Sandy gets billing, but why not the duck?

Warning: Spoilers
This is a pleasant little, too, Universal's third film starring adorable baby Sandy. she is left by her widowed father on hue Herbert's desk, as the father believes that her birth is a little old lady who dispenses motherly advice. Herbert, in no position to take care of a little baby, tries to figure out what to do and it ends up in the hands of Florence Rice and Richard Carlson, a young couple who have barely started dating. Somehow it is believed by Carlson's parents that the baby is theirs (without the sanctity of marriage, pretty scandalous for 1939!), and Rice gladly hands the baby over to them. Herbert shows back up on the scene with a pet duck, and somehow Sandy and the cute bird end up on a laundry chute, in a laundry truck, sailing down a hilly Los Angeles Street, ending up in a laundry facility.

While definitely of a programmer nature, this pleasant comedy is at the light from start to finish featuring many fine comic performances, particularly Edgar Kennedy as a wallpaper hanger who ends up babysitting Sandy to his chagrin with hysto5rical results. The film has plenty of farce, a bit of romance and even if it comes into question that nobody here would legally be allowed to adopt a baby oh, that's so small consequences. Sandy is a stealer of scenes, but once the cute little quacker comes on screen, Sandy needs to cry foul! Yet, they share their scenes together quite nicely, and this ends up being a delightful surprise.
