Dominated by her cruel foster father, Lady Lou ( Miriam Cooper ) is forced into the dance hall life at a brutal lumber camp. A secret admirer who is in love with Lou, helps her escape to a neighbouring camp. She falls in love and marries lumberjack Conahan ( Charles Clary ), but does not tell him about her past. When Lou's unattractive past is found out in a confrontation with her foster father, her husband turns from her in disgust. She once again is saved by the secret admirer's intervention when he tells Conahan the truth about Lou's life. After Conahan's and Lou's reconciliation, the secret admirer, no longer needed, wanders alone into the snow.
The Silent Lie was directed by Raoul Walsh and starred his wife, actress Miriam Cooper. It was re-released as Camille of the Yukon in 1920 and now sadly remains a lost silent film.
