- Theo remains impaled in the bush and Ryder trapped in the coffin overnight. Justin mentions the phone call to Roo and they see the video, working out where the pair are. Ryder is retrieved from the coffin and rushed to hospital; his oxygen levels improve but he remains unconscious. Alf and Roo are furious with Theo. Martha explains to Roo that she doesn't want anything to happen to her because of the donation but Roo sees it as her giving up and refuses to have anything to do with her. Mia fills Tane, Nikau and Chloe in on Ari's confession and she and Tane briefly visit him to check he's sure. Felicity checks with Cash after hearing about the arrest from Tane. Mia returns home alone and admits Ari has been denied bail.
- Tane and Mia are trying to find a solution but Nikau thinks telling the truth is the best option. Chloe goes to the police station and briefly chats to Cash before Tane collects her. Tane insists no-one talks to anyone, banning Nikau from seeing Bella and distancing himself from Felicity. Justin shows Alf and Roo the video of Ryder's challenge, which includes him saying his farewells to them. Theo is with Ryder when he comes round but Alf orders him away. Ryder doesn't want Roo to leave him.
- Logan and Mackenzie discuss him deciding to stay living together after all. Nikau meets with Bella and tells her about Ari's arrest and that he can't see her for a while. She passes the news on to Dean and Ziggy. After a chat with Ziggy, Felicity tells Tane she understands. John and Irene find out what's going on when they see the newspaper the next morning. Logan gets a mysterious text and meets a woman, Neve Spicer.
- Bella, Ziggy and Dean fill Mackenzie in on Ari's arrest. Alf is angry when John tells him about Theo stealing the Polaris. Chloe asks Irene if she can work at the Diner again. Bella finds her upset and tries to counsel her about Ari. Chloe blurts out that Ari didn't hurt anyone and Bella realises it was her. Logan talks with Neve, who deserted two years ago while escorting injured soldiers to Germany. Ziggy sees them kissing and Dean confronts him. He promises to tell Mackenzie but Neve interrupts their chat and Logan awkwardly introduces her as his ex.
- Dean attempts to quiz Nikau and Tane about what's going on. Mia returns with news of Ari's sentencing and reveals he's refusing to let her make a statement about Matthew. Chloe tells Nikau that Bella knows. Dean tells Mia he knows Ari is innocent and must have a good reason for confessing. Neve disappears when Dean tells her Mackenzie is Logan's girlfriend. Logan believes she has PTSD and says if she leaves. he'll alert the defence force. Mackenzie invites Neve to stay with them.
- Ziggy and Dean debate Mackenzie's reaction and are bewildered that she has invited Neve to stay. Mackenzie explains to Ziggy that she wants Neve where she can see her and is frustrated when Dean tries to talk Logan into getting rid of her, having to hire Felicity to keep an eye on Salt. Neve freaks out when Logan helps Nikau with an injured surfer, Pete, explaining it reminds her of having to operate on Logan when he was injured in an explosion. Mia announces a plan to have the whole family visit Ari. Nikau and Chloe are reluctant but agree. Tane hears Ari is signing his share of the gym over to him and meets Felicity for a hook up. Mia is left crying on her own.
- Cash and Jasmine arrange a date. Mia makes plans to marry Ari in prison. Tane initially isn't interested but agrees to support her. He continues to be cagey with Felicity despite them hooking up and brushes aside Cash's invitation to talk to him. Alf brings Martha home from hospital. Roo wants to move out, only staying because Ryder will be home soon. Alf blows up at Theo in the Diner, prompting Justin to turn up at the house and insist Ryder's equally to blame.
- Cash and Jasmine discuss Ari and Mia's situation. Roo convinces Alf to watch the videos of the challenges but it just leaves him more convinced that Ryder was coerced. Ryder returns from hospital and, after getting a serve from Alf, has a panic attack while walking with Roo, which Jasmine helps him through. Alf asks Cash to arrest Theo but he says there's no crime against stupidity. Ryder overhears Martha and Roo arguing and meets with Theo to discuss healing the rift.
- Bella interrupts Dean and Ziggy on the beach to complain about the situation at home. After she has briefly spent time with Ryder and set up to do TAFE work at Salt, they invite her to spend the evening with them and then move in. Dean learns Karen has disappeared. Ryder takes Theo to apologise to Alf but Alf orders him out. Alf refuses to accept the money from the challenge and Ryder has another panic attack. Roo tells him about the goodbye video, which he doesn't remember recording, and he and Theo delete the channel. Alf asks John for the report on the Polaris theft. Murray arrests Theo for it.
- Justin tries to interrupt Murray's arrest of Theo, but with Alf sticking by his complaint and plenty of witnesses, Cash has no choice but to charge him and Theo accepts he's guilty. Ryder, who has been spending the day with Bella, is also unable to help. Dean tries to ring Karen and finds her phone disconnected. He and Ziggy go to look for her. Nikau and Chloe are down after their first visit to Ari and unable to get enthused about Mia's wedding plans. Roo continues to give Martha the cold shoulder when she returns from art class.
