- A common day in the actual Italy, narrated by the different stories of seven different people, it's the starting point for an overview to the 21st century's italian society, among corrupt politicians, unfaithful husbands, hardcore soccer fans and dishonest businessmen.
- 1976, Northern Italy. In July 10, an incident in the "ICMESA" implant provokes a chemical fallout over the town of Seveso, not far from Milan. A massive cloud of dioxin comes out from a damaged reactor, falling down on the earth and causing one of the most terrible ecological disasters in history. For days, the "La Roche" corporation which owns the factory tries to minimize the incident, so that Seveso's inhabitants persist to stay in their houses, exposed to the dioxin's deadly effects.
- Colonel Moresco and twelve of his soldiers occupy a Sicilian hospital, taking all patients and doctors hostages and giving an ultimatum to the Italian Government: if Rome will not admit its role in having hided the proofs of the use of depleted uranium's weapons in the Balcan Wars and the subsequent, countless cases of cancer among the soldiers of the Italian Army due to it within 56 hours, all of the hostages will be killed. The negotiator Paolo Manfredi is called in order to save the hostages, not knowing that his wife and his daughter are among them.
- On Christmas Eve in Milan, three friends dressed in Santa Claus costumes are arrested by the police during an apparent robbery attempt and taken to a police station, where the Chief Bestetti accuses them of being the band of thieves known as the "Santa Clauses Band". In search of a way to prove their innocence, the three try to explain the reasons for which they found themselves in such strange situation.
