little background of him/herself. Once at the ranch the next day, five adult contestants apiece are assigned to one of the three trainers, Bob, Dolvett and Jillian, but realistically any contestant can call upon any one of the trainers for any advice or assistance. The fifteen plus the three youth are thrown into the fire with their first workout. Jillian in particular has issue with three of her team members, and tries to find out why they have what she considers a defeatist attitude. The first team challenge of the season, which includes the three youth, is to find letters in a ball pit to spell out the phrase "The Biggest Loser", with the winning team getting a five pound advantage at the weigh-in. The three youth leave the ranch for home before the last chance workout, which takes its emotional toll. At the first elimination weigh-in, the contestants learn that there will be no yellow line, but only a red line, meaning that the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss on the losing team will automatically be the first eliminated contestant. However, something that happened at the last chance workout may increase that number by one.
- At the Los Angeles Coliseum, Alison introduces the twenty contestants for the season, they who are all former athletes, including some former professional athletes and former Olympians. She also introduces the three trainers for the season, who include now Biggest Loser training veteran Dolvett, and two newbies to the Biggest Loser family, Jessie and Jen. For their first workout at the Biggest Loser Ranch, the twenty contestants are under the tutelage of all three trainers, who get a feel for who are among the group. In general, Dolvett can see the former athletes come out as what he considers the best first workout he has ever been a part of on the show. The contestants are then thrown into their first individual challenge, which combines aspects of beach volleyball and an obstacle course. The prizes are the choice of trainer for the season, where there are six open spots per trainer. With only eighteen spots, the last two to complete the challenge are automatically eliminated. After the last chance workout, the first training session with their dedicated trainer, the contestants then enter into their first elimination weigh in as a team, the eliminated contestant being voted off the team with the lowest percentage of weight loss. What all the contestants on the ranch are unaware of is the existence of the Comeback Canyon which is led by a familiar face.
- The first elimination weigh-in finds Zina leaving Comeback Canyon, and Andrea, as the voted eliminated contestant from the ranch, joining Vanessa at Comeback Canyon with Bob. Andrea is intimidated to be against a former professional athlete in Vanessa, but believes she is up to the challenge, which will only be proved at the end of the week weigh-in. The trainers at the ranch believe they have to share their own stories with their respective teams to get them to feel safe sharing their own stories, which are a large part of why they have gained weight from their previous athlete selves. Jessie in particular feels he needs to do so as the freshman trainer on the ranch who has already lost a team member and who feels the need to prove himself by ensuring that the Blue Team does not lose the next weigh-in. Each of the ranch trainers does have those problem team members who have yet to have that mental breakthrough. The team reward challenge is an obstacle course, but also entails both figuratively and literally knocking down the walls of excuses that people use for unhealthy living. The winning team has access to the gym for the week, with another team getting a surprise. Dr. Huizenga provides initial post-medical tests assessments to the contestants, which leads to perhaps one of the most emotional such sessions in Biggest Loser history. That emotion ends up extending to the last chance workout.
- Andrea is eliminated and Damien wins the lottery so he goes back home.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Chandra is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Matt, as the first casualty of the White Team, joins Mike at Comeback Canyon. Bob is looking forward to this battle as he sees both Mike and Matt as potentially going all the way to the finale. Bob receives a gift which he believes he will be able to use for others. The ranch contestants head off the ranch for a tailgate party at Los Angeles Coliseum, and their first temptation challenge. Each contestant is given three minutes alone in a tent full of every kind of unhealthy stadium type food available. The contestant who eats the most calories wins the challenge, and what on the surface is the most lucrative reward, namely immunity at the next weigh-in. However, that silver lining does have a cloud as their weight will still count toward their team's weight, with this week having a red line. Each of those who ate speak to their respective trainer about their thought process. Separate from the temptation challenge, Jackie and Scott open up to their respective trainer about what they are going through emotionally, Jackie who is feeling homesick, while Scott is dealing with the rationale for his weight issue. And at the weigh-in, all eyes turn to the contestant who won the temptation challenge to see if that person eating did negatively affect the team's overall weight loss percentage.
- 2004– 1h 25mTV-PG7.4 (8)TV EpisodeWith Richard and Sarah respectively being eliminated after the last two weigh-ins, eleven contestants remain at the ranch. In the first of the two weeks, the temptation dangled in front of the contestants is the distraction of luxury, which may take them away from the want to lead a healthy lifestyle, although the two need not be mutually exclusive. Bob holds an auction for the contestants who have the opportunity with a set amount of "Biggest Loser Bucks" to buy items, some which are health related - such as a one-on-one training session with Bob at his house - some which are "game" related, some which are truly luxury items to be used this week which will take them away from the focus of losing weight, and one mystery item. Bob issues another last chance team challenge in a combination strength/cardio relay for three members per team, with the winning team getting a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. That weigh-in will show whether the "game" auction items purchased will have been good investments, and whether the luxury items will have had a negative effect in the game of the weight loss. In the second of the two weeks, the teams are thrown into the deep end with a water related team challenge of pulling buoys out of the ocean and rowing out to a waiting yacht. The winning team has the option of a day on the yacht with letters from home waiting for them there, or exclusive use of the gym for the day, with the losing team getting what the winning team does not choose. Bob holds a group counseling session with all the remaining contestants to help them address somewhat global issues which brought them to the ranch. At the weigh-in, Erin, who is teetering on "one"derland, vows to sing an inspirational song she wrote if she does indeed make it below 200 pounds at this weigh-in. That moment may be bittersweet for her.
- Chef Rocco DiSpirito teaches contestants to make healthy, tasty and affordable meals.
- Sunshine, who fell below the red line at the last weigh-in, is not the only contestant going home this week. The final four contestants are all going home for thirty days before returning to campus to weigh-in to see which three will make it to the finale. While at home, each contestant weighs in in front of friends and family to show how much weight they have lost to date on campus. Some find being at home a challenge in and of itself, but some also find a few cathartic moments. The contestants quickly learn that they will have much work to do in those thirty days as they will be running a marathon at the end of their thirty days. Each finisher of the marathon will be given $10,000 to be donated to the charity of their choice. Two, who find the task daunting, decide to run the race together and finish together. During the race, each contestant is given some inspirational support. The contestants also learn that the two who fall below the yellow line will not have their fate resting in their competitors' hands, but rather that of home voters. Those two plead their case before voting begins.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Vanessa is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Emmy joins Andrea at Comeback Canyon. Bob learns that many of the reasons for Emmy's family's weight issues are external to her own home. At the ranch, the trainers provide what they hope will be longer term motivation for the entire contingent of contestants. Akin to baseball, Alison announces that this week will have a double header style of team challenges. The first challenge is a combination nutrition knowledge/food temptation one, the latter issue with a bit a of a twist that affects one specific team member. The winning team of the first challenge wins a two pound advantage at the weigh-in. The second challenge in the double header is a team cycling challenge, with the winning team the first collectively to get to the Olympic triathlon standard of 40km. Staying on the double header theme, the winning team of that second challenge wins a four pound advantage at the weigh-in. The first challenge ends up having an effect on the last chance workout. The ranch weigh-in ends up being an emotional one for the issue of letting a potential lead slip away.
- All the remaining contestants finally get to reconnect with friends and family.
- A week of surprises - including the return of all the eliminated contestants - shakes things up for "The Biggest Losers".
- Season 7 begins by introducing the players, who will compete in pairs. Grandparents, best friends and former plus-size models are among the twosomes. The group also boasts the oldest contestants and the heaviest contestant in the show's history.
- After the latest vote in which Cathy sacrificed herself to save both her daughter Kristin and teammate Aubrey and was thus sent home, Alison announced that there would be no more teams and that everyone was now working as an individual. Each contestant would also pick either Bob or Jillian as their trainer for the remainder of their time on the campus, an easy choice for some, a more difficult one for others. The week's challenge was in two parts, the actions of the contestants almost making one decide to pack it in and go home. The challenge - the winner of which would get immunity from elimination this week - allowed contestants to penalize others by adding as much weight as they have lost to date to any other contestant for part two of the challenge, the nature of which was not specified beforehand. When part two came along, the extra weight made some more resolved to win, while it made some feel defeated. The actual weigh-in was bittersweet for many in that milestones were achieved, but still resulted in low percentage of weight loss for the week, meaning they could be sent home on the upcoming vote.
- After the latest weigh-in, Laura is voted to be sent home in part because of the stress fracture in her hip, which made many believe she would be better off leaving to deal with her serious injury. With Laura's departure, Tara is feeling vulnerable, as are Mike and Ron as the only remaining pair. After a nutrition based reward challenge, Bob, who is surprised that they did not all get 100% on the quiz, wants to review critically the eating habits of those on his team. The primary challenge of the week tests the strength, balance and fear of heights of the contestants. The winner of the challenge has a difficult decision between a monetary reward versus an upper hand at this week's weigh-in. With only six contestants remaining, both Bob and Jillian push the contestants beyond their limits in the last chance work-out.
- Ron and Mike are able to orchestrate Kristin being voted off on the latest weigh-in, without Ron breaking his promise to Kristin and Kristin's mother, Cathy, that he would never write Kristin's name. Bob is angry with Ron for not being truthful to him about that decision. The one person feeling especially vulnerable after that vote is Filipe, who sees the other remaining contestants having a stronger bond with each other. Alison provides a retrospective to the remaining contestants of their early days on campus, the trainers who recreate their initial training sessions. The contestants in turn get a train the trainer session. The week's challenge is an uphill battle for all, with each carrying the weight of their accomplishments to date with them. Alison also provides a surprise to the contestants: not only will the person being voted off this week go home, but after the next weigh-in, all will go home to complete the remainder of the contest. The contestants have mixed emotions about their upcoming time at home.
- Allen, the latest contestant voted off campus, is not the only contestant going home. The final four contestants are also going home to resume their weight loss while getting on with their regular day-to-day lives, including all the outside pressures involved. For some, they are returning to some problems that they left, while others are returning to what they see as a renewal of life. But some family members admit to the return being a difficult transition. Danny receives his reward for winning the latest weigh-in: chef Curtis Stone teaching him and his family how to cook healthily. Each of the four contestants also receives a package from the trainers, including information on what their next challenge will be: to train for and run a full marathon. By the time their training is over, and they're at the start line, they are all feeling that they can accomplish this task. Alison tells them of a reward for the winner of the race. Along the course, the contestants are provided encouragement from some special guests. At the weigh-in, the eliminated player from the two that fall below the yellow line will not be voted off the show by their remaining fellow contestants, but rather by the American viewers.
- Andrea was voted off campus at the last weigh-in. The power of the vote this week may fall to one person. In a temptation challenge, the contestants are forced to eat all their meals alone for one day in a room filled with both healthy foods, and unhealthy foods. The person who eats the most calories will have the only vote at this week's weigh-in, except if that person falls below the yellow line. In that case, the vote will occur as usual. Many contestants resist temptation, some fall to temptation without a thought of playing the game, while two in combination decide to play the game. The temptation challenge ends up being a motivator at the workouts for many. The reward challenge has each contestant building a vertical structure out of blocks, strong and sturdy enough to climb up on to reach a flag. The first person to get their flag wins a one pound advantage at the weigh-in, the last place finisher receiving a one pound disadvantage. This challenge brings up a fear of heights among some, and one has a more difficult obstacle to overcome by the end of the challenge. Before the weigh-in, the contestants receive a visit by Dr. Rob Huizenga who provides them with an individual update, and they in turn take a visit to a fun place with a special guest who will take them through a different type of workout. Beyond the contest, one family receives devastating news from home.
- After Vicky is voted off campus following the latest weigh-in, the remaining contestants learn that they will be traveling to Dallas, Texas, one of the unhealthiest cities in the United States, to help the legions of unfit there start on the path to good health. They act as motivators for those participating in a five kilometer walk/run starting and ending at the Cotton Bowl. The contestants participate in a reward challenge apropos to being in Texas, the winner to receive immunity for the week. This challenge brings out the alliances that are forming between the remaining seven. Jillian helps out a former contestant in inspiring a group of teenagers. The last chance workout is less two contestants who head home to deal with a family issue, but they return to Dallas in time for the weigh-in at the American Airlines Center.
- With Sam being voted off campus at the latest weigh-in, he who is the first contestant ever to reach his goal weight while on campus, there are no original couples within the remaining five contestants. Koli and SunShine did not understand why Ashley and Daris voted for Sam. Koli and SunShine however were and are unaware that Ashley, Daris and Michael have an alliance. The contestants learn that an alliance this week will not matter as there is no yellow line, only a red line, the contestant who falls below that line going home this week. This reality adds a noticeable air of tension on campus. The reality of the process also profoundly affects one of the contestants. To relieve the stress, Bob takes the contestants on a field trip for them to meet a friend who ends up inspiring them. Two previous biggest losers, who have had different post-contest paths, return to campus to provide guidance to the remaining five. Based on an on-line vote, a shedding weight challenge from a previous season is resurrected. It is a cathartic experience for some of the competitors. The winner has a choice of one of two rewards. Before the weigh-in, each contestant reflects on his/her on-campus journey thus far.
- Tyra Banks and "Project Runway" winner Christian Siriano Guest Star -- It's one of the most eagerly-anticipated events of every "Biggest Loser" season - the makeover episode!
- Filipe, who was voted off the campus after the last weigh-in, is not the only contestant going home. All contestants have now completed their time on campus and are sent home for thirty days before the next weigh-in. They are all apprehensive about their time at home and whether they can translate what they've learned on campus to real life. The final four contestants are all feeling stress without their trainers - who do show up at each of the contestant's home for some moral support and a training session - but also because they learn that they have one last seemingly impossible challenge: competing in a full marathon, albeit one with an added incentive for finishing. One contestant faces a medical issue prior to the race, and another faces them during the race. Prior to the weigh-in back on campus, the final four learn that the fate of the two that fall below the yellow line - the two who are up for elimination - will not be in the hands of the other contestants but rather a much larger group.
- With Julio voted off campus after the latest weigh-in, all the remaining participants are now in paired off in their original pairs. Or are they? The first game, one purely of luck, offers the winner the power to rearrange the groupings. The participants will now be split into two teams - one training with Jillian, one training with Bob - with the winner of the game assigning who will train with who and who will be on which team. The game has some other possible windfalls, but also some large potential costs. The winner of the game is the one person who most of the other participants least wanted it, that person who makes some unpopular decisions. Some are unable to cope without the partner they've had since day one of being on campus. The reward challenge is one of each person figuratively and literally carrying their team, the winning team to get a video letter from home. Some on the winning team show their support for their former partners. When the deliberation for the vote off occurs after the weigh-in, the team has one person as the obvious choice, until another member decides to take one for the team.
