When Kid Boots debuted at a New York City movie theater in October of 1926, many officers from the New York Police Department were sent there for crowd control, due to the increasing popularity of Clara Bow, as well as the great reviews of the film by critics.
The original Broadway production opened at the Earl Carroll Theater (later moving to the Selwyn Theater) on December 31, 1923, and ran for 489 performances. Eddie Cantor reprised his role in the movie version.
Comedic actor Jack Oakie was supposed to make a sound version of this film for Paramount in 1930, but the proposed film was shelved by studio executives.
