The Smiths - Jimmy, his wife, baby Bubbles, and large dog Cap - visit San Francisco's Chinatown. In a restaurant, Bubbles puts rubber bands in the noodles and Smith can't figure out how to use chopsticks. They go to a horse show where Cap creates discord. Jimmy notices the lovely Lilian Sanders, a horse trainer. Smith's wife thinks his eye is wandering, but in truth, he wants to buy a pony from her, sneak it onto the ship they're taking back to L.A., and surprise Bubbles with the gift. All of his - and Lilian's - actions are innocent, but each looks or sounds bad to Mrs. Smith, to the ship's crew, and to the captain himself. Can this be straightened out, or is divorce in sight?
