Storyline

Johnnie loves his train ("The General") and Annabelle Lee. When the Civil War begins he is turned down for service because he's more valuable as an engineer. Goofs

As the rebels are shooting down on the wrecked trestle and Union soldiers fording the river, they reload their rifles through the breech, or back, of the gun. During the Civil War, breech-loading rifles were predominately carbines, not musket style. Carbines are shorter than muzzle loaded muskets. They should have been pouring gunpowder down the muzzle, then ramming in a wad-covered mini ball. See more »
