Popular singer Rudy Vallee is spoofed here, as the jack in the box singing into a megaphone. Adult cinema audiences of the time would have appreciated the subtle humor.
Vitaphone production reel #5343.
Lots of similarities to early Disney animation here, common at the time, including what looks like an early version of Pluto, as the armored dog beset by fleas. But none so much as the character saying, "So Long, folks!" at the end of the short. A poke at Mickey Mouse, yet clearly a member of the pig family because of the snout. Porky's predecessor, perhaps.
The title is a bit of a play on the nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence," where the Queen is eating bread and honey in the parlor. Another nursery rhyme, "Old King Cole" is also spoken by the court jester.