- Justin tries to encourage Theo, who touches base with Chloe. Theo tells Ryder they should stay away from each other. Alf is pleased but annoyed that no-one in the family agrees with him. Ryder encourages Roo to make up with Martha, saying he'd have wanted more time with Evan, but Martha chooses to move to Merimbula. Mia organises a family meal to discuss wedding arrangements but Nikau and Chloe aren't interested. Mia reads Chloe's journal and discovers how depressed and guilty she is about events. Tane takes Nikau away and shows him Mikaere's old taiaha and tells him he has to earn it.
- Neve is nervous chatting with Logan and Mackenzie. When she sees Bella taking photos, she tries to grab her camera and hits Logan when he intervenes. Martha convinces Alf to stay with Roo while she goes to Merimbula alone. Tane runs Nikau through the rituals surrounding the taiaha. Mia apologises to Chloe that she couldn't talk to her but tells her she needs to burn the journal as evidence; Chloe complies. Logan gets up during the night to check on Neve, unaware Mackenzie is awake.
- Jasmine tries to keep her birthday secret after learning John knows, but Irene ends up telling Felicity. Neve throws herself and Logan to the ground after hearing an engine backfiring. Mackenzie is bothered by Neve and says she has to leave but this results in Logan moving out to a motel with her. Alf spends the day fixing a motor to avoid talking to Justin. Dean returns from his trip away and Karen soon turns up. After dodging his questions, she admits she's hiding from a man called Brett who wants to marry her.
- Jasmine suggests she and Cash do something that evening. He learns it's her birthday from Felicity and organises a romantic birthday dinner. Jasmine initially walks away before explaining she was always disappointed her father never contacted her on her birthday. Alf meets Justin to clear the air but Justin walks out when he realises Alf still thinks he was right to call the police on Theo. Karen asks to stay with Dean and Ziggy until Brett loses interest. Dean pays John to keep Karen busy while they hide all evidence of Jai, but she finds a discarded photo. Dean explains the truth, leaving her depressed and thinking people are better off without her.
- Alf complains to Felicity about someone stealing flowers. In fact, she has taken them for a belated birthday celebration with Cash and Jasmine. However, the pair decide to go away to the city together, leaving her alone. Karen meets up with John and learns about Jai from him. Dean and Ziggy arrange for her to see Jai from a distance before John takes her over, introducing her as his girlfriend. Dean insists they need to talk about Brett.
- Nikau and Tane finish their warrior training and Tane gives Nikau the taiaha before they return home. Tane quickly sends Nikau to see Bella while he spends the night with Felicity. Dean calls Brett Maloney from Karen's phone and he turns up the next morning. Karen tries to put him off, including kissing John, but Brett says he'll be there when she's stopped freaking out. Mia tries to talk to Chloe but she refuses to lean on the woman she's left heartbroken. Mia asks Bella to talk to her instead.
- Nikau and Tane discuss Felicity as Mia sends Bella to chat to Chloe. Although Chloe still thinks she's to blame, she joins the others for a family meal and a discussion of the wedding, with Tane also inviting Felicity along. Justin and Theo are preparing for his sentencing and Alf's lack of interest leaves him at odds with Roo and Ryder. Ryder locks himself in the store room at Salt and goes into a panic. Justin frees him and takes him home to Roo.
- Mackenzie has an awkward encounter with Logan outside the surf club and fills in Dean. Dean goes to the motel and punches Logan. Alf is unhappy to see Justin in the house and bickers with Roo. Theo turns down Ryder's offer to accompany him to court and Ryder moves out to a caravan. Theo challenges Alf over him getting community service, saying Alf is blaming him for his own failures. Mackenzie walks in on Neve kissing Logan. She calls the Australian Defence Force but doesn't say anything.
- Cash and Jasmine return from their holiday. Mackenzie talks to Logan alone about the kiss and Neve overhears her saying she called the defence force but not that she didn't say anything. Neve later attacks Mackenzie at the surf club, resulting in Logan and Cash stepping in. Logan accepts he can't help Neve and finds she has left a note and disappeared. Justin talks Theo out of leaving town and Theo asks him not to tell his family. Alf accepts he let Ryder down and apologises to Justin and Theo. Irene tells Jasmine that Cash can move in if she wants. Jasmine puts it to Cash but he declines and abruptly leaves.
- Cash returns to the caravan park and snaps at Felicity. Next morning, he tells Jasmine that he doesn't want to leave Felicity. When Felicity hears, she tells him not to use her as an excuse. Jasmine withdraws the invite and refuses to discuss it. Justin tries to rebuild his friendship with Alf. Logan fails to find Neve but after he has moved back in with Mackenzie she turns up. She admits she has a problem but wants him to help her. Logan consults a military lawyer and learns that, although she'll get treatment if she turns herself in, she'll likely serve at least seven years for desertion. Neve chooses to leave.