- Lauren, last week's eliminated contestant, and Joe, who quit during mid-week last week, are not the only contestants who go home this week as Buddy goes home temporarily to support his wife as she gives birth. Buddy is scheduled to return by week's end, with his weight still counting for his team. The remaining contestants learn that their team challenge has what they consider an important advantage for their weight loss journey: sole access to the gym for the week, with the losing team relegated to working out elsewhere. The challenge is an obstacle course with five health related questions for each team, with each wrong answer resulting in the team needing to overcome an obstacle on the course. During the week, both Bob and Dolvett come across difficult team members. The trainers try to overcome those team members' issues. However, another person whose comment "I want to go home" is another scare for his/her team, and may be his/her death knell for staying if that person decides to stay and if that team loses the week's weigh-in. Meanwhile, Dolvett heads to Chicago to give at-home contestants Adrian and Daphne a tool to monitor their progress.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Emmy is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Mike joins Chandra at Comeback Canyon. His arrival makes it a battle between youth and age, and between the biggest loser thus far against one of the people who has lost the least amount. Back at the ranch, the contestants learn of their challenge which is a four man relay pulling one's own weight across a 600 foot long rope suspended 10 stories over a canyon. The reward is more a penalty against another team, as the winning team has the choice to sideline one person from any of the opposing two teams from this week's weigh-in. Woody fears he may be a liability to his white team, who have yet to lose a challenge or a weigh-in, as he is deathly afraid of heights. However, it is another contestant who ultimately feels like the weakest link. At the weigh-in, the two teams that did not win the reward challenge feel the pressure as Alison tells them that this week will mark the first time this season that there will be a red line, the person falling below automatically being eliminated. However, if the winning team chooses incorrectly, it in turn may work against them.
- As there was no one eliminated from the ranch after the last weigh-in, there are four ranch contestants remaining: Lori, Rob, Sonya and Toma. Those four will learn about the existence of Comeback Canyon, the return of Bob who has been training the Canyon contestants all season, and Bob bringing one contestant back with him who the four thought was eliminated, namely Woody. This twist in the game throws specifically Rob for a loop, he who cannot control his negative emotions about the issue. Dolvett has to help him focus on what is important. Bob's return as a trainer adds a noticeable energy to the workouts, all the contestants who aim to impress, one who does so more than the others to Bob. The other trainers provide words of encouragement to the contestants, most specifically to their original team members. This week's reward challenge is a 2000m rowing race followed by a free throw competition using medicine balls instead of basketballs. The winner of the challenge is the recipient of a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in, at which the five will face a red line.
- The teams are put to the test for the first time with a tempting food competition. Each contestant will need to decide whether it is worth it to participate when they are put in a room full of unhealthy food. They have four minutes to consume or not consume the most calories and the winner will receive a three-pound pass that will be used to their advantage at this week's weigh-in. In the physical challenge, contestants will participate in three different 100-meter heats against the yellow team formed by three kids. Host Alison Sweeney informs them that the winning team will receive a phone call home, making the stakes this week even higher. After the weigh-in one of the teams will have to send someone home.
- Final four contestants reflect on their amazing weight loss journeys, and America votes to choose the third finalist!
- Contestants face longest challenge ever - from sun up to sundown.
- SunShine is still adjusting to the fact of O'Neal no longer being on campus, he who was voted off after the latest weigh-in. That leaves Sam and Koli as the only remaining couple among the six contestants still on campus. Those six have made it to makeover week. Each is given $1,000 to shop for clothing. They get to share their new made-over self with some special people. With their special people, the six are treated to a private concert to cap off their makeover. They get back to the reality of campus when they compete in a reward challenge. They must climb a Jacobs Ladder suspended over a swimming pool. The first person into the pool will have a one pound penalty at the weigh-in, the last person remaining with a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. The second place finisher questions his/her motivations for giving up the challenge. The results of the challenge affect how Bob and Jillian conduct the last chance workout.
- Conda is lamenting the latest vote, which saw one of her best friends, Megan, being sent home. Jeremy tries to keep her on track mentally through her tears. The final six contestants enter into a challenge where they must break through two panes of glass - the glass which symbolically has a photograph of their selves when they first arrived on the ranch - using a slingshot. The first person to break through both panes of their glass wins the challenge and a one-pound advantage at this week's weigh-in. The sixth place contestant will conversely have a one pound disadvantage. On the bright side for all six, they learn that it is make-over week, with stylist Jeannie Mai Jenkins, hair stylist Ken Paves and Clairol consultant Marcy Cona their style team. But Jeannie tells them that this make-over week is unlike the show has ever seen as they will be showing their made-over selves to a special VIP guest at a special VIP location.
- The first eliminated contestant, Fernanda, provides an update of her weight loss journey at home. The teams, all with the same amount of resources, learn that their workout this week will be determined by an auction of gym equipment, each piece which is available to the entire team if they have the highest bid. Strategy is to make other teams pay as a high a price as possible for the equipment that they want, while paying as little as possible for what one's own team wants. It is the penultimate item on the auction block that has the potential to be good or bad: a mystery box. Bob takes aside Matt to talk about postponing his marriage plans to be on the ranch, which may either help or hinder him in his weight loss. If he is sent home early, the experience may scar him in that journey. As such, Matt becomes Bob's project for the week. Dolvett's target is Tanya, who he feels has not lived up to her potential. He tries to discover why. All the trainers feel the contestants as a collective just aren't mentally invested in their journey this week, and so decide to provide them with a gift to get them over what is hopefully a short term hump. This week's weigh-in again has a red line, meaning that someone will automatically be sent home unless a trainer save is used.
- Bob Harper, who takes over hosting duties after sixteen seasons of being one of the show's trainers, announces the many other changes to the show this season, including the house, the gym, and even the weigh-in room. This season is comprised of eight couples - sixteen contestants - including spouses, friends, family members, and one unusual couple who have never met but have a connection each as an "NBC reality show" family member. The theme for the season is to help the contestants deal with everyday temptations, such as they would face at home. Jen and Dolvett are back as trainers, who will each choose their team of eight after viewing contestant videos. Bob issues a temptation to the contestants even before they enter the gym for the first time and before they are even assigned to teams, which could jeopardize continuing a weight loss journey at the ranch. Jen and Dolvett get to know their team members during their first workout, while the contestants discuss the issues that contributed to their weight problems and their feelings toward their respective trainer. The contestants also find that they have no where to hide in the gym as their workouts are continually monitored electronically so that the trainers, their teammates and the viewing public can see just how hard they are working. The first reward challenge of the season, which entails moving weights and a "power couple" from each team scaling a wall, has an unknown reward at the end, that reward which will be a choice for the winning power couple, one of the choices being a temptation. At the weigh-in, the contestants see the changes to the weigh-in room, but learn as usual that one person will be eliminated after the weigh-in from the two who fall below the yellow line from the team losing the weigh-in.
- Twelve people who want to get healthy and transform their lives arrive at The Biggest Loser Campus.
- Family teams face their toughest challenge yet.
- A relay race at 24 Hour Fitness brings the winning team 24 hours of luxury.
- It's Super Bowl week on the Biggest Loser ranch, and that means food, football and fun with two special guest stars - celebrity chef Curtis Stone and NFL MVP Kurt Warner.
- Now that the contestants' partners are back at the ranch, those who've been working out at home will weigh in and see how they have fared away from the ranch.
- Contestants get a pop quiz on health and aging.
- After the latest vote, Alison announced to all the remaining contestants that Mandi would not be the only person sent home that week. In fact, all the remaining contestants were being sent home to spend the time until the next weigh-in back in their home environment. To the contestants, being sent home is a mixed blessing: missing family and friends, they were looking forward to spending time with their loved ones, but on the other hand they are back to the old issues and temptations which were in part a cause of their original weight issues. The black team in particular is aware of this problem because of the indulgences they all partook at the resort spa the week before. After arriving home to family, friends and fanfare, the contestants found out that they would not be left totally to their own devices. They all were going to participate in an individual challenge of running a half marathon, the winner of the challenge - the person with the fastest time - receiving $10,000. There is one hitch. Each contestant is given 13 sugar cookies, each containing approximately 350 calories. For every cookie a contestant eats, he/she can add 5 minutes to any of the other contestant's time. Thus each contestant must weigh the benefit of adding to a competing contestant's run time against the negative of potential weight gain from eating the cookies.
- Nicole's return to the ranch is short-lived as she is voted home in the latest weigh-in. However, bad blood surfaces between Sione/Filipe and Ron/Mike because of the last vote. All the contestants refocus when they are provided a game in temptation, which balances the potential for extreme weight gain against earning money against ultimate power for the week, that being the sole vote in this week's weigh-in. The contestants do not have to play if they do not want, but those that do ultimately have to face the wrath of Bob and Jillian. But thoughts go through all the contestants' minds that if one half of a remaining couple gets that sole vote, the other half will throw the weigh-in for the week as a longer term game strategy.
- Because the contestants met the challenge of losing a collective 150 pounds between them the previous week - even without needing the 35 extra pounds they "won" - no one was voted off campus last week. One contestant learns of a medical issue which may altar her training. Before the start of this week, Alison offers one team a weight advantage at the next weigh-in in exchange for no access to the trainers, that weight advantage starting at 2 pounds and going up by 2 pounds until one team decides to take it. The individual that ultimately makes the unilateral decision to take the weight advantage does not have the emotional support of their partner or of the trainers. Alison offers yet a second advantage, this one available to only one person. That person will decide which person from each team will represent the team in the next weigh-in. The winner of that advantage has to eat the most food placed in front of them, each person not being able to see the amount eaten by any of the others. The trainers once again chastise the person who ate the most food. The teams also face an immunity challenge, one of both strength and endurance. The teams are given the choice of heavier weights over longer distances or lighter weights over shorter distances. Irrespective of the challenge outcome, all teams race in the spirit it was intended. By the end of the week, one person becomes the target for all the others, regardless of if that person remains on campus after this week or not.
- In the live finale, all of the contestants from this season return for a special reunion and a chance to weigh in one last time - and show viewers how much weight they've all lost since beginning their weight-loss journeys. America has voted on the two that fell below the yellow line in last week's episode to choose who will be the third finalist in the game. After America's vote is revealed and the third finalist is announced, the eliminated player will then weigh in with the other 18 eliminated contestants to compete for the $100,000 "at home" prize. Then it's the moment viewers have been waiting for, when one of the three finalists will be named this season's "Biggest Loser."
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Matt is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending him home, while Jackie joins Gina at Comeback Canyon. Beyond the issue of losing weight, Bob wants to instill in Gina and Jackie, who are both mothers, that a large part of their process is putting their own needs if not ahead then equal to that of the rest of their family. At the ranch, the contestants learn that their reward challenge is more putting their competing teams in the penalty box, the team winning the challenge who can assign the preset penalties, one team who will have to do cleaning chores at the ranch before they can do their workouts, while the other team will be sent away to Las Vegas without access to their trainer for the week. The challenge has one person per team running on a treadmill, the speed on which is increased every five minutes. The last person standing wins the challenge for their team. Jen and Dolvett are most concerned about Damien and Blake's well being this week. The weigh in will show if the penalties worked the way the winning team wanted, with the contestant falling below the red line automatically leaving the ranch.
- Two contestants overcome their insecurities and emerge as leaders during this week's challenge.
- This week, the contestants take a road trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world - the Grand Canyon!
- Surprising weigh-in forces one team to send a family member home.
- Immediately after Alexandra is the first person voted off campus, Alison tells the remaining contestants that every person will stay on campus for an extra week if they work together to lose a collective 150 pounds by the next weigh-in. If they don't, the reward turns into a punishment where two people will be voted off. Bob and Jillian know the contestants have an almost impossible task because of the historic curse of "week 2", but do their best to help the contestants realize the goal. The contestants place added pressure and stress on themselves and the other contestants, especially those who they feel are not working hard enough. Much of the animosity is directed toward Julio, who many felt should have been voted off the previous week. Celebrity chef Curtis Stone also assists the contestants in learning about healthy eating. They better be paying attention as a reward challenge is based on his lecture, the reward being a collective 15 pound advantage at the weigh-in. The contestants face a second reward challenge as a team based on their collective ability to balance. Mid way through the week, Tracey returns to the campus after recuperating in the hospital from her collapse during the one mile race on day 1. She, still under medical supervision, has to be especially careful of balancing her food intake against her lessened physical exertion.
- During "student-teacher week," the contestants on each team assume the role of either teacher or student. "Teachers" get to continue working out with Bob and Jillian, but then have to teach what they've learned to their teammates or "students," who don't get to work out with the trainers. The "student'" on each team will be the only one whose weight counts at weigh-in. Acclaimed chef Curtis Stone teaches the contestants about portion control and helps them whip up a healthy chicken cacciatore dish.
- Emily is the latest contestant to be eliminated after the weigh-in and vote. Despite stating that she is a self-sufficient person who doesn't need someone else to rely on, Kim is feeling alone among the remaining contestants which places her in a fragile emotional state. She will later learn that she is not alone among the contestants. The excuse for the week is "I can't lose weight on vacation". As such, Alison tells the remaining contestants that they will be going on vacation for a week in Hawaii, where none of these contestants have ever been before. The trainers in particular are afraid that many within this group will treat it solely as a vacation. The trainers do use their locale to their advantage in new training methods, one which ends up challenging them mentally and physically. The contestants are provided a role model in overcoming whatever fears in that activity. Alison provides a pop quiz on Hawaiian health trivia, the winner to receive a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in. But the week's challenge of gathering specific colored leis among a hillside offers the ultimate reward for the winner: immunity at this week's weigh-in. The actual weigh-in is in some ways overshadowed by the location where it is held: Pearl Harbor.
- Inspiring contestants, including the show's first celebrity player, Ruben Studdard, an uplifting "second chances" theme and powerful new roles for the trainers highlight Season 15.
- There are seven contestants remaining after the elimination of Jay, who is seen at home on the continuation of his weight loss journey. Those seven go into makeover week. Fashion stylist Tim Gunn and hair stylist Ken Paves lead the makeover team. Tim's goal is not to treat the seven as his dress up dolls, but rather collaborate with each to provide them with a look with which they will feel comfortable. Most give Ken free reign over their hair. While David knows and is excited to see his facial hair go, it which he kept more as a symbol of his journey, Marie is a little less excited to see her hair go as it has been the one thing she felt she could control as her weight increased. All seven get to share the experience with their family and friends, who are flown to Los Angeles. After the makeover, it is back to work as the contestants still know that losing weight in their primary goal. Bob in particular is aware that makeover week has always been a distraction away from that goal. At the weigh-in, the contestants learn that there will be a double elimination, with the two people falling below the red line being automatically eliminated. The remaining five will move into the final week on the ranch, where they will compete in a triathlon, the winner who will automatically go into the finale, along with the two contestants with the highest percentage of weight loss for the week.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Blake is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Damien joins Jackie at Comeback Canyon. Bob likes the metaphor of a two time Super Bowl champion going against the first person to have survived two weeks at Comeback Canyon. Only the weigh-in will determine who will emerge as a three time winner. The contestants at the ranch have hit the half way mark of the competition. With nine left, Alison announces that there will be a line up change with three competitors per team, those new teams which will be chosen solely by chance. While some embrace the change as a positive thing possibly to learn from another trainer, one person in particular dreads the possibility of losing the trainer that has led to a high weight loss thus far. The trainers will have to address these concerns by any of their new team members. The new teams go into a reward challenge: they will prepare a meal for Rocco DiSpirito who will judge which team prepared the best meal based on taste, appearance and overall healthiness. The winning team wins a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. Only the weigh-in will determine if that reward makes a difference, which the two losing teams fear if only because the winning team is by far the smallest thus making that one pound a greater percentage.
