Upon discovering a baby washed up on the shore after a storm, Andy MacTavish ( Joseph J. Dowling ) rescues the waif and names her Ariel ( Bessie Barriscale ). As she grows, the young girl often dances on the beach and dreams of a man who will appear to her out of the mist. The dream comes true, when one day she witnesses an airplane crash in which the pilot, Franklin Shirley ( George Fisher ) is injured. Ariel and Andy care for Franklin until he recovers his health, after which he returns home. But, Ariel has fallen in love with Franklin and journeys to London, where she hopes to acquire the education and culture, necessary to win him. She meets impresario Abe Strohman ( Herschel Mayall ) and with his encouragement, she becomes a renowned dancer. Now Franklin's social equal, Ariel uses all her wiles to win his love, despite the fact that he is already engaged to Elaine Shackleford ( Lois Wilson ). Ariel is just about to give up, when Elaine surprises everyone by eloping with Richard Barrows ( Clifford Alexander ). Now Franklin is free to wed Ariel, and they are happily reunited.
