- Peggy Wilton: Dad, do you think I'm too old to go into the chorus? I mean, the Follies or something?
- Eddie Wilton: No! I couldn't allow that. My sister - a *chorus* girl!
- Peggy Wilton: Well, you told me that girl I saw you with last week was in the chorus. You said she was a nice girl.
- Eddie Wilton: So she was; but, that's different.
- Peggy Wilton: He just stretched out and took me.
- Henry Wilton: Did you want to be taken?
- Peggy Wilton: [dreamily] I love being taken.
- Henry Wilton: She's gone. Emmy's gone.
- Peggy Wilton: [consoling him] Father, darling.
- Henry Wilton: I'm all right, dear. I'm all right.
- Henry Wilton: [continues, wistfully] She was afraid... She couldn't face being poor.. with me.
- Emmy 'Sweetie' Wilton: I'm a little disappointed. Last night when we were poor, we all seemed so much happier than when we were not.
- Henry Wilton: Do you know why that was, dear?
- Emmy 'Sweetie' Wilton: No, why?
- Henry Wilton: It was because the poor don't get to go very often.
