At the beginning of the film a bet is made in pesos. The monetary unit in Panama is the Balboa, not the peso.

The opening location shots show Panama City and the Miraflores Locks in the Canal Zone, all of which are on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, cutting directly to the main action locations, which take place on the city of Colón, which is on the Atlantic Ocean coast.
