A 20th Century Robinson Crusoe
Single-Black-Male9 March 2004
The 26 year old Harold Lloyd is a displaced human resource in this short film. His job is being a janitor, but he's not cut out for it as he is destined for bigger things. He is portrayed as a forgotten figure in society in this short film; a member of the marginalized class even though he could claim that he has a middle class upbringing. The world around him relegates him to an invisible community, not wanting him to participate in mainstream events. One can't help feel that there is more than a janitor being discriminated against here. If he was a lawyer or a doctor then maybe professional society would embrace him.
