Evan and Fiona's marriage is one big, noisy argument punctuated by even noisier make-up sex. And David and Georgy have just moved in next door to Rob and Cathy - he's in his 60s, she's in her 30s - firmly putting the (younger) cat among the (not very welcoming) pigeons. When things get tricky in these relationships the characters are able to stop the action, explain themselves directly to the audience and start it all up again.

He opens a wine bar in the crypt but Francis is quick to shut it down. Fortunately he finds something in the monastery to sell on 'Antiques Road Show', thus gaining the money for another bell.
- Single, homeless and jobless Rob leaves London to move back in with parents Cath and Gal, only to find the 'home' is a static caravan on a site in Margate and he has to bed down in the living room. Unimpressed by local entertainer Hirsty he plans to return to the city but is prevented when Cath puts all his clothes in the wash. Feelings for barmaid Jen and his parents' impressive performance at karaoke persuade him that life on the site might not be so bad - but then he discovers Gal's secret store of highly dangerous Chinese gas canisters.

His chance for a comeback occurs when he is invited by best friend Jez to his wedding to the imperious Selina, where a TV executive to whom Jez will effect an introduction, is the best man. Selina does not like Bill, especially when he eats pastries destined for a charity function and worse is to follow when Bill and his wife Faith lose the wedding present and replace it with cheap glasses bought at a garage. To save the day Bill swaps labels with an expensively packaged gift, only to find that he has somehow doomed himself to becoming a bone marrow donor.
