John Gilbert performed his own stunt work, in the underwater scene where he had to cut himself out of a canvas bag and then cut the heavy weight tied to his feet.
The film was long thought lost, with the negative and all known positives having perished, until "a single worn and choppy print" was found in the Czech Republic, from which the film was reconstructed with the aid of the original script.
When Gilbert's career really started to heat up at MGM, his old studio, Fox,
rereleased several old titles from his years there, this one included.