- 2004– 1h 25mTV-PG6.8 (6)TV EpisodeWith Whitney and Hope respectively being eliminated after the last two weigh-ins, thirteen contestants remain at the ranch. In the first of the two weeks, the temptation dangled in front of the contestants is the distraction of electronics, as they have been unplugged since arriving on the ranch. Bob informs them that most Americans spend eleven hours a day in front of some sort of electronic device, some of that time which could be spent instead on leading a healthier life, such as working out. The first team challenge reflects the plugged in nature of the world, which they must overcome, to win. The electronic nature of the challenge is combined with a relay obstacle course. The winning team has the option of having access to electronics for the week, including video chats with their loved ones at home, or exclusive use of the gym for the week. The decision is made even more difficult with additional information Bob gives the contestants just before the winning team must choose. That decision not only affects both teams in the most obvious ways, but in ways they probably did not expect. Bob throws the teams for a loop at the weigh-in when he announces that there will be no yellow line, but a red line, meaning that the person with the lowest percentage of weight lost on the losing team is automatically eliminated. In the second of the two weeks, Bob announces another upheaval after the remaining twelve contestants feel like they have achieved some footing and normalcy in their day-to-day ranch lives. This upheaval is the type of situation that they would have to face in the real world, and which they must learn to deal with not to fall into the trap that may lead to bad habits resulting in their weight gain. This upheaval will also affect the trainers, who have no idea what is coming until it happens. The first team challenge for the week is a race to move puzzle pieces stacked on top of a structure made of shipping containers to the top of another similar structure, where they must piece together the puzzle to reveal the prize. Later, they embark on another last chance team challenge of a medley relay, which may either increase or somewhat negate the reward from the first challenge. At the second week weigh-in, at which there will again be a red line, many contestants tell of the difficulties they have had adjusting to life at the ranch after that upheaval, which may be negatively reflected on the scale.
- 2004– 1h 20mTV-PG6.8 (7)TV EpisodeWith Toy and Vicki respectively being eliminated after the last two weigh-ins, nine contestants remain at the ranch. In the first of the two weeks, Bob announces that the team challenge - which entails throwing ten pound medicine balls in a net held up by the opposing team, the winner who either reaches a certain number of "baskets" or the opposing team dropping their net - may be the most important as the reward is that the winning team gets to choose one person from each team to go home for the week with no trainer, and with those two contestants being the only ones whose weight will count at the weekly weigh-in. Who the winning team chooses may surprise. Bob's assertion that they will have no trainers may not be totally accurate. The contestants who remain at the ranch feel somewhat helpless in that their fates are in the hands of two people, over who they have no control, and as Bob further announces that there will be a red line at the weigh-in, meaning no deliberation on who will be going home post-weigh-in. In the second of two weeks, the remaining eight contestants learn that they will be now competing as singles. Their temptation for the week is the real world, where they will have no access to their own gym for the week, and are given choices in what they want to do between working out with a trainer or going on some exciting and potentially weight gaining adventure. During the week, the contestants naturally fall into two camps, which is highlighted by a comment made following the first singles challenge of the season. The challenge is an obstacle course which requires speed, endurance, strength, agility and puzzle solving to win. Those two camps both set out a strategy they hope will take their side into the final four. The weigh-in, in which there will be a yellow line, will test the strength of each alliance.
- 2004– 1h 25mTV-PG6.8 (6)TV EpisodeWith Lauren being eliminated after the last weigh-in, six contestants remain at the ranch after week eleven. In the first of the two weeks, the contestants embark on a reward challenge over a pool climbing a rope using a harness/pulley mechanism, with the rope constantly lengthening. The last person to hit the water wins the challenge and the associated reward of a one pound advantage, and the ability to give a one pound disadvantage to another contestant, that contestant to be announced at the weigh-in. The winner realizes the power that comes with this reward, while the five non-winners realize that they have to work additionally hard to overcome the potential of that extra pound assigned to them. Those five also plead their case to the challenge winner. Bob takes the contestants aside individually to discuss the pitfalls of returning home, which will happen in two weeks regardless. At the weigh-in where the contestants face a yellow line, the effects of the one pound advantage and the one pound disadvantage are revealed. In the second of two weeks, the remaining five contestants embark on the annual shedding your pounds challenge, a race where at eleven check points each contestant will discard weights they are carrying representing the amount of weight they have lost each successive week. This year's race is held in the Hollywood hills. The winner of the challenge faces another temptation of real world benefits versus a game advantage benefit. Dr. Huizenga shows the contestants visually how their health has changed over their time at the ranch. The trainers go through a video montage with each contestant of their weight loss journey. And at the final weigh-in on the ranch, the contestants face a double red line, the results which will identify the three going into the finale.
- A loss by one team causes emotions to run high as the contestants push harder to meet their goals.
- NFL Superstars Jerry Rice and Steve Young and Celebrity Chef Rocco DiSpirito guest star in the Thanksgiving episode.
- Contestants try unusual workouts -- and get six-week progress reports.
- The players encounter temptation, forcing them to assess why they've come to the ranch.
- With Rebecca voted off campus after the last weigh-in, there are five contestants left in the running for the Biggest Loser. Amanda in particular is feeling vulnerable as she realizes that if she falls below the yellow line, she will be voted off. Regardless, this week will be the last week on campus for all five. They are visited by financial expert Suze Orman who relays stories of the financial individual cost of obesity. With this information, the contestants are given a quiz while running on a treadmill, with wrong answers making their treadmill experience more difficult, and correct answers increasing their financial well being. As a reward challenge, the contestants are visited by NFL Hall of Famer Rod Woodson. The contestants' football related challenge not only involves shedding the amount of weight they've lost thus far all over again, but has an added incentive of the winner being able to choose how to do some good for the youth of America. At the weigh-in, the contestants learn the winner of this week gets an extra reward - courtesy of celebrity chef Curtis Stone - which will assist them during their time at home.
- After the last weigh-in, Sean and Antoine sacrificed themselves for Shay's sake and requested that they be voted off the campus, to which the other contestants complied. The actions by Tracey the last week were not well received by the others, which may make her a target. She also receives some news from Dr. Huizenga about her medical situation. The week long challenge the contestants face is no access to the kitchen, meaning that they have to order in all their meals. Bob and Jillian know that they have to make the workouts that much more difficult to compensate for the probable bad food the contestants are eating, but they also assist the contestants by taking them all out for one meal to teach them how to order. Also concerning food, the contestants have a reward challenge on making the smartest food choice among three different chicken meals. For immunity, they have a strength endurance test. The result breaks a mental barrier for one. After the weigh-in, the voting process is a highly emotional one.
- After Abby is voted off campus following the latest weigh-in, the remaining nine contestants are no longer in teams, but are back to being individuals. They are also off to Washington, D.C. to make a difference in the public health of America. They are recruiting people to participate in a mass workout held by Bob and Jillian in front of the Washington Monument. The contestant who recruits the most people gets an advantage at the week's main challenge. That challenge is a four stage race, the bottom contestants who will be dropped from the race after each stage. The winner of the challenge will receive immunity at this week's weigh-in. Also during their stay in the national capital, the contestants meet with federal politicians to discuss the epidemic of obesity in the United States, and meet with White House chefs. Instead of heading back to campus, they hold this week's weigh-in in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
- Daris and Koli, who fell below the yellow line at the last weigh-in, learn who America voted for to join Ashley and Michael in the final three. Three winners from previous seasons watch on from the audience. Another former contestant, Shaye, returns to complete her Subway challenge which started at last season's finale. After weighing-in, Shaye learns that her challenge is not yet complete. Jillian promotes her new show, Losing It with Jillian (2010), on which she tries to complete in a week with home viewers what she has weeks to do on The Biggest Loser. Alison provides an update of the Pound for Pound Challenge. The contestants who did not make the final three are presented and weigh-in to see who will win the $100,000 at home challenge. The final three are then presented and weigh-in to see who will be named the winner of the grand prize $250,000 and this season's title of The Biggest Loser.
- After the latest two weigh-ins, when Don (by choice by throwing the weigh-in) and Larialmy are voted off the ranch, the remaining contestants learn that they are officially split into two teams: the red team who have and will be trained by Cara and Brett, and the black team who have and will be trained by Bob and Jillian. However, those teams may have a few changes based on a Valentine's Day related chocolate temptation challenge. The winner of the challenge has the opportunity to trade up to two members from each team, with the winner even remaining anonymous. However, the ultimate winner of the challenge does decide to reveal him/herself and the reason for the decision made, which results in much discussion on both sides and among the trainers. The two teams also compete in a reward challenge, with six different phases of the challenge to be completed by different contestants chosen based on the theme of that phase. However, they are thrown a loop when those themes end up not being quite what they envisioned. The winning team receives video messages from home. At the post weigh-in vote, the decision becomes one of loyalty versus commitment.
- As those that fell below the yellow line in the penultimate weigh-in, Irene and Jay find out which of the two the American public has voted for to join sisters Hannah and Olivia as one of the final three contestants. Bob, Jillian, Cara and Brett provide their thoughts about their roles and their favorite moments from this year, which will be the last for Jillian. Jillian's replacement trainer for season 12 is introduced: ex-professional tennis player Anna Kournikova. The at-home contestants are introduced and Alison describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to see the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. Alison introduces a segment on the on-going pound for pound challenge. Sisters Hannah and Olivia are then introduced and weigh-in with the third finalist to see who is the winner of the $250,000 and the title of the Biggest Loser Season 11.
- The red team's emotional elimination vote after the last weigh-in resulted in Patrick being the third contestant eliminated. Each team starts the week with some inspirational words and assistance from a Big Loser alumnus, each chosen to fit the appropriate age category of the specific team and each who has maintained their weight loss after their time on the show. The reward challenge is a relay where only the "baton" can move from person to person, while the person at the back on the chain moves to the front and so on. The relay takes the teams through extreme weather conditions, from heat to wind to snow to monsoon rains. The "baton" for each team is actually a box filled with the winners' rewards: letters from home. Alison announces bonus rewards at the race's end. The last chance workout takes each team to a different part of the ranch and a different activity, which especially for Anna feels like home.
- After the latest weigh-in when Coach Mike was voted off campus, the blue team is left with only two contestants. A game of Plinko - a game of total chance - provides the winning contestant a multitude of rewards. One, the contestant gets to go home for the week. Two, their trainer will go with them. And three, they receive immunity from elimination for this week. But these rewards come with much pressure as that winner will be the only person from his/her team whose weight will count for their team at this week's weigh-in. Many of the contestants voice their concern about possibly winning this reward, but the contestant who does ultimately win is excited, which is the exact opposite feeling of their trainer, who doesn't want that person to feel like this week will be a vacation, especially as their teammates are totally relying on them. The departure of that contestant and the trainer brings about a different vibe on the ranch. Cracks start to appear in all three teams, two based on relationships with the trainer, and the third based on not having the trainer around to be the team's glue. The team challenge - whose goal is to fill a glass cylinder with liquid the fastest - is one of speed, endurance and balance. Each winning team member gets to send one person of their choice for a two week stay at the Biggest Loser Resort. The weigh-in brings back the Plinko winning contestant and the trainer from their week away, with that contestant the last to step on the scale. There is much anticipation if that trip home was a boon or a burden.
- Immediately following Gail being voted off the ranch after the latest weigh-in, Alison brings all the contestants together to tell them the deal made to brother and sister Adrian and Daphne, who never made it on to the ranch on the initial show of the season: that if they lost more than a combined 50 pounds during this first month at home, they would earn a place on the ranch. Some of the existing contestants welcome the potential of new contestants, while others see it as being an injustice. Adrian and Daphne also learn that if they make it on to the ranch, they will be split as were all the other couples, and that they will receive immunity from elimination on their first week. The week's team challenge is a race of bouncing medicine balls off a trampoline which must be caught in a net by their teammates. The award for the winning team is the ability to choose one contestant from each team whose weight will not count at this week's weigh-in. During the week, obvious cracks appear on both teams, which the respective trainers try to repair. The black team's crack is between Chris on one side, and Jeremy and Chism on the other, the latter two who voted to eliminate Chris during the latest post-weigh-in vote. The animosity during the week extends to this week's elimination vote.
- Not only Mark but the entire house is reeling from Chism's elimination after the latest weigh-in, he the only contestant on the losing team who did not meet the weight loss goal. His elimination is not the only thing that sends the contestants reeling as Alison tells them of two changes to the game side for the week. First, the contestants will train with the opposing trainer for the week, which causes some tears as some contestants feel a special bond with their own trainer. Bob and Dolvett use this switch to provide the contestants with workouts that may shock their muscles. Dolvett in particular wants to gain trust and get everyone, including himself, outside of their comfort zone. The contestants, however, hope their long time trainer will take into consideration the fact that if they work their new team hard, one from their long time team will potentially go home. And second, at this week's weigh-in, the winning team members will have the only votes in the elimination. This brings out some strategic discussions on both sides. And this week's reward challenge has the contestants searching for barbell weights in a mud pit. The winning team, the first to find forty weights, gains a two pound advantage at the weigh-in.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Jordan is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending him home, while Woody joins Scott at Comeback Canyon. This week proves to be the most divisive yet at the Canyon, as Scott wants retribution for Woody having voted him off the ranch. The stakes are high as the biggest loser at the Canyon this week will be Bob's contestant heading back to the ranch. The remaining four contestants at the ranch have made it to Makeover Week, where they will get fashion styled by Tim Gunn, and their hair done by Ken Paves. Their rewards include an entire new wardrobe, being in a photo shoot which will be featured in Us Weekly, sharing their new selves with family and friends, and being serenaded by Gavin DeGraw. The makeovers prove to be as emotionally transforming as the weight loss journey. Without the four ranch contestants knowing, Woody and Scott are not excluded from the makeovers and the other rewards. But the makeovers take away from workout time, the four ranch contestants who this week will face a yellow line, which ends up having a bit of flexibility.
- One contestant wins a 24-hour visit from a loved one on the 100th episode of "The Biggest Loser".
- Contestants learn to work without the use of the gym.
- Having the lowest percentage of weight loss as a team and being a single member team, John, without deliberation, was sent home after the latest weigh-in. Koli is having doubts about himself being on campus, especially as John, who he feels is more deserving, is no longer there. The contestants learn that for this week, they will now be weighing in as individuals as opposed to teams, two contestants will be sent home (the one with the lowest percentage of weight loss, plus one of the next two who will be voted home), and in the spirit of the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics that they will be training at the US Olympic Training Center much like Olympic athletes do. As a pop challenge, the contestants are required to 500 slides on a slide board (mimicking a speed skating maneuver), with a gold, silver and bronze medal awarded to the top three finishers. Those three get an advantage at the reward challenge, which is styled along the lines of a biathlon. The winner of the reward challenge gets immunity at this week's weigh-in. Because of the travel to and from the Olympic Center and the higher fat food available there, the contestants are all concerned about this week's weigh-in. Following the weigh-in, the two contestants below the yellow line receive a surprise.
- With Allie being voted off the ranch at the last weigh-in, there are fifteen contestants remaining at the ranch. At that last weigh-in, seven of the eight women were below the yellow line, and as such Jillian feels the women have to get out of what she calls their "kum-ba-yah" mentality. That overwhelming atmosphere of bonding and friendship amongst all sixteen contestants has now disappeared with the first elimination, which makes them all truly realize that they are in a competition, however a competition in which two of the remaining fifteen express not wanting to participate, which raises the ire in the remaining thirteen and in Bob. Because of the twists demonstrated in the past week, the trainers are now treating every workout as a last chance workout as no one is aware when the weigh-in will happen. One of those workouts is provided by tennis player Anna Kournikova. The contestants participate in an immunity reward challenge inspired by Anna's visit. That challenge piques the interest of most as it seems as if an alliance of three has formed. When the weigh-in does occur, the fourteen non-immune contestants learn that once again half, or seven in total, will fall below the yellow line, the biggest loser of the week will save one of the those seven, with the remaining six fighting for four spots via an elimination challenge where they must literally grab for the brass ring.
