First and only American film for German film star Lil Dagover. This is possibly First National's attempt to find their own Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich who were popular at MGM and Paramount, respectively.
At one point, Lil Dagover's character states that her husband is more than twice her age. In reality, Walter Huston who played the husband was just four years Dagover's senior at 49.
Based on the play "In the Night Watch" that opened on Broadway at the Century Theatre, Central Park West and W. 62nd St. on January 29, 1921 and ran for 113 performances.
Premiered at Warner Bros. Strand Theatre in New York city on 30 December 1931.
