Famous for his delicious pancakes which he cooks for the Cadman lumber camp, Hannibal Pillsbury ( David Butler ) meets Alice Dryden ( Leatrice Joy ) while she is visiting her fiancé, Andrew Cadman ( J. Parker McConnell ). After being fired for a practical joke, Hannibal encounters Alice again at a Greenwich Village restaurant named the Purple Guinea Pig. They decide to capitalize on Hannibal's cooking talents and buy their own restaurant, that becomes very successful. A newspaper story of their partnership brings to town Alice's Aunt Ellen ( Frances Raymond ) and Cadman who conspire to lure Alice away from Hannibal. They invite Alice onto Cadman's yacht with the intent of abducting her, fortunately Mickey, Hannibal's young friend, overhears their plot and informs him. Hannibal heroically swims to the rescue, and the grateful Alice realizes that she really loves her lumberjack chef .