- Immediately following the latest weigh-in when Rick was voted off campus, Alison tells the remaining twelve contestants that at the next weigh-in, only one person's weight will count from each team, that person to be chosen by the opposing team at the weigh-in. This scenario places extra pressure on every single person as the potential one from their team whose weight will count. As such, both Bob and Jillian work their respective team harder than usual, with neither tolerating fits of "drama" as some contestants are apt to do when they don't want to work hard. Their pop challenge involves cooking with chefs Curtis Stone and Lorena Garcia, where three from each team will, with the assistance of one of the chefs, prepare a dish apiece for the remaining six to judge, with the team with the highest overall judged dishes winning a mysterious advantage at the upcoming team challenge. The catches are that the others won't know who cooked what, and neither Chef Curtis or Chef Lorena are allowed to touch the food during its preparation. When the teams learn of the team challenge, they understand the importance of the mysterious "10 second advantage" that Alison mentioned as the pop challenge reward, and learn the importance of the reward with relation to the week's weigh-in. Each team realizes that the obvious choices for the weigh-in are Elizabeth and Jessica based on historically being near the bottom of every weigh-in thus far. Will either team surprise by choosing someone else?
- The two teams of contestants are all tied up this week - literally - in a rope challenge in which teamwork will determine which group of players will get to use the gym this week, and which team will have to be creative and find other places at the ranch to work out. One trainer moves into the house to try and get a contestant to open up, and later, one team wins the chance to block someone's weight on the scale at a wild physical and mental challenge that finds them pushing a train 800 feet while answering food fact questions along the way. Then one player reaches a milestone at the weigh-in before another contestant is eliminated and sent home.
- With Rob and Luis respectively being eliminated after the last two weigh-ins, seven contestants remain at the ranch after week ten, those seven who go into Makeover Week under the guidance of stylist Tim Gunn and hairstylist Ken Paves. Gunn realizes the importance of the makeovers to the seven as a physical manifestation of their weight loss journey, which they may not have fully realized until this time. They will get a chance to share this moment of their new selves with loved ones from home. At a get-together with all seven and their loved ones, Bob announces that those loved ones will be going to the ranch, for what they believe will be a workout with the trainers. Instead, they all learn that one loved one per contestant will be helping in a last chance challenge, a race entailing moving weights from one end of a field to another, and pulling a weight-filled sled across that field. The winner of that challenge receives a stay at a Biggest Loser Resort with that loved one, and a one pound advantage at the week's weigh-in, at which there will be a yellow line. The contestants realize that the makeover may have negatively impinged on their workout time for the week, and thus are all anxious at the weigh-in.
- Contestants get a blast from the past 80's week.
- One contestant breaks a record at weigh-in.
- Popular Chef Rocco DiSpirito Guest Stars - Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito returns to the Biggest Loser to take the contestants to a restaurant, where he teaches them how to make healthier choices when eating out.
- With two couples asked to leave following the bicycling challenge and James being voted off after the first weigh-in, seventeen contestants remain on campus. Jillian and Bob are still feeling out the contestants and try to get to their core issues. Everyone in the gym is feeling the pressure of what is known on the show as the week 2 curse of an extreme drop in weight loss following the first week high. Dr. Huizenga takes each couple aside to demonstrate to them in meaningful ways how their weight issues are negatively affecting their lives. The reward challenge is one of balance and speed, with the ultimate reward for the winner, and the ultimate penalty for the last place team. Extreme fear takes hold of one contestant, which Jillian later helps try and conquer. Going into the weigh-in, the contestants weigh-in as teams, one person from the team with the lowest percentage of weight loss who will be eliminated. Bob calls out one contestant to admit to games playmanship.
- There are five contestant left at the ranch after Ramon is voted off at the latest weigh-in. The five hit two annual Biggest Loser milestone events. The first is the shedding the pounds challenge, where they symbolically place on all the weight they have lost to date, and shed that weight based on weight lost during each week of their stay on the ranch at markers along a race course, which this year is on a steep uphill trail. The challenge, which will award the winner a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in, is an emotional one for most if only because of the memories associated with that extra weight. The second is makeover week, which includes their made-over selves walking the red carpet to attend a special presentation of "Iris" by Cirque du Soleil, and attending that event with a loved one. The loved ones also accompany the contestants back to the ranch, where the trainers take the opportunity to prepare them for their collective post-ranch life after this week, as this week marks the last for all on the ranch. But before everyone heads home, they must find out who will be in the final four, a difficult task if only because of the historically low weight loss numbers associated with makeover week.
- Pam's elimination at the latest weigh-in raises issues for all three teams for this upcoming week. If the white team loses the next weigh-in, not only will their one and only remaining team member, Danni, leave the ranch, but her trainer, Jillian, will as well. The red team, who has won three of four weigh-ins thus far, feels like a target is on their backs. And the blue team, the only one with a still full complement of five members, believes the percentages are not in their favor this week. Never having faced an elimination yet, that fear of losing the weigh-in brings out game playing amongst the individual members, one who feels like giving up based on poor results to date. A challenge for the week is to prove that one can eat healthily on a budget. Each person is given $10 a day and one 15 minute shopping trip for all their food for the upcoming week. The team reward challenge literally is coins in a fountain, not three but rather ten, each weighing five pound apiece, the fountain located in the middle of a pond. The winning team not only gets ten one-year gym memberships, but also a choice of a two-pound advantage at the weigh-in or a telephone call home. And the trainers check in remotely with their child obesity ambassadors to make sure that they are still on the right track.
- The contestants are off on the adventure of a lifetime, headed to Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah, where they'll train like champions and get to meet some incredible Olympic athletes. Dolvett introduces the players to Olympic gold medalist Apolo Ohno, who talks about his own "Second Chance" - this season's theme - and works out with the contestants inside the spectacular Olympic Oval arena. Then the contestants get to compete in the sport of curling, after an introduction to USA Curling team members Jessica Schultz, Debbie McCormick and Anne Swisshelm. The fun continues at the base of the bobsled track, where words of motivation from USA Bobsled Team members Lolo Jones and Jazmine Fenlator get the remaining seven players fired up about the fast-paced sport. But for this week's challenge, they won't be racing down the track. Instead, they will be running more than a mile up the bobsled track, a challenge made far more difficult by the elevation of over 7,000 feet. Also this week, Bob designs an Olympic-inspired workout that puts all the players to the test, and Jillian tries to help a contestant still struggling to embrace her self-worth. Travelling and being away from the ranch environment leaves many contestants worried about their weight loss this week. Those fears intensify at the weigh-in, where surprising results push two players below the yellow line and the other contestants must decide which player is going home.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Gina is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Blake joins Jackie at Comeback Canyon. Bob believes that they are neck and neck in terms of staying or leaving this week based on both losing the same amount of weight last week, but Jackie admits she is fighting against a younger metabolism. At the ranch, three guests come for the week: NFL'ers Michael Irvin, Donald Driver, and Willie McGinest, who will be mentoring the red, white and blue team respectively. Scott feels somewhat embarrassed to be on the contestant side of the coin with his fellow NFL'ers, but he ultimately may get the most this week from their presence. The reward challenge is a football themed one, with the trainers involved. The winning team receives video chats with loved ones. Despite Scott's embarrassment, he and Damien realize that they have an advantage with this challenge based on their professional football history. And at the last chance workout, everyone can feel that there is a palpable energy from having the three football players training with them.
- Husband-and-wife teams and parent-adult child teams compete in the must-see season premiere.
- This week kicks off with a temptation that host Alison Sweeney tells the contestants will allow one player to reunite with their teammate at home and bring their trainer with them. But the reunion doesn't go exactly as planned when fireworks erupt between the two teammates after one player accuses the other of not doing all she can to stay on the ranch.
- With Lance voted off the last weigh-in, he is sent home. Or is he? All the contestants who have previously been voted off campus, with the exception of Migdalia who is dealing with a personal issue at home, are back, one of whom will be invited back on campus, that person to be chosen purely by vote of the on-campus contestants. The only rule is that one cannot vote for their own family member. After the invited player is named, Alison announces one last challenge for one of the off campus contestants to get back on campus. The challenge opens up old wounds between various players. Both returning players receive immunity for the week. All the contestants also learn that they are no longer in teams, but are now competing as individuals. The two returning players and being back to singles brings up issues in the contestants' minds.
- The competition heats up when the players learn that whoever loses 2% of their body weight first this week gets immunity. The catch is that only one person gets immunity and they only get one shot to weigh in whenever they think they've reached that goal. Later, the players head to the pool for a swimming challenge involving weights. After each contestant finishes the race, they are allowed to go back and help others finish, which proves very revealing about who the players want to stay in the game -- and who they don't.
- Melissa was voted off campus at the latest weigh-in. The remaining contestants learn this week about the value of money in relation to their weight. They have a pop challenge of balancing quarters on a tray, the last contestant standing to receive forty times the amount of money on their tray. The winner and runner-up of the challenge later learn of a bonus. The contestants are then visited by financial guru Suze Orman, who teaches them about the connection between physical health and financial health. She also makes a prediction on who this year's winner will be based on financial information they provide her. Season eight winner, Danny Cahill, provides a real life example to which the contestants can relate. The reward challenge for the week has the contestants racing to find one of the two keys among one hundred twenty keys that will start a brand new car. This challenge is made all the more difficult by mother nature. But the weather also provides an opportunity for an interesting workout. The trainers place much of their focus this week on Vicky, the relative newcomer who still has not figured out the reasons for her weight problems.
- This week starts off with a high-stakes pop challenge in which contestants race for the prize of immunity - and the winning team also gets three envelopes to give to the teams of their choice with instructions that could have a dramatic impact at this week's weigh in. Also, tensions are high between the trainers and one team suspected of game play, and a lifting competition rewards the winning team with a prize that everyone wants.
- At the last weigh-in, Migdalia was voted off campus. The campus is not only down one contestant but two as one is sent to hospital temporarily on a medical issue. But two others ultimately return to campus as the at home challenge given to Victoria and Cherita and Sunshine and O'Neal, which the on-campus contestants did not know about, comes to an end and the four return to campus to weigh-in. Before doing so, they go through what Bob calls the Biggest Loser rite of passage: a last chance workout. The returning team is told that they will receive immunity for the week, but that they are also given ultimate power: the only vote at the week's all contestant weigh-in. During the week, Bob and Jillian each focus in on a few contestants to get to the bottom of their weight issues. The reward challenge is a Super Bowl week football related challenge, with the winning team receiving immunity at the week's weigh-in, the losing team getting a two-pound penalty.
- After the latest weigh-in, Melissa leaves the campus as the person who fell below the red line. Cheryl and Darrell, the two contestants who fell below the yellow line, complete their one-on-one challenge to see who goes home and who stays. Following, the remaining contestants, who were only last week told they were playing now as individuals, now learn that they will now be placed on teams, however not their original couple partnership, but a blue team trained by Bob, and a black team trained by Jillian. The winner of a temptation challenge has the power to select those teams, as well as select one undesignated person (which may be him/herself) to receive immunity for the week. The person with immunity will ultimately be on the team which loses a player at this week's weigh-in. Without knowing what the temptation challenge is, each contestant has to decide if they want to participate. After making the decision to play, those players have some regrets in that the temptations (consumption of high calorie foods) are not choices but necessary penalties of the game. The choices made by the winner of the challenge bother many of the other contestants, as well as Bob and Jillian. This week's reward challenge is one of strength and working together as a team. The winning team's rewards are letters from home. Before this week's weigh-in, the contestants have a reassessment by Dr. Huizenga.
- After the latest weigh-in, Miggy was voted off campus. O'Neal, replacing Miggy on the blue team, was afraid that SunShine was the contestant voted off. Starting from last week, the teams continue their David vs. Goliath mentality, the black team being David, the blue team being Michael-stacked Goliath which nonetheless lost the previous weigh-in. The contestants immediately learn their reward challenge for the week: pulling a 33,000 pound semi-trailer truck and putting together a puzzle at the finish line. The reward challenge is quickly dispensed of as, for the week, the contestants are moving back to something resembling real life. They will commute by bus to and from a job - volunteering for Feeding America at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank - working an eight hour shift each day. In addition, like real life, they must think about what they will eat during their work day, and the gym will only be open for certain hours, meaning that they only have a limited amount of time to work out before and/or after their job.
- This week, the blue team squares off against the black team in a food trivia pop challenge that will send the winning team via limo to a day of pampering and luxury while the losing team has to stay behind and clean up the kitchen and the gym! Then popular chef Curtis Stone stops by to help host Alison Sweeney judge a food cook-off challenge. Each team has 30 minutes to make an appetizer, entrée and dessert using only 12 ingredients, and the team who wins the taste test gets a big advantage at this week's weigh in. Then an emotional elimination round sends another player home.
- Immediately following the latest weigh-in when Adam was voted off the ranch, the remaining eleven contestants learn that they will immediately leave for their new training site to work with their new trainers for the week: Camp Pendleton with the US Marine Corps. Upon arrival at camp, some are buoyed by the discipline they feel they require to achieve their weight loss goal, while others feel they can't handle the boot camp style of training. They learn that everything they do, part of the marine code, is to work as a team and never to leave one of their team behind. Their first task is to hike with full gear to their barracks. Their team challenge for the week is to complete an obstacle course as a team, each member having a thirty pound pack on their back, which they can redistribute amongst their team members as the team sees fit. The winning and losing team are only as strong as their weakest team member. The winning team's reward is telephone calls from home. Bob and Jillian resume their training roles for the last chance workout, but are concerned about what has happened during the week when they were not present. At the weigh-in, the last contestant to weigh in has an unusual prediction.
- Sunny, the latest eliminated contestant, is not the only one going home, as life on the ranch has also finished for the four remaining contestants. Although all four go home to hero's welcomes and deal with how they will handle life off the ranch, Vinnie in particular deals with a painful part of his past, and makes an important decision about his future. Each of those four also receives not only a video visit from their trainer, but a real life visit from them as well, plus a video visit from an important person from their past who will hopefully be a reminder to keep them on their new life path. But their life at home is short lived as the four, plus all the eleven eliminated contestants are finally at the stage of competing in the Biggest Loser marathon. Alison tells them that the winner will not only be an automatic finalist, but that the top five finishers will also receive cash prizes, the winner receiving $25,000. One contestant opts out of the race due to medical reasons. The remaining fourteen are all determined to finish the race, but Dr. Huizenga may have a different opinion for a few based on his diagnosis for their long term healthy life. Regardless of the race outcome, the final four (or three if the marathon winner is one of the four) enter into the week's weigh-in to determine the finalists, who are automatically the ones with the highest percentage of weight loss.
