Porky and Buckwheat have fireworks and Alfalfa and Spanky want them. So, to get the explosives, the two plan to dress up like an adult and take them--telling them that they are 'G-Men'. It's all pretty silly and is not the first time the boys dressed up like an adult with one sitting on the other's shoulders. Despite being utterly ridiculous, the pair do get hold of the fireworks from Porky and Buckwheat--but naturally their plan eventually backfires...in more ways than one. It all culminates in a VERY exciting recitation of "The Charge of the Light Brigade".
Like their later shorts, this one is very short--at only 10 minutes. However, this didn't seem to hurt this one, as it made the most of it and is still pretty cute when seen today. Not great but better than their average film. Plus, with no singing, it's an improvement over many of their other films of the era.
