The title is based on the poem "Thursday" by Edna St. Vincent Millay, which contains the lines "And if I loved you Wednesday, Well, what is that to you?I do not love you Thursday-So much is true."
The play by Molly Ricardel and William DuBois opened at the Sam H. Harris Theatre in New York on October 11, 1932, and ran for 63 performances. The cast included Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda and Rose Hobart.