- Tanya feels extra pressure on herself this week as Dolvett used his one and only trainer save of the season at the last weigh-in to keep her on the ranch. The fourteen remaining contestants compete in their first temptation challenge - a Halloween themed one - the winning team which will receive immunity at the next weigh-in as long as none on that team gains any weight. In a patch of one hundred pumpkins, the contestants, one by one by team, have to choose a pumpkin, one which contains the immunity ticket. The other ninety-nine pumpkins contain either a cash prize which the individual keeps, or a Halloween treat. If the contestant chooses not to eat the treat, their team sits out the remainder of the challenge. One team does receive that immunity, which places pressure on the two losing teams. This week, Dolvett's red team seems as a collective to be falling victim to light-headedness during their workouts. Jillian worries about two of her team members, namely Jay whose hip is not feeling good, and Tumi, who doesn't seem to have any aggression in the way she works out. And Bob focuses his attention on motivating Holley, which he hopes will spark his other team members as well. All the contestants receive gifts, which may help them out emotionally. At the weigh-in, the team(s) without saves or immunity worry about the red line.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Mike is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending him home, while Gina joins Matt at Comeback Canyon. Bob designs the workout to deal with both Matt and Gina's issues, Matt's being working in a team to achieve goals and Gina's to deal with committing to fear inducing tasks. At the ranch, Jessie takes Lori back in history to get her to a better place emotionally. The contestants and their trainers head to the pool for the team challenge, which entails three contestants per team holding onto to 15% of their body weight to prevent their trainer from falling into the pool. The first team to drop their trainer will not have access to their trainer at all for the week. The second team to drop their trainer will only have their trainer for the last chance workout. In the aftermath of the challenge, one person from the losing team goes back to their athlete days to take control of their training for the week. The team with only their trainer for the last chance workout ends up getting an especially intense workout. The weigh-in demonstrates how needed their trainer was as one person on the losing team falls below the red line and is automatically eliminated.
- The fourteen contestants learn that they will be joined on the ranch by two of the seven eliminated contestants, those two being "saved", one each by Bob and Jillian. They also learn that despite wearing a same colored t-shirt as the other contestant that made it through from their city, each of the sixteen contestants is competing as an individual. The sixteen go through their first workout with Bob and Jillian, and have their first assessment by Dr. Huizenga. Both processes are eye opening experiences, and not in good ways for most. Bob and Jillian also take the contestants into the kitchen to discuss their diet, past and future. Aaron, Brendan and Mark receive presents from home based on the discussions in the kitchen. Alison drops two bombshells on the contestants regarding their first weigh-in on the ranch: it will done earlier than they expected, and the yellow line will not be above the bottom two contestants but rather the bottom half of all the contestants. Although most contestants end up posting big weight loss numbers, the euphoria quickly turns to dismay for some as one by one a contestant falls below the yellow line. After the weigh-in, Alison tells those below the yellow line that six will be safe, one by decision, the other five in a race for their on-ranch life.
- At the last weigh-in, the contestants in combination didn't meet the weight-loss target, meaning that they had to vote one contestant off the ranch, that being Marci. The remaining contestants learn that they will be split into four teams, each team under a different trainer: Bob's blue team, Jillian's black team, Cara's green team and Brett's red team. The teams are chosen by lot. With eleven contestants, there will be three contestants per team with one team consisting of only two players, or... The two contestant team learn that they will have the opportunity to choose any eliminated contestant to bring back to fill that team's complement of three. For their first workout, Bob takes the blue to his spin class at Crunch Gym. Jillian takes the black team to her Malibu beach house to work out on the beach. Brett takes the red team on a mountaintop hike to get them back to a zen mentality about their journey. And Cara takes the green team to the Trinity Boxing Club. The team challenge has each team holding onto the amount of weight they have lost for as long as possible, with the winning team receiving video chats with loved ones. The contestants learn that the members of the team losing the weigh-in will not vote to send one of their team members home, but rather members of the other teams will vote which of the two contestants up for elimination will be leaving the ranch. The weigh-in and vote are emotional, especially as one contestant's plan did not come to fruition.
- After the latest weigh-in when Courtney was automatically evicted from the ranch (which also meant that with the demise of the red team, Brett was also asked to leave since he no longer had anyone to train), the remaining nine contestants learn that they will be spending the week in New Zealand. The trip ends up being an emotional one for Moses, whose father spent much time there as he was growing up. The start of their trip incorporates many adventure elements, two which include Auckland's Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere. One of those adventures makes one contestant and one trainer face their ultimate fear. The team challenge - a 5 kilometer race - also incorporates adventure elements in that it is run across rugged mountain terrain, which includes running through a creek bed and climbing up a slippery sand dune. The first workout brings out a difference in opinion between Ken and Cara. During the last chance work-out where Bob leads everyone - including the other trainers - in a yoga session, Cara takes Ken aside to deal with his issues. Despite the spectacular nature of the setting, everyone is concerned about the week's weigh-in, especially due to the toll the travel may have taken on their bodies.
- Following the latest weigh-in when Moses was voted the next eliminated contestant, the remaining eight head to Queentown, New Zealand, where they learn they are now competing as singles who have access to all the trainers, including Brett. The adventure nature of their stay in New Zealand continues with a few doing the canyon swing, a few doing a rock climb, and a few doing a bungee jump - including one who usually watches such things from the sidelines - where the activity originated. One contestant makes an admission about a previous near death experience which makes doing the adventure more poignant. The adventure challenge is one of river riding, the winner to receive two rewards, one being immunity at this week's weigh-in. The trainers work the contestants particularly hard because of the fact of them still traveling which takes its toll on the body, as well as the generally poor results from last week. Regardless of the weigh-in results, the contestants relish the spectacular nature of the weigh-in's setting.
- Alison greets the twenty season 13 contestants outside the gates of the ranch, the contestants who are in couples (siblings, parents and children, spouses, friends, etc.). They learn that the theme for this season is "no excuses". They also learn that one couple will not make it through the gates of the ranch, they who are last place couple in a three phase challenge, where the four leading couples move on after the first phase, an additional four after the second phase, and the final couple after the third phase. However, the losing couple is provided some incentive to do well in their weight loss journey at home. The eighteen contestants who proceed through the gates of the ranch then meet the two trainers for the season - Bob and Dolvett - with who they are provided a two hour training session before the contestants choose with which trainer they want to train. The contestants will ultimately be in two teams of nine. At the end of the two hour session, which ends up being a difficult process for many, the contestants learn the rules of the selection process, which does not sit well with many of them. At the first last chance workout, the competition heats up not only between the contestants on the two teams, but also between the trainers as Dolvett notices the work ethic of his team compared to Bob's. Dolvett is determined that his team will not to lose to Bob's at the inaugural weigh-in as his team did so often in season 12.
- Falling on the sword for his team, Ben is the first eliminated player of the season, leaving the black team down a contestant. Alison informs both teams that the person with the highest percentage of weight loss on this week's winning team will be able to provide immunity from elimination for one player on the opposing team. Everyone is gearing for this achievement as they will provide that immunity to their loved one on the opposing team. Alison also requests two volunteer leaders from each team without telling them what they will be required to do. It ends up being a gambling game, where the leaders bid on what percentage of weight they think they will lose this week, with the team making the final bid gaining a five pound weight advantage at the weigh-in if they make that weight goal. If they fail to make that weight goal, the opposing team wins a five pound advantage at the weigh-in. The final bid ends up surprising both teams, including the trainers, which leads to the two bidders having potential targets on their backs for elimination if they fail to make the weight loss goal. That weight loss goal stands heavy on the bidding team's mind throughout the week. That bid also results in a sometimes not so friendly competition between the teams, each accusing the other of childish behavior. This feud extends to the trainers, who each have problem team members with regard to focus during the workouts. Despite the trainers wanting to foster a unified team mentality, a major crack forms on the red team. The first team challenge of the season is truly a team effort in strength, endurance and visual puzzle solving ability, with each person on the winning team earning the Biggest Loser meal plan for six months after they go home. The result of the post weigh-in elimination vote turns out to be an inevitability after the first couple of votes and resulting discussion, which devolves into a finger pointing yelling session. Meanwhile, Dr. Huizenga speaks to half brothers Mike and Joe, perhaps the two unhealthiest people on the ranch, about their genetic disposition toward disease and their unrealistic mentality toward their respective lifestyles. And nutritionist Rachel Beller teaches the contestants how to go food shopping properly. She also visits Adrian and Daphne in Chicago to assist in their at-home food planning.
- As those that fell below the yellow line in the penultimate weigh-in, Jackson and Joe find out which of the two the American public has voted for to join Danni and Jeff as one of the final three contestants. Bob, Jillian, and Dolvett provide their thoughts about this season and their interactions with the contestants and with each other. Interspersed with other segments is the story of each of the three childhood obesity ambassadors, each who has a special outcome from their journey thus far. The at-home contestants are introduced and Alison describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to determine the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. Alison introduces a segment on the Challenge America program, for which each trainer introduces a member of the American public who has gone through their own weight loss journey at home. Alison also introduces Jared Fogle, who announces one of the two Biggest Loser contestants who will star in a Subway commercial with him. Danni and Jeff are then introduced and weigh-in with the third finalist to see who is the winner of the $250,000 and the title of the Biggest Loser Season 14.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, JJ is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending him home, while Jordan joins Scott at Comeback Canyon. The remaining five contestants spend their second of two weeks on the island of Kauai, primarily in the jungle as opposed to the first week which was largely on the beach. Beyond the workouts, many of the activities are symbolic of rebirth and renewal and/or letting go of fear. Dolvett wants Rob to let go of that fear, which Dolvett feels has held Rob back from accomplishing so much more in his life, with his symbolic activity being to repel down a waterfall. As opposed to Rob who has to hold on in his activity, Jessie asks Lori to let go of a rope, which will drop her down a giant swing, symbolizing her heading to new heights. And at Comeback Canyon, Bob asks both Jordan and Scott to balance on a beam twenty-five feet above ground, symbolizing the balance they will have to find in their life, before jumping off to new adventures. Many find it difficult to do these symbolic gestures. The reward challenge, the winner of which who will receive a one pound advantage at the weigh-in, is a combination obstacle course/lacrosse skill test, the combination which proves to be difficult for most. And at the weigh-in, the five, who return to the ranch, face a red line this week.
- With Lori eliminated at the last weigh-in, there are four contestants left at the ranch vying for the final three spots in the finale. Jenna Wolfe, seven months pregnant, comes in as this week's guest trainer, she who wants to show the contestants how to work out at home with no equipment. Meanwhile, Bob trains the three trainers to show the contestants that their journey is a never-ending one, where trainers too have to put in effort in their workouts time and time again. The four contestants go back to where it all started seventeen weeks ago, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the site of the week's reward challenge, which is a race along a set route through the coliseum with sixteen checkpoints, each point where the contestants will literally shed weight equivalent to the amount they lost at each of the sixteen weigh-ins thus far. The first person to cross the finish line wins a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in, and a $5,000 cash prize. Each of the contestants is provided a video diary of their seventeen week journey thus far. The last chance workout is a bittersweet one as the last on the ranch, before the contestants endure their final weigh-in at the ranch and a red line.
- With Tina voted off the ranch after the last weigh-in, there are fourteen remaining contestants, who learn that there will be two lines this week, a half group yellow line, and a one person red line, that person being the contestant with the lowest percentage of weight loss and who will immediately be leaving the ranch. These two lines mean that two people will be going home this week. This news makes the reward temptation challenge all the more important for those that either feel the need for the reward based on low percentage of weight loss in previous weeks, or want the perceived power. The reward is a one pound advantage coupon that grows by one pound each week that it is not used. As the temptation was cupcakes, chef Curtis Stone teaches the contestants how to make low calorie cupcakes. The contestants are once again surprised by a mid-week weigh-in. After the weigh-in, Jillian takes aside one contestant who hasn't yet felt an emotional breakthrough despite having consistently good weight loss at the ranch. And Bob takes the below the yellow line contestants on a special outing, before four or five of the six of them compete in the elimination challenge (with one saved and one excluded for a medical issue, those two who could be the same person), where they have to roll out the carpet. Alison has one more surprise for the remaining twelve contestants after the vote.
- The contestants will compete in a challenge and then get to make a game-changing decision in the order in which they finished. Host Alison Sweeney will offer the eleven family and friend teams of two the unprecedented opportunity to choose whether to work out with trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels at the ranch - or work out at a secret location with two unknown trainers, whose identities will initially remain a mystery. If the contestants choose the new trainers, whom they know nothing about, they'll receive four weeks of immunity. If they choose to stay at the ranch and be trained by Bob and Jillian, they're at risk of going home after just one week.
- The contestants are excited to hear from host Alison Sweeney that they will all be going home for two weeks. Each player returns home to emotional reunions with friends and family, after which they navigate the challenges of being back in their real lives, facing the same temptations that brought them to the ranch and realizing all of the things they are capable of doing now that they couldn't do before. When they come back to the ranch, they'll compete in a 5K challenge on a treadmill just as they did in the first episode of the season, but this time, they're going to run the 5K all by themselves. And just as before, each will pick who they want to train them - Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels or Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel-in the order in which they finish the challenge. Then a few contestants reach milestones at the weigh-in, after which another player is sent packing.
- With Jennifer being automatically evicted from the ranch after the latest weigh-in, Courtney is the only remaining red team member. She sees it both as a blessing and a curse, but also realizes that her recent weigh-ins have been less than impressive and needs to figure out why. The teams have a maximum 15 minute challenge to determine what they believe is a mile distance, with the winning team receiving a Hollywood night out, and the losing teams doing clean-up duty on the ranch, including in the sweat drenched gym. The night out ends up being more memorable for one of the contestants. During the week's training, the green team hits an obstacle. Jillian calls out Rulon on what she hears is his late-night junk food binges. At the weigh-in, the results end up being as emotional for the trainers as it does for the contestants.
- The eleven remaining contestants learn that Daphne - the contestant who was eliminated after the latest weigh-in and elimination vote - is not the only person going home this week. All eleven will be heading home for an eighteen day period to face the pressures of losing weight while living their real life. They also learn that any contestant who loses at least five percent of their body weight will automatically earn immunity from elimination at the next weigh-in, and if all on the losing team reach that five percent goal, no one will be eliminated for the week. Once home, the contestants learn that simultaneously they will be participating in the week's reward challenge. All contestants are provided a rowing machine, which are theirs to keep. The first contestant to row 10,000 meters will additionally win $10,000, which Alison will announce once the contestants return back to the ranch. The contestants find the biggest challenge over the eighteen days is maintaining a "normal" relationship with friends and family, while maintaining their own diet and not forcing anyone else to adhere to that diet. While most seem to succeed, one admits to the stresses of being at home taking its toll. Back at the ranch, the trainers work their team members especially hard at the last chance workout. The weigh-in ends up being an especially emotional one.
- With Cassandra's elimination after the latest weigh-in and vote, Emily and Kim feel vulnerable for elimination. That fear is lessened with an announcement by Alison: that all the contestants are now singles, meaning that there will be for the first time this season a yellow line. Emily and Kim feel they need to stay above the yellow line at the weigh-in to control their own destiny. With Buddy not cleared medically to compete, the remaining eight contestants compete in a seven round reward challenge, with each round having the contestants all tied to a ring. Each person is trying to reach their buzzer which is located in opposite directions from everyone else's, meaning that they have to pull all the other contestants in their direction. The first to reach their buzzer wins the round and sits out the remaining rounds. Each contestant does win a reward, which is determined on the old "white elephant" gift giving method. One of those rewards is a fashion shopping spree for two with an unnamed fashion icon. During the week's workouts, Bob and Dolvett take aside Emily and Kimmy respectively, to deal with the issues which got them to their initial overweight status. And after the weigh-in and vote, the eliminated contestant embarks on a new life path with the help of a former contestant.
