- Women whose husbands are incarcerated decide to band together to rob a hotel safe, posing as male robbers.
- Ponch and Jon track down a tow truck driver who robs stranded single women motorists. Ponch's exposure to a leaky tank of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) threatens his performance on the streets as well as in the CHP's big basketball game.

Ponch is dealing with a couple of girls who go around on bikes and pursue anyone who is speeding. He suspects that one of them has a personal reason for what she is doing.
- After joining the Accident Investigation Team, a psychologist fears she may have accidentally caused an accident; the CHP team recreates a crash.
- A man who commits insurance fraud by deliberately causing accidents on the freeway creates a deadly situation. Baricza is injured and another CHP officer is killed.
- Ponch and Jon are given an undercover assignment that involves racing in the demolition derby. Ponch becomes interested in a mysterious female driver.
- Thieves are planning a con job. Before the job takes place, they are in a hit and run crash with a friend of Sgt. Getrear's son, who is taken in by the Getrears. Jon investigates the crash and finds there is more involved than a crash.
