- Ingredients for a high school party: a parentless basement, mood lighting, a fool dancing, someone crying in the bathroom.

Often, these things are said by our friends, classmates, family members. To Rose, comments like these ring louder than ever now that she's out to herself and to a select few. What if coming out all the way out makes it even worse? What if she's singled out because she's gay? Is this what Vanessa is so afraid of? Is that why she's behaving the way she has been? Questions like these can be overwhelming. Meanwhile, at home, Nathan has an unexpected encounter - which might have devastating consequences.

- Vanessa has left home and is on the street. While her parents worry and finally decide to go to Rose's house, Vanessa meets Kayla, who offers her a shelter for the night, where she meets Marco, Erica and Tracey.
- Rose and Dad are catching up while play catch on Toronto's Centre Island. While dropping ball on some secrets, the biggest shock comes to them when they get home and someone is waiting for them.
- Vanessa reluctantly returns home, surprises await her.