- The white team is reeling as Nathan is eliminated at the latest weigh-in, he the third member who the team has lost in only two weeks, with theirs being the only team that is no longer at the full complement of five. Alison gives the teams a trivia test on childhood obesity, the losing team which is given what they consider the worst punishment: having to spend four and a half hours every day this week locked in a typical childhood obesity room filled with junk food, televisions and video games. As that time takes away from their workout time, the trainer of the eventual losing team is determined to make the best out of this bad situation. Two contestants on two different teams have a bad week mentally, while another decides at least temporarily to switch trainers to get a different perspective both on workouts and the emotional cause behind her weight gain. The three childhood obesity participants, at home this week, are visited by "Dr. Joanna" who gives them and their families health and nutrition advice. The week's team challenge is at a make-shift carnival, which are notorious for junk food. The contestants literally are weighed down by this junk food in this challenge. At the elimination weigh-in, the contestants learn that there is no red line this week, but will be the first time that the losing team will vote out one of their own, the only person on that team immune being the one with the highest percentage of weight loss. Alison shows them this season's new voting room, which none want to have to visit again.
- With Sophie being below the red line and Burgandy the person voted off of those below the yellow line after the last weigh-in, there are twelve contestants left on campus... or so those twelve believe. However, the five contestants who never made it onto the ranch arrive, with the one of those five with the highest percentage of weight loss coming onto campus to compete with the twelve. That person learns that he/she will wield much power as that person will also determine the newly formed teams: six on the black team who will train with Jillian, and six on the blue team who will train with Bob, with the final person, who will have immunity for the week, being allocated to the team who loses a contestant this week. That person makes a surprise decision which may be their downfall if the plotting on the ranch works the way those contestants determine. The game playing irks Bob and Jillian, who get wind of the plot. Beyond their first workout, their first team task is a reward challenge, where, as a team, they must race through downtown Los Angeles the fastest, with a different team member answering a food related question at each of six stops, with wrong answers resulting in that team member needing to complete a workout time penalty. The challenge ends with surprising and selfless results. This week's weigh-in ends up being an emotional one based on the thoughts of game play.
- Adrian's elimination from the ranch after the latest weigh-in and vote results in a finger pointing match between Conda and Daphne. Alison announces that two additional contestants will be going home for the week, one from each team, those respective contestants whose weight will be the only one that counts for their team at this week's weigh-in. The choice of the contestants will be made by the respective trainers, who end up making unconventional choices. The trainers will accompany their chosen team member home. Some of the contestants are relieved not to be chosen, while one feels betrayed by not being chosen. Alison also informs the teams that the teams' weight loss for the week will be important as the winning team will give their team member a one-pound advantage at the weigh-in. Without their trainers, the two teams struggle to maintain an intense workout schedule. The winning team in this week's team challenge will also provide a one-pound advantage at the weigh-in to their team member, as well as receive Valentine's letters from home. That challenge, held on the beach, is to get all team members plus a 200 pound dummy under a series of three logs. Meanwhile, the trainers try to understand what got their chosen team member to their overweight condition. One trainer takes his team member to the place where the weight loss began, while the other trainer uses the built landscape as the workout venue. And the specter of Adrian hangs over the weigh-in.
- 2004– 1h 26mTV-PG6.1 (8)TV EpisodeThe joy the final five feel at the latest weigh-in by all making it past that weigh-in is slightly deflated by the news that at the next weigh-in, the penultimate, there will be a red line, the contestant falling below that being automatically eliminated, and a yellow line, the two contestants falling below that being possibly eliminated from the competition based on a public vote leading to the finale. That means that the top two for the week automatically make it into the final three, with the winner of the public vote being the third finalist. The childhood obesity ambassadors join the contestants on the ranch for this, their final week on the ranch. All are provided a video diary of their eleven week journey to this point. Dr. Joanna provides the childhood obesity ambassadors updates on their health status, while Dr. H provides good news to the one contestant who may be the poster child not only for this season but for the entire series in how that person's health has improved to a state of the most conditioned athletes. The trainers get emotional as they deal with the five and how attached to them they have become. And one contestant makes it one step closer to the finale by winning the annual shedding the pounds challenge - this year's edition taking placing on a snowy uphill slope - as that winner who gets a one pound advantage at that penultimate weigh-in.
- A roll of the die determines whose weight will count at the weigh-in.
- It's a busy week at "The Biggest Loser" ranch, which kicks off with a fun bouncing ball challenge that will award members of the winning team a welcome cash prize.
- The remaining contestants learn that Holley, who lost the latest weigh-in, is not the only person going home this week, as one other will be spending the week at home. That person will bring along his/her trainer, and his/her weight will be the only one counting for his/her team at the next weigh-in. The person chosen to head home is determined by luck, based on the spin of a wheel. That trainer believes this situation is bad for all on their team as it takes away from the workout of the team members still on the ranch, and that the time at home for the chosen one will be too much of a distraction. After all is said and done, that trainer has a change of heart as to the initial belief that the cons would outweigh the pros of that person being sent home. One trainer ends up taking over the reigns for that missing trainer's team members still on the ranch. The week's workouts on the ranch bring two contestants back to activities that they participated in in high school, that return to the past which is a scary prospect for one. Eliminated contestant Holley talks about her new Olympic-related goals. And the weigh-in highlights some quiet animosity between members of a certain team regarding effort versus resulting reward.
- Alison introduces the theme for the season - athletes trying to regain their former glory - before she introduces the four trainers, Jen, Jessie, Dolvett, and Bob, the latter who provides his thoughts about the concept of and atmosphere at Comeback Canyon. While Jen and Jessie talk of being the new trainers this season, Dolvett talks about what made this season special compared to previous seasons. The at-home contestants are introduced and Alison describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to determine the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. The trainers interview audience members who have gone through their own at-home weight loss journey, Jared Fogle, Subway spokesperson, who has a special message for them. Alison then introduces the three finalists - Rob, Sonya and Toma. The four trainers present a special video gift for the finalists. The three finalists then weigh-in for the final time to see who is the winner of the $250,000 and the title of the Biggest Loser Season 16.
- After the latest weigh-in when Austin was voted off the ranch, the remaining contestants - Hannah, Irene, Jay and Olivia - have a moment to celebrate the fact of being "the final four". They are also lauded by Alison and the trainers for the achievement and hard work it took to make this milestone. They all realize that the journey is not yet over, and the longer the journey, the more difficult it becomes to remain in the quest for the big prize, hence the trainers vow to work the final four harder so that they can make the top three. The pop challenge for the week is a cooking challenge, to make the best tasting turkey burger for a group of judges with discerning palates: children. The pop challenge winner receives a food prize worth $5,000 and a two week stay at the Biggest Loser Resort for a loved one. The final challenge is the annual "shedding the pounds" challenge, this time held over the length of an eighteen-hole golf course, where the pounds are shed with each week on the ranch corresponding to each of the eighteen holes. The winner receives a home gym worth $15,000. After the final on-ranch weigh-in which determines the two finalists and the two who will vie for the third and final spot through votes by the American public, the four contestants head home, but not without a keepsake from their twenty-week on ranch journey.
- Since the theme for the year is battle of the ages, the fifteen contestants, who are dropped in the middle of the California desert on their first meeting, are separated into three teams based on age: under thirty, over fifty, and those in-between. Each team will run a mile race across the desert as a team to be able to choose their team trainer: Anna's blue team, Bob's black team, and Dolvett's red team. At the end of the race, they learn that they will all be back to that spot just before the finale to run a marathon, the winner of that race to become an automatic finalist no matter if he/she has already been eliminated. The first workout is an eye opening experience for most, but especially for an ex-professional athlete who ended up being in worse shape than he ever imagined. In the middle of the week, one contestant receives some bad news from home, which ends up being a focusing experience. The first weigh-in yields mixed results, which in turn leads to the first eliminated contestant of the season.
- Alliances are perceived to be breaking as Joe is voted off the ranch after the latest weigh-in. Those alliances take on new meaning for the remaining seven as they move into competing as singles, with this week's weigh-in being the first for the season with a yellow line. The challenge for the week is modeled on a pentathlon, with each of the five events garnering the contestants scores of up to 7. Events test athletic prowess (whether it be in the form of speed, strength, agility and/or balance), knowledge or pure luck. The contestant with the highest score by the end of the fifth event receives immunity for the week. The contestant with the lowest score receives a one pound disadvantage at the weigh-in. With those events where strategy comes into play, some contestants remain true to their alliances while others play solely for their own benefit. Dolvett uses the week to bond with the two he is training, most specifically John who he wants to open up more both to himself and to his training methods. Bob remarks on a Biggest Loser first, where the last chance workout for the week is not true to its name as the the last event for the pentathlon, an athletic one, occurs after the workout. The contestants are provided assistance in that event by multiple Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno.
- Roy was eliminated after the latest weigh-in and elimination vote. The remaining contestants go into a temptation challenge consisting of plates of their respective favorite foods, which they can eat as much as they want in three minutes. The person who consumes the most calories has the ability to switch up the team members in any way he/she sees fit. What makes it even more attractive for some is that the winner will remain anonymous. The winner of the challenge makes what most of the others don't understand from a strategic standpoint, and thus feel that the changes were done for more of a personal reason, which not only affect the people involved in the change but the entire house. The trainer of the temptation challenge winner finds out who it is and encourages that person to admit to making the change so that the toxic feelings pervading the house will cease. Will that person heed the advice and if so will it heal the wounds? The newly formed teams enter into their first team challenge, which is one of strength and puzzle solving, the winning team members to receive a two-week stay at the Biggest Loser Resort. Both Bob and Dolvett take aside one respective team member to focus on some personal issues. By the weigh-in, there is obvious manipulation by some people to steer the elimination vote in their favor.
- The contestants arrive back to the ranch from Hawaii without Kimmy, who was the eliminated contestant after the latest weigh-in and vote. Their first task is a pop challenge, one of each packing one hundred fifty 15-20 pound boxes onto a truck, the first person to do so winning a one pound advantage at this week's weigh-in. They also win an over 30,000 pound delivery of food to their local food bank courtesy of Newman's Own. The contestants who don't win that challenge have motivation of their own to complete the challenge. Because of the week's theme of "exercise is boring", the trainers decide to change up their workouts, one of Dolvett's which Buddy allows himself to let loose. Bob decides to focus his attentions this week on Megan, who he feels has not yet reached her potential. The week's challenge is a cooking one where each contestant will have seven minutes to shop and twenty minutes to prepare an entrée which will be judged on creativity, taste and health by three season 12 contestants. The winning contestant wins $1,000 for every pound lost this week. That surprise winner takes the challenge of losing as much weight as possible to heart. Another contestant takes a comment from the challenge also to heart, which may set that person's weight loss journey on a backward trajectory.
- First Lady Michelle Obama welcomes the final six contestants, their families and the trainers into the White House. She congratulates them on their weight loss and associated health journeys. Both Bob and Dolvett lead the group, including the First Lady, in a twenty minute workout at the White House. The contestants also learn from Mrs. Obama that they each are in the running for the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award. The competition consists of Americans signing up under the banner of one of the six to lead a healthy lifestyle for six consecutive weeks. The contestant who has the most people complete the challenge under their banner will have a furnished gym built in their hometown. Being away from the ranch provides the contestants contact with home, one which leads to an emotional breakdown and a binge eating session. That contestant, who eventually gets back on track with help from his/her trainer, will see if that binge negatively affects the weight loss for the week. At the post weigh-in vote back at the ranch, one contestant who does fall below the yellow line learns that he/she is not as alone in the ranch as he/she believed.
- The contestants travel to Hawaii.
- Tensions rise when contestants learn from host Alison Sweeney that two players will be eliminated this week - so only six of the eight remaining players will still be in the game after the weigh-in. With the stakes so high, players are more determined than ever to stay above the yellow line. First, there's a tennis ball pop challenge that rewards the winner with an advantage at weigh-in. Then the contestants have to jump through hoops - literally - when they head to the circus for a lively challenge with the coveted prize of immunity for whoever wins. Later, contestants are led by trainer Bob Harper through a wild, trapeze-swinging last chance workout, only to return to the ranch and find trainer Jillian Michaels ready to put them through a second, grueling last chance workout. Then a dramatic weigh-in leads to heartbreaking eliminations as the contestants say goodbye to two more players.
- After the previous weigh-in, Sherry was voted off campus. The remaining contestants learn that Sherry is not the only one going home - all the contestants are going home for one week. Michael in particular is relishing this opportunity to visit with his ill grandmother. Waiting for each contestant at home are two boxes and a DVD on which Alison explains what they are to do with the boxes' contents. They involve in combination a reward challenge and a temptation. Beyond the challenge, the pressures of real life weigh-in on the minds of some more than others. Will those stresses translate into this week's weigh-in?
- Alison first introduces the band Train, who perform their new song, "Brand New Book", which they wrote specifically as the new theme song for the show. After doing a retrospective of the season, Alison introduces the three trainers - Bob, Anna and Dolvett - who provide their perspective of the season, for Anna and Dolvett their first. She then introduces the twelve eliminated contestants in three groups of four. One person in each of those three groups have the highest percentage of weight loss of the at-home contestants, those three who will step on the scale for one last time to determine the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. She provides some glimpses into season 13 which she mentions has some Biggest Loser firsts and new twists. She then introduces the three finalists - Antone, John and Ramon - who too will step on the scale for the final time to see who is the winner of the $250,000 and the title of the Biggest Loser Season 12.
- After David is eliminated at the latest weigh-in, Alison tells the remaining contestants that the teams are being disbanded and they are now playing as individuals. It's Valentine's week, and their temptation challenge is something they may face on Valentine's: cupcakes and other such baked goods. Without being able to see what the others are doing, the person who consumes the most calories in ten minutes wins a two pound advantage at this week's weigh-in, with the winner also giving a two pound advantage to another contestant. Jillian in particular chastises those who consumed any food for "playing the game". The week's reward challenge is a multi-round race, with the losing contestant in each round eliminated until one contestant remains standing. The winner receives a one-day visit from a loved one at the ranch. The outcome of the challenge takes an unexpected turn. At the workouts, the trainers have breakthroughs with some of the contestants. At the post weigh-in vote, the eliminated contestant voices displeasure not at being eliminated, but at how the vote went down. Meanwhile, the trainers encourage their child obesity ambassador to partake in an activity they've always wanted to do. In addition, Biingo waits to hear whether his cast can be removed.
- After Anna is voted off the ranch at the latest weigh-in, the trainers are dismayed that it was collectively the worst weigh-in in the show's history with three of the contestants gaining weight. The remaining ten contestants learn that for the next week they will no longer be in two teams, but rather five teams of two, each pair who will weigh-in together. Two teams will fall below the yellow line, with one team being voted off the ranch. One of those ten will make the decision as to the pairings based on a temptation challenge where on a set menu, each contestant will secretly order an appetizer, a main course and a dessert apiece, with the person consuming the most calories winning the challenge. For the food to count toward the calorie count, the entire plate of food must be consumed. When the appetizers arrive, it becomes obvious who is playing the game. What may be more troubling is the one person not playing the game that decides to eat a decadent dessert just for the want of it. The winner of the challenge has an obvious game plan, which ends up creating two factions on the ranch. Because sugar plays such a big part in obesity, the contestants compete in a reward challenge to build a sugar cube tower five feet tall, transporting the sugar cubes from a pile to the construction site one cube at a time. The result of the temptation challenge brings out many emotions both amongst the contestants and the trainers. Bob and Jillian feel they have to address issues specifically with Aaron, Ada and Lisa. The trainers also focus much of the training regimen based on the pairings. The weigh-in continues to bring out those emotions, with Bob and Jillian contributing to the free for all argument. The vote is equally as emotional, especially between one of the contestants voted off and one of the people who voted for that team. In a post episode live segment, Bob visits the eliminated contestants at one of their homes to see how they are doing months after that emotional elimination.