- Logan finds Neve having a panic attack and insists that either she turn herself in or he'll do it for her. Mackenzie tells her to not make Logan do that to her and she surrenders to military police. Cash and Jasmine finally talk things over and she admits she rushed into asking him to move in. Theo has his first community service session and learns from Cash that his papers were accidentally sent to his old address. He rings his mum to check his dad hasn't seen them and admits to John that his father used to beat him. He keeps it from Justin but looks haunted.
- Dean and Ziggy are struggling for alone time with Karen around. Ziggy looks up Brett and learns he volunteers with the rural fire service and coaches a kids' footy team. She determines to get them back together. Both Roo and Alf reach out to Ryder, with Alf accepting the money, but he refuses to move back in, even when Theo has a word. John tries to get Theo to tell someone about how his father treated him. Nikau and Tane worry about Ari, especially when he misses a phone call with Mia. Mia looks teary when a dress arrives.
- Tane distracts himself with Felicity while Bella and Nikau accompany Chloe home. Mia presents her with her bridesmaid's dress but it just upsets her and leads to Bella giving Mia a serve. Ziggy and Dean invite Brett to have dinner with them but he leaves after Karen's sniping gets too much. Dean tells Karen she's allowed to be happy and she invites Brett over. Mia rushes to the hospital on hearing Ari has been brought in, watching in concern as Logan treats him for abdominal pains.
- Tane and Nikau fail to find Chloe and head to the hospital. Alf and Roo follow Ryder to Salt and, after a talk from Roo, Ryder accepts Alf's apology. Logan initially thinks Ari has appendicitis and Mia makes plans to get him out on bail until his sentencing. Chloe and Bella eventually join the group at the hospital but, after surgery, Logan reports Ari actually has cancer, which has already spread throughout his abdomen. Dean gets Brett and Karen together and tells them both how the other is feeling. Logan breaks the news to Ari: The only option is a brutal surgery to remove the tumours which will only delay the inevitable.
- Ziggy convinces Dean to go check on Karen and Brett but he is slightly freaked out to find them "making up". He and Ziggy later return home and have to endure an uncomfortable dinner with the frisky couple. Ari tells his family and Logan that he isn't going to have the operation. Nikau, Tane and Chloe reluctantly accept it but Mia is unhappy. Felicity is filled in by Bella. Ari tells Mia he wishes he'd married her years ago.
- Felicity and Bella see off Nikau and Tane as they go to get Ari dressed up at the hospital. Chloe and Mia surprise him by turning up in wedding outfits; Mia has arranged for them to get married that day. Ari gets through the service but collapses soon after. Dean and Ziggy try to broach the subject of Karen and Brett leaving and she eventually reveals she's decided to move in with Brett. Ari dies with his family around him, leaving them to mourn in their own ways.
- Ziggy and Dean get a call about Ari dying. Dean goes round to confront Logan, leading to Mackenzie overhearing. Ziggy shares the news with Alf, Irene and Roo, the latter of whom calls Ryder while he, Justin and Theo are noting he has just graduated from his course. Ziggy fills Logan in on Ari's history with Mackenzie and he tells her he knows. Ziggy convinces Dean they should go away with Jai. Alf tries to cheer everyone up by celebrating Ryder's graduation but Ryder was expecting people to do something for the Paratas and ends up walking out.
- Ryder doesn't feel able to go into the Maori wake being held for Ari, even though John's been there. Alf clears the air with him but Roo's attempt to call Martha is more awkward. Theo hits upon the idea of him and Ryder recording a video message of recollections about Ari for his family, roping in Alf, Irene, Roo, John and Justin. Cash rethinks moving in with Jasmine after recent events and seeing how well Felicity is coping. He asks Irene for the key to move in and surprise her but she refuses, so he approaches Jasmine at Salt and asks if the offer's still open.
- The Maori traditions are in place at the Paratas' house but Tane has to get Nikau to take part. Chloe flees from Mia's distress and spends the night at Bella's. Cash and Jasmine agree to move in together. Several of the neighbours, including Alf, Roo, John, Justin, Cash and Jasmine, turn up to join the Paratas for the final stages of the ceremony before Nikau and Tane take Ari's body back to New Zealand.
- Alf and Justin fill Irene, Ryder and Theo in on the wake. Chloe is reluctant to be alone with Mia and asks Bella to stay with her. Mia quizzes Cash about the court process and learns the case has been closed. Chloe is pleased when Ryder and Theo show her their video, but when she shows it to Mia, she accuses the pair of making things worse. Cash is awkward having dinner with Irene and bumping into her during the night and tells Jasmine he doesn't feel at home there.
