Another Sad Loss For Silent Cinema
PamelaShort23 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Mary O'Rourke ( Mary Miles Minter ) leaves Ireland to visit her cousin Norah in New York, she discovers that Nora and her baby have sadly been abandoned by her husband, John Stuyvesant ( Allan Forrest ). She goes to the home of the Stuyvesants, where John's mother, an invalid, mistakes Mary for her son's wife. She is warned that the woman could die from shock, so Mary reluctantly assumes the role of daughter-in-law and nurses her back to health. Meanwhile, John and his cousin Fred ( Charles Spere ) return from a trip. John's fiancée, Genevieve Harbison ( Margaret Shelby ) demands they get married the following day to prove that he is not already married. At the church, Mary produces Norah's marriage certificate, which John notices is for "John Frederick " Fred's real name. Fred then explains that his inheritance requires that he not be married until the next day. Genevieve is furious and leaves after John agrees to play Fred's role, but when Fred sees Norah, he acknowledges the marriage. Mary then confuses Fred's trustee with Irish blarney and wins the legacy for Fred. Mary then accepts John's marriage proposal.

Sadly this Mary Mile Minters film is now considered lost. This is the only synopsis I could track down, the storyline is confusing and I wish the film was available to set the record straight for fans of silent cinema and Mary Miles Minter.