- The mystery trainers find out the weigh-in results from Bob and Jillian's teams and discover their teams are doing better.
- Jessica being voted off the ranch after the latest weigh-in causes some hard feelings by Ramon, especially against his blue team mates Joe and Sunny, both who voted for Jessica. This animosity is just the most blatant manifestation that the old team alliances are still stronger than the current team alliances. The fate of the contestants is in the hands of the trainers more this week as each trainer must pick only one person on their team for this week's weigh-in. Some contestants relish the opportunity to be chosen to have symbolically the confidence of their trainer, while others fear the responsibility. Beyond the week's training, the trainers also have to factor in history, especially in that most of the biggest losers of the season had huge weight loss last week which may not bode well for a huge weight loss this week. The week's team challenge is a cooking one, where the winning team will have its meal featured in the latest Biggest Loser cookbook, has a one-on-one session with season 11 winner Olivia, and gain a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. Dr. Huizenga brings in a medical colleague who speaks about the issue of brain chemistry and eating. At the weigh-in, the trainers begin to second guess their choice as their other team members get on the scale.
- Ruben, the most recently eliminated contestant, is shown in his post-ranch life. The remaining contestants meet at a diner, where Alison holds a pop quiz on lifestyle and obesity. The quiz topic and the locale are appropriate as the team that loses the quiz will return to work for the week - something that most of the contestants are dreading as "no time" has always been an excuse for not having a healthy lifestyle - not at their regular jobs, but rather at this diner, where bad food temptations will be immense. The losing team decides to bring some of their work home with them to tempt the other teams. Bob feels that Hap's low weight loss numbers are attributed to his eating habits and thus he decides to control that part of Hap's on-ranch life. Bob also feels that Bobby is not yet in a good head space where he is confident about his actions or therefore his future. Via video, Dolvett wants to train Jennifer's nine year old daughter, Taylor, who has picked up many of her mother's bad lifestyle habits which has led to her being seventy pounds overweight. And Alison highlights the Partnership America program for the nation to drink more water, which is supported by the three child ambassadors, and First Lady Michelle Obama.
- The stakes are higher than ever when the five final players compete in a "Biggest Loser" first - a sprint triathlon, requiring them to swim 1/2 a mile, bike 12 miles and run three miles. The triathlon winner will secure a coveted spot as a finalist, as well as a brand new Ford Fusion. Then it's an emotional trip down memory lane as the contestants watch footage of their journeys with their trainers, and see firsthand how far they've come since arriving on the ranch. Later, it's time for the last weigh-in before the finale, where two players will fall below the red line and go home, and two more will become finalists, joining the triathlon winner to compete for $250,000 and the title of "The Biggest Loser" at the season 15 finale.
- The final four contestants leave the ranch and transition back to life at home, showing off their new slimmer selves to family and friends and facing the temptations and challenges of everyday life. Six weeks later, they return to the ranch to run 26.2 miles, cheered on by loved ones. The winner breaks a "Biggest Loser" marathon record. Then a final weigh-in determines who the two definite finalists will be - and which two contestants fall below the dreaded yellow line, leaving America to vote which one will be the third finalist to compete for the grand prize of $250,000.
- With Nikki voluntarily leaving the ranch and the competition, and TC falling below the red line at the first weigh-in meaning that he was automatically eliminated, the white team, led by Jillian, is already down two members after week one. Their problems continue as Jillian seems unable to get through to her team members. All thirteen remaining contestants learn that at this week's weigh-in, there once again will only be a red line, meaning that the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss on the losing team is automatically eliminated. For their first workout of the week, they will be doing it in an outdoor workout space specially designed by their trainer. Dr. Huizenga provides a medical assessment of all contestants, and the news he provides is generally not good. The three childhood obesity ambassadors return to the ranch to have their own physical assessment done with their trainer. They join their adult counterparts for the week's team challenge, which is modeled on football as their guest is San Diego Charger Antonio Gates. Although it is high on their minds during the entire week, the thirteen contestants are focused on the dreaded week two minimal weight loss curse most specifically during the last chance workout and at the weigh-in.
- In Face Your Fears week, Francelina, the latest eliminated contestant, is not the only person leaving the ranch. The loser of the latest pop challenge, success in which is dependent upon help from the other contestants, will also face one of his/her biggest fears: leaving the ranch, if only for the week, to live life without the gym, the trainers and a properly stocked kitchen. That pop challenge loser will also bring with him/her one other contestant of his/her choice. Conversely, the pop challenge winner receives a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. This challenge has an unexpected outcome. For the week, the trainers challenge not only the remaining contestants but also the child obesity ambassadors to face a major fear in their life of the trainers' choice. Those choices mainly relate to their weight loss journey, but may deal more specifically with helping them with their emotional well being. The reward challenge makes many of the contestants face a major fear, namely of heights. But losing the challenge may be the biggest fear as the winner receives what is considered the ultimate reward - immunity at the next weigh-in - important for some who feel the pressure due to large weight loss the previous week.
- The 10 remaining contestants reach a milestone this week, as the competition goes from teams to singles. Wearing their new individual color shirts, the players meet host Alison Sweeney for a night-time "ring of fire" endurance challenge that involves holding a percentage of their individual weights. Alison also shares exciting news about an upcoming event that will be a "Biggest Loser" first for contestants, and sobering news that this week's weigh-in will end with a double elimination. Now that the teams have been disbanded, trainers Bob, Jillian and Dolvett are eager to switch it up and work out with new contestants this week. One player struggles with self-sabotaging negative thoughts, and two contestants make it to the coveted "One-derland" at weigh-in and say goodbye to weighing over 200 pounds. Then it's time for the dreaded red line, which will determine which two players will be going home.
- Bob vents his frustration out on those who voted Aaron and Jesse off campus after the latest weigh-in. The eight remaining contestants, now competing as individuals, are provided support in the form of video messages from home. One contestant, however, receives no such traditional support, but does receive one from a non-traditional source. Both Bob and Jillian focus much of their attention on Elizabeth, who they feel has not yet been able to stand on her own two feet at the ranch. Jillian gets her to complete a yet as of unfinished task. But they want all the contestants to step their training up a notch as their on-ranch journey gets closer to ending. The reward challenge for the week is a one foot balancing one while perched precariously over a pool of water, the winner to receive a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. The one pound becomes all the more important when the contestants learn what will be happening the following week if they remain on the ranch.
- The "unknown trainers" are finally revealed, and both will share their personal stories that led them to "The Biggest Loser." Their contestants, "the unknowns," confront one player they feel isn't working hard enough, and later, "the unknowns" and the ranch contestants square off for a pop challenge. The winning player from each group will get a delicious healthy dinner prepared by Chef Curtis Stone, and compete for a coveted 2 lb. advantage at this week's weigh-in. Later, Dr. Huizenga gives "the unknowns" startling news about their health, and one player is surprised to learn they have the highest percentage of body fat in the group. Meanwhile, trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels single out a few of their contestants to find out what really led to their weight gain, and then the ranch contestants meet host Alison Sweeney for a water-carrying challenge that will give the winner the sole vote at this week's elimination. Later, a surprising weigh-in -- which results in shocking numbers for one team -- disappoints the trainers in a big way, leading to the elimination of one player they feel isn't ready to go home.
- There is much discussion among all on the ranch after the last weigh-in when both Dan and Don gained nine pounds, and Dan was eventually voted off the ranch. Although Don denies that he and Dan threw the weigh-in as a sign of "giving up", Bob and Jillian are certain he and Dan did. The on-ranch contestants participate in the ultimate temptation challenge in facing the specific foods that are their individual weaknesses. The winner of the challenge gets to choose the team that will train with Cara and Brett for the week off the ranch. That team finds the off campus training has some good and not so good elements. That team returns to the ranch for a reward challenge, which combines knowledge of their weakness foods once again and a test of strength. The rewards end up having an emotional effect on the winners.
- After the latest weigh-in, when Jay was voted off the ranch, Alison brings together all the contestants to tell them that for the next weigh-in, they will still weigh-in as teams where one person will be voted off, but that they will also weigh-in as individuals with the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss automatically leaving the ranch. That means that two people are leaving after the next weigh-in. As such, the trainers work the contestants especially hard this week. The black team ultimately discuss strategy to protect who they consider their most vulnerable team member, Arthur. The discussion ends up being a heated one. On the flip side, Brett and Cara focus their attention on Kaylee, the lightest person on the red team who is closest to reaching her goal weight and thus susceptible to lower percentage of weight loss. Brett and Cara take the red team off campus to work at a mixed-martial arts studio, where Rulon meets an old friend. The team challenge is a volleyball styled one, where the teams are hampered both by the size of the balls and the gear the team members must wear on their hands. The winning team gets a three pound advantage as a team at the weigh-in. At the weigh-in, obvious strategy comes into play which brings about tears from some, relief from others and cheers all around.
- Each team has to pick a team captain, who will have many responsibilities during the week, and only two players from each team can work out with a trainer. The teams first square off in a pop challenge involving 13 tiered cakes, and later, the contestants meet host Alison Sweeney at a mud pit where they have to make their way across the pit while balancing on a step - without touching the mud. Several contestants have heart-to-heart talks with their trainers, opening up more about the individual personal struggles they had before coming to the ranch, and later, another player is sent home following a weigh-in with some surprising weight loss numbers.
- Host Alison Sweeney tells the remaining 12 contestants that they will all be on one team this week - the blue team - and they will all have immunity if they beat their weight loss from the previous week. But first, there's a pop challenge in which they have to prepare delicious, healthy, low-calorie meals in under 30 minutes. Chefs Curtis Stone and Lorena Garcia will decide who prepares the best dish, with the winner getting a coveted prize. Later the blue team meets at a rock quarry where they'll have to uncover a buried rope attached to signs with trivia questions. If they answer the questions incorrectly, they will be led in the wrong direction, something all the players want to avoid since the winners get a huge advantage at this week's weigh-in. Later, Dr. Huizenga drops by with impressive medical updates, including the news that one contestant has already reached their goal weight. Then it's time for the weigh-in, when players found out if they all get to stay at the ranch another week - or if they'll be sending one contestant home.
- After the latest weigh-in when Justin was voted off the ranch, Kaylee feels like she needs to clear the air about her own premeditated and failed attempt to be voted off. That emotional encounter is followed by another when the contestants revisit the day they found out that they were going to be on the show. Alison also makes them think about "team 12", the team that didn't quite make it on the show, or does this team make it on? The pop challenge has the contestants balancing balls on boards. The winning team of the pop challenge receives a one minute advantage at the team challenge, with the losing team leaving the ranch for the week with a $1,000 budget to be spent on predetermined "menu" items. That losing team has an emotional discussion with their trainer about their choices before leaving the ranch. Bob takes the blue team to the Ánimo Jefferson Charter Middle School to work out with the students there. The team challenge is an old fashioned Easter egg hunt with 5,000 eggs in total, with one golden egg as a special prize for the contestant who finds it. The winning team receives an invitation to the world premier of Hop (2011), with each team completing the challenge going to a private advanced screening. The golden egg special prize weighs heavily on the minds of all the contestants at the weigh-in. A few contestants are called out on behavior during the weigh-in.
- Michael's elimination at the latest weigh-in has put some people on the defensive in how the vote went down. The remaining contestants learn that they will will have to work together as one cohesive unit this week as Alison tells them that if they as a collective can lose 70 pounds this week, they will all be provided immunity from elimination at that weigh-in. They are provided two opportunities to lower that 70 pound amount. The first, which potentially could drop that number by up to 10 pounds, is through a pop challenge on nutrition knowledge and surpassing physical challenges already taken, however it will be completed by the child ambassadors, which in some respects frightens the contestants if only because the fate of those 10 pounds is out of their hands. The second, which could be another 10 pound deduction, is through this week's team reward challenge, where the contestants are required to dig through five to ten large sand piles to find clues to complete the entire challenge within 30 minutes. Despite needing to work together as a team, there are many fractures at the ranch above and beyond the earlier fracture resulting from the latest vote. These fractures not only occur between contestants, but also between contestants and trainers. Alison provides them all an opportunity to mend some of these rifts through a team building exercise, where, in pairs, the people involved need to rely on and trust the other member of that pair to achieve a common goal. And through all the trials and tribulations of the week, the early stage of love emerges.
- Bob using his only trainer save on Matt at the last weigh-in puts all the teams on equal footing with no trainer saves left. Bob's decision weighs heavily on Matt, who has a chat with Tanya, who was also a previous "savee". Being Thanksgiving week, the reward challenge hits home for the contestants more ways than one. The challenge has the teams filling trucks with boxes of Thanksgiving food that will be delivered to the victims of the Moore, Oklahoma tornado. The team who fills their truck first of forty boxes average per team member will have family/friends flown in to spend Thanksgiving on the ranch. The trainer of the winning team sees this win as a double edge sword, where visiting family can act as a distraction. One other person on the ranch nonetheless keeps to his own Thanksgiving ritual. Bobby speaks to Bob about a secret he has been keeping from his family, that secret to which Bob can give an insider's perspective. At the weigh-in, one person definitely will be sent home since there are no trainer saves left. After the results of the emotional weigh-in, Alison drops what sounds like a bombshell of news on the remaining contestants.
- There are fourteen contestants remaining after Debbie is voted off the campus after the first weigh-in. The fourteen return somewhat to the real world in that for the next week, they will only have access as a team to the gym and their trainer at one of three two-hour prescribed times per day: early morning, midday and late night. The winning team of a temptation challenge - eating the most donuts - will assign the gym times for all three teams. They find that training at a specific time not only affects them, but also their trainers, who have different energies at different times of the day. Beyond individual issues of training, one team faces an internal back stabbing issue. Each contestant with his/her trainer meets with Dr. Huizenga, who gives them the bad news about their health. One of the youngest, who has previously resisted visiting a doctor if only in the want not to know, has one of the worst results. The teams compete in a reward challenge - maneuvering a ball through a maze using only their body weight - with the winning team receiving a two pound advantage at the weigh-in, and the second place team receiving a one pound advantage. At each of the challenges and the weigh-in, the black team is the one which the others are gunning for as the black team has thus far established itself as the leading team.
- Mike's elimination from the ranch following the latest weigh-in hits half-brother Joe especially hard, he who makes an important decision which is a Biggest Loser first. Joe's decision doesn't sit well with his teammates or his trainer, Bob. Alison issues the first temptation challenge of the season - a Chinese food buffet - with the winning person gaining a two pound advantage at the next weigh-in which he or she can allocate as decided just before the weigh-in, and the ability to allocate a one-on-one match-up at the weigh-in. One contestant from each team will weigh off against one person on the opposing team, with one point awarded for each winning face-off. The winning team will be the one with the most points, and not necessarily with the greatest percentage of weight loss as a team. If the teams are tied at the end of the temptation challenge, each contestant will face-off against their loved one on the opposing team. Both Bob and Dolvett use the face-off mentality to their advantage in firing up their team members, who they face off in mini-challenges in the workouts. One of those mini-challenges is especially competitive, which leads to a rematch during the last chance workout. The reward challenge is a water relay, the water used to melt a block of ice which contains an enclosed package which names the reward for the winning team. Many on the winning team end up giving their reward away to another who they feel would benefit from it more. The weigh-in ends up being as competitive as the mini-challenges during the workouts. And Bob travels to Chicago to assist Adrian and Daphne with a workout.
