- It's Josh's birthday, so Kate and Owen decide to organise him a fancy dress party. Josh is not keen, but he relents in the hope that it might give him a chance with Lucy, who lives upstairs and is so nice she would make Mother Teresa look like Katie Hopkins. Meanwhile, Kate meets her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend Cath, who is obsessed with YouTube videos and will not be deterred by either lack of interest or buffering. And, inevitably, Geoff pops by the party wearing a suitably impractical costume.
- Josh, Owen and Kate head off to the local curry house - where they bump into some acquaintances from university. As the night wears on intrigue and rumour abound and the trio discover some secrets are best not revealed.
- Geoff gives Josh and Owen tickets to watch the darts but, given that they have to get drunk first, they attend Owen's friend Phil's wedding for the free booze. Unfortunately for Josh they are the only guests, Owen bags off with the bridesmaid and after listening to the boring groom Josh is arrested as the wedding is one of convenience to get the bride a British passport. Back at the flat Kate fares no better as there is a power cut and she ends up entertaining Geoff.
- At a university reunion Josh bumps into Abby, who has spent the last 10 years convinced that he is infatuated with her. Kate meets a former lecturer, Phillipa, who offers her the chance to give her photography career a boost.
- Josh is overjoyed to meet up with desirable school-mate Lily, who asks him on a date but less so when her possessive father throws him out - twice. Kate's mother Judith comes to spend her birthday at the flat and has Geoff and Owen fighting over her - though Kate is surprised when she sees what Judith and Owen are doing.
- The landlord asks everyone to vacate as he's re-let their rooms to models for "Fashion Week". They can stay at his cottage in Clacton. They say no, but Kate and Owen then agree to vacate with a payment. Josh decides to stay.. at first.
- After being dumped by his girlfriend Josh goes on a double date with Owen and two voracious cougars, Valerie and Karen. Meanwhile, an e-mail mix-up leads to Kate breaking Geoff's heart.
- The old lady upstairs blackmails Josh. Owen falls for an American woman who is labouring under the impression he is from Cork. Geoff gets Kate to help him nurse a sick bird.
- Owen is excited when his hard-drinking friend Teabag comes to stay but Josh does not share his enthusiasm and prefers to comfort jilted friend Mike, which only leads to more complications. Having fallen out with Mike Josh agrees to a night out with Teabag but comes to regret it in more ways than one. Kate also regrets asking Geoff to redecorate her room when she brings a boyfriend home.
- Josh's latest stand-up gig does not go well, so he is surprised to be asked out on a date by an attractive audience member. Geoff is facing financial difficulties and introduces Kate to the dizzy world of building management politics.
- Josh's agent lands him a gig supporting a big act on tour, but Josh struggles to play nicely with his rival. Owen begins dating a former X-Factor star but worries about 'The Curse of Strictly'.
- Josh is thrilled to get an invite to one of the legendary parties held by old university friend Phoebe. Unfortunately it is a pool party and Josh cannot swim. In fact there is another reason that he hates the water and this becomes painfully obvious - literally. At the same time Kate takes kissing lessons from Owen after a boyfriend criticizes her technique.
- Plymouth Argyle have reached the Football League Trophy Area Final - Southern Section and Josh is desperate to watch the game on TV, but Owen's cousin is hogging it. Kate helps her mum dump her new boyfriend.
- Josh discovers Geoff is a master of the FIFA football computer game so gets him to manage his team for the annual match against his frenemy from Uni. Kate dates a dad. Owen is landed with a new colleague.
- Josh wants a quiet night in but is interrupted, first by Kate returning from another date gone wrong. Then Owen returns from a medical trial and Geoff tries to steal all of the furniture.
- Josh's new girlfriend, Millie, takes him on a date. He gets stuck on a zip-wire and it goes viral. Kate and her mum immerse themselves in the theatre and Owen finally takes his driving test.
- Kate's friend makes her a godmother but exploits her for free childcare. Owen tries to teach Josh how to use the gym properly but Josh makes a nemesis in spin class and won't shower in the altogether.
- The time has arrived for Josh's bi-annual drink with Pete, the most boring friend in Britain. Unfortunately, the drink leads to a longer term commitment. Kate's friend Sophie comes to stay and is an incorrigible prankster.