- The elimination of Lisa at the latest weigh-in marks the half way point for this season's competition. In this week's theme of leading by example, the remaining contestants learn that only one person's weight from each team will count at this week's weigh-in, with those three literally chosen by a roll of the dice immediately preceding the weigh-in. This news leads to a "clearing of the air" between some of the trainers and their team members who are scared to be one of the chosen. The trainers want their team members to embrace being chosen. The contestants soon learn that one person will have to lead their team sooner as only one person per team competes in this week's team challenge, the winning team to receive letters from home. That challenge entails a combination of balance, speed, strength, agility and a knowledge of food calories. Meanwhile, the trainers challenge their respective childhood obesity ambassadors to lead a process that shows what they've learned. And the trainers call in some friends for help both in workouts and the tasks for the kids.
- Ruben's elimination at the latest weigh-in, he who was seen as the heart of the ranch, brings the reality of the competition side of the equation into focus for the remaining contestants, and not just his red team mates. Dolvett brings his team to work out with the Beat Cancer Bootcamp. This experience motivates the team, but has the greatest emotional impact on David, whose first wife died from cancer. Jillian takes her team's workout into the pool, where she helps Craig overcome his fear of water, that fear the result of not knowing how to swim. Bob knows that the target is squarely on the blue team's back, as the only team that still has its full complement of members and that still has its trainer save. The week's reward challenge goes into the kitchen, where Sam Kass, White House Senior Policy of Nutrition, and last year's child ambassadors judge a food competition, the winning team, who has prepared the combination healthiest and tastiest dish, will win a year's supply of produce. This challenge hits home especially for Jennifer, whose lifestyle has led both to her and her daughter being overweight. Just before the weigh-in, Alison drops a bombshell of news which affects all the competitors regarding this weigh-in.
- Host Alison Sweeney surprises the contestants with the news that this week they'll be competing as singles, rather than as teams. In their first challenge as singles, the players must cross an obstacle course, including a mud pit, and complete a memory puzzle at the end for the greatest prize of all at the ranch - immunity. Then trainers surprise the final seven contestants with heartwarming videos of support from players, coaches and family members back home, fueling their fire to keep working hard at the ranch. Later, after a fiercely competitive week at Comeback Canyon, trainer Bob Harper sends one player home for good, while the ranch weigh-in results in a tearful elimination as the contestants vote to send another player packing.
- After four long weeks, the "unknowns" move to the ranch and are reunited with the other contestants, who get to meet the new trainers for the first time. Host Alison Sweeney explains that the ranch contestants will be safe this week if they collectively lose more than 48 pounds, but for the "unknowns," they will be facing their first elimination all season. And both teams only get to see their trainers once this week. The "unknowns" experience some surprises while settling into their new home, and a secret is revealed about how one contestant has lost so much weight. A challenge involving weights shows which team stacks up to be the best, and later, everyone weighs in and finds out whether one or two players will be going home.
- Following Nancy's elimination from the ranch after the latest weigh-in, the animosity on the red team between Adrian and the rest of the team members continues. Later in the week, Dolvett tries to smooth the waters, but he too realizes that Adrian's issues are that he talks often but very rarely listens. The week's team challenge is one that the trainers do not like, as they are their respective team's target in a dunk tank. Each team, via pulleys, collectively are holding up 240 pounds. The team that drops the weight first loses, the dropping of the weight which triggers a mechanism that will dunk their trainer into the cold pool of water below. The losing team will not have access to their trainer from that point onward for the week until the last chance workout. What the contestants don't know is that that trainer will be watching their week's workouts via video, which he will use as an assessment on what needs to be accomplished in that last chance workout. What that trainer eventually sees is one contestant who steps up as leader, and another who is constantly complaining rather than focusing on the workout. The winning team's trainer decides for one workout to go for a grueling hike through a local park, where one team member - consistently last in whatever task is being asked for - voices her concern at being perceived as the weak link. The hike is followed by their first restaurant meal out, where nutritionist Rachel guides them through the hidden pitfalls of ordering off a menu. The post weigh-in vote ends up being a finger pointing session where the eliminated contestant makes one special request of his/her former teammates before leaving.
- Hap and Matt, the two contestants who fell below the red line at the last weigh-in, learn that one of them may not be going home this week. They and all the other eliminated contestants to date participate in another weigh-in, the one with the largest percentage of weight loss since day one of being on the ranch who will return to ranch as a contestant. The returning contestant and the others remaining on the ranch also learn that this week's weigh-in will be the first of the season with a yellow line, the two that fall under it who will be up for elimination, the person eliminated based on a vote of the others. A retrospective of each of the remaining contestants is shown, most specifically how their weight loss to date will affect their life whenever they go home. The week's reward challenge consists of an uphill race where the winning contestant will be the first to carry ten kettle bells up the hill, with one of the many buried kettle bells - the gold one - worth five. The winner receives a $25,000 home gym system, with the last place contestant receiving a one pound disadvantage at the next weigh-in. Season 8 contestant Abby Rike returns to the ranch to provide words of motivation. And Dolvett takes the contestants to Irwindale Speedway to work out with NASCAR driver Carl Edwards. Following the weigh-in, Alison tells the remaining contestants what is in store for them next week.
- At the last sets of weigh-ins, Jackie is eliminated at Comeback Canyon sending her home, while Rondalee joins Damien at Comeback Canyon. Regardless of the competitive aspect of the weigh-in at Comeback Canyon, Bob feels he has to help Rondalee achieve a milestone this week in her weight loss journey. At the ranch, the contestants learn that if they lose at least a combined 50 pounds at this week's weigh-in, no one will be sent home this week. Associated, they also learn that they can reduce that 50 pounds down to a potential 40 pounds if they as a collective win the week's challenge which will require them all to work as a team. That challenge, with a one hour time limit, is to knock placards representing 50 to 40 pounds - the 40 pound placard which is the highest at fourteen feet above ground - by moving piles of sand upon which team members can stand to reach the placards. On an individual basis, the trainers focus on Rob and Damien in dealing with emotional issues, Damien's which relates to a sad milestone regarding his personal life. The three ranch trainers also believe they need to do something special to get all the remaining contestants in a good head space, by using a metaphor to represent transformation in their lives. The weigh-in ends up being an emotional one, as it soon becomes clear if they will meet their combined weight loss goal for the week.
- Bob announces who between Colby and Jacky will be joining previously announced Roberto and Steven as the third finalist, and that this season's theme - real world temptations - will factor into what happens during this finale. He introduces the two trainers - Jen and Dolvett - who provide their thoughts about the season and the contestants. The thirteen at-home contestants are introduced and Bob describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to determine the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. The trainers interview audience members who have gone through their own at-home weight loss journey. A video montage is shown providing some behind the scenes moments of Bob in his first season as host. Bob then introduces the three finalists, who are provided one last temptation which, if they decide to take it, could alter the outcome of the show. The three finalists then weigh-in for the final time to see who is the winner of the $250,000 and the title of the Biggest Loser Season 17.
- With Lisa voted off the ranch after the latest weigh-in, six contestants remain on the ranch in the running for this season's biggest loser, those six which include the alliance of Brendan, Frado and Patrick who see their collective chances of making final four good to excellent. Regardless, all will go home after this week, but two will be going home as non-finalists as Alison informs them there will be a red line and a yellow line at this week's weigh-in. This week's pop challenge, introduced by Alison and American Olympic gold medal gymnast Nastia Liukin, is a progressive elimination one using five different pieces of exercise equipment, the winner to receive $10,000. In preparation to go home, Dr. Huizenga gives Frado a medical re-examination, he who was dealing with type II diabetes upon arrival at the ranch 3 months earlier. And Bob and Jillian speak to all the contestants collectively to gage their mindset. Ada seems to have the most issues in returning to a non-supportive home environment. The week's reward challenge is the traditional shedding the weight challenge, the winner's reward being a one pound advantage at the week's weigh-in and a $25,000 home gym. The emotional challenge of remembering what it was like to shed the weight may be as draining as the physical challenge. The results of the weigh-in and the vote between the two contestants below the yellow line end up being highly emotional affairs especially for the two eliminated.
- The season's final five contestants - Buddy, Conda, Jeremy, Kim and Mark - throw the show's producers for a loop when they collectively conduct a mutiny. Having learned before the official announcement that one of the eliminated contestants will have a chance to make it automatically into the finale which they all believe unfair to them who have worked to earn their place, they announce to the producers that they will be quitting the show. Alison and the producers take the opportunity to talk to the five individually both to lay out what they agreed to in their contract and also try to convince them to stay. Some do change their minds, which pleases the trainers, who were left out of the discussions, especially as the five felt that the decisions had nothing to do with the trainers. Alison tells those remaining that this week's weigh-in will have a red line, the contestant who falls below it who will be automatically eliminated, with the remaining contestants making it into the finale. She also tells them that the contestant with the highest percentage of weight loss for the week will win a 2013 Ford Escape SUV. These incentives bring out the competitive edge in the contestants. After the weigh-in, the eliminated contestant does learn that he/she still has that chance to make it to the finale as do the other eliminated contestants.
- The contestants learn that Cate, who was eliminated after the latest weigh-in, is not the only person leaving the ranch this week. Bob, Dolvett and Jillian will all leave for the week to visit Biingo, Lindsay and Sunny respectively, they who don't know their trainer is coming. The trainers will return to the ranch in time for the last chance workout. The three trainers want to inspire their child ambassador by choosing an activity that they will deem fun, to check to see if they are following the nutrition rules told to them by Dr. Joanna, and to uncover the emotional source of their weight gain, specifically to see what role their families play in that and how they can fix those problems. Back at the ranch, the contestants were provided training instruction for the week by their trainer before they left. The dynamics on each of the three teams is vastly different from the other two in how they cope without their trainer. Their reward challenge is a 5km run - about 4km longer than any one has run in any given point in time - each team who will split prize money, that specific amount based on their average team time for the run. At the last chance workout, one trainer has problems motivating a team member, while another trainer clashes with a contestant from another team during a multi-team workout. They will learn if these problems manifest themselves at the weigh-in, where one person from the losing team will be eliminated, the only person from that team immune being the one with the highest percentage of weight loss.
- 2004– 1h 25mTV-PG5.3 (10)TV EpisodeTeam Dolvett is the first to lose a player as Britney is voted off the ranch after the first competitive weigh-in. This week is all about food temptations. A team reward challenge tests the contestants' knowledge about bad foods, with the losing team members not only having to eat the bad foods - the trainers who are able to fall on the team sword once during the challenge - but the winning team able to choose one person on either team to sit out this week's weigh-in. The contestants collectively meet with Dr. Huizenga, who illustrates graphically the consequences of their bad food choices not only on their weight but on their lives holistically. At the weigh-in, the results lead to the losing team not only losing a player, but them needing to have a heart-to-heart with their trainer about issues negatively pervading their mentality. In the second week for this episode, the teams embark on another food related reward challenge. They compete in a race to pull three food trucks, with the losing team eating the unhealthy food from the trucks, and the winning team getting a crash healthy cooking course from celebrity chef Lorena Garcia. For the first time in Biggest Loser history, a last chance workout is used as a reward challenge, as four members from each team compete in a 2000m rowing relay, with the winning team getting a two pound advantage at the next weigh-in. That weigh-in will in part see if the heart-to-heart of the troubled team has had any effect.
- The twenty-two contestants - who arrive as teams of two - are introduced, three of whom are the heaviest three contestants ever on the show, and one team which weighs collectively close to half a ton. Their initial weigh-in is held in each's hometown in front of family, friends and other townsfolk. When they arrive on campus and enter the gym for the first time, the contestants are surprised to see it empty, except for twenty-two bicycles. Each team is to cycle collectively 26.2 miles, the equivalent of a marathon. The team to finish the distance first gets immunity from elimination, the bottom two teams who will be asked to leave the campus immediately. However Bob and Jillian are training together, and use the first workout to assess the fitness and personality of each of the contestants. At the first weigh-in, the contestants are weighed as a team. The team with the lowest percentage of weight loss falls below the yellow line. The remaining contestants vote which of the two on that team will be eliminated. At the weigh-in, two contestants set new weight loss records for the show.
- There are five contestants remaining after the elimination of Alex, those five who are going into makeover week. Fashion stylist Tim Gunn and hair stylist Ken Paves are not only making over the five, but also the three childhood obesity ambassadors. All eight get to share the experience with their family and friends at home, where they will spend the next two weeks. There, they are given two challenges. The first is to pay it forward by leading a group fitness session. The second is a personal mission to lose at least five percent of their body weight within that two weeks, which would guarantee immunity at that next weigh-in, with each person not meeting that goal potentially being voted off the ranch. Meeting that goal will not be easy as they are faced with temptation after temptation as this visit home is their first glimpse of real life, and all the pressures that goes along with it.
- In this must-see, exciting live finale, the 15 contestants from this season return for a special reunion and a chance to weigh in one last time - and show America how much weight they've all lost since beginning their weight-loss journeys. Those who have been eliminated will compete for the $100,000 "at home" prize. Then it's the moment viewers have been waiting for, when one of the three finalists will be named this season's "Biggest Loser" and win the coveted grand prize of $250,000.
- Alison introduces the fourteen eliminated contestants and the two trainers. Those fourteen, one by one, step on the scale to see how much weight they have lost since day one, the person with the highest percentage of weight loss being the winner of the $100,000 at home challenge. Alison then introduces the final three contestants, Conda, Jeremy and Kim. With all the contestants now in the theater, Alison announces the winner of the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award, who will get a gym built in their home town. The final three then weigh-in one last time in reverse order of their weight loss on the ranch. The person with the highest percentage of weight loss wins the $250,000 grand prize and the title of the Biggest Loser season 13.
- With Jessica voted off the ranch after the latest weigh-in, the remaining seven contestants learn they are going into makeover week, which excites them not only because of the makeovers themselves, but because the week represents a milestone in the game. They also learn that their made over selves will be featured in People Magazine, and they will be walking the catwalk in support of Ford Warriors in Pink in fight of breast cancer. Their most exciting moment may be revealing their new selves to their family and friends. Ada continues to deal with the issue of lack of support from her family. Back to the game, the contestants' reward challenge for the week is to ascend the 300 foot long Angel's Flight funicular either by the train, which is worth one point, or by foot, which is worth five points. The first contestant to 100 points wins the challenge and a new car. The challenge has a surprise ending, and one contestant feels let down by not completing the race. Bob offers that contestant a symbolic completion of the challenge during the last chance workout. Leading into the weigh-in, the Brendan/Frado/Patrick alliance feels confident about their chances of making it to the finals.
- Season 10 kicks off with a new theme of "paying it forward" and 21 contestant hopefuls vying for a spot at the ranch. With obesity now one of the leading causes of preventable death in the United States, "The Biggest Loser" wanted to broaden their reach this season, pay it forward and motivate communities - not just contestants - to get healthy. Trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels and host Alison Sweeney travel to seven cities in the premiere episode, with each trainer leading community fitness challenges like a one-mile race or a 500 step-up competition. In each of the seven cities - Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland, Atlanta, Phoenix, Oklahoma City and Boston - there will also be three contestant hopefuls competing in the challenges. The two candidates who complete their fitness challenge first win a spot at the ranch. Those who don't make it will get a chance to vie for a spot on the show in a later episode.
