- Nick Carter: Nice work, Beeswax. How does it feel to be crazy?
- Bartholomew: I didn't notice any difference.
- Nick Carter: [Reading from a sign] 'Al Taurez Seaman's Association.' Good old Al!
- Bartholomew: A clue?
- Nick Carter: Back in the States Al was always a clue.
- Bartholomew: This Mr. Taurez seems to be a man of generous nature.
- Nick Carter: Ah, yeah, Al would give his best friend a knife in the back any day.
- 'Gunboat' Jacklin: [Ironically, after seeing Taurez play with a parakeet after throwing a knife in the back of an associate] Did yuh ever see such a soft-hearted guy as Al?
- 'Gunboat' Jacklin: I don't know what you're talkin' about! Bombs? I never seen no bombs! What would I be doin' with a bomb anyway?
- Nick Carter: Well, you're either a very smart liar or really as dumb as you look. I don't know which.
- 'Gunboat' Jacklin: [Feeling insulted] Don't call me dumb!
- Bartholomew: Steady - or I'll draw a bead on you right between the eyes.
- 'Gunboat' Jacklin: [Fuming] why, you, you... someday I'll find a name for you!
- Nick Carter: [after Taurez introduces him to all the riffraff in his club] Say, you know I'm on a vacation. What's the idea of putting the finger on me?
- Al Taurez: Oh, you're mistaken, Nick.
- Nick Carter: Oh. Oh, but you're a liar, Al, and if I'm wrong...
- Al Taurez: [Anticipating] ... you'll apologize, I know.
- Dolores: Where do we go from here, keed?
- Nick Carter: Maybe Al can answer that?
- Al Taurez: Ah, look, Nick, the past is over and done with. Can't we be friends?
- Nick Carter: Sure, why not? You're a man after my own heart... with a knife.
- Bartholomew: [as Nick comes out the door] This note was waiting for you at the hotel.
- Nick Carter: [Reading the note] 'Please meet me in my office at seven o'clock... Franklin Morris.' Wonder what Morris could want with me?
- Bartholomew: Mysterious... it's several hours to seven o'clock.
- Nick Carter: Oh, but so much to be done.
- Bartholomew: Yes... yes.
- Nick Carter: Let's see...
- Bartholomew: Let's see.
- Nick Carter: Where do we begin?
- Bartholomew: Ah... where?
- Nick Carter: I've got it!
- Bartholomew: Yes, yes, of course.
- Nick Carter: Ah, Al Taurez.
- Bartholomew: We check.
- Nick Carter: Keep you smile, Deadeye.
- Nick Carter: [as Carter begins to search MacMillan, he giggles as if he's being tickled] Oh, you're a nice boy. Written home to your mother lately?
- 'Gunboat' Jacklin: [Indignant] You keep our mothers out of this!
- Andy MacMillan: [pointing] Hey you, lend a hand here!
- Bartholomew: Sir, I work with my brain.
- Andy MacMillan: Then you must have been on relief a long time.
- Nick Carter: Come on, Beeswax, he's got your number.
- Nick Carter: Uh, I don't suppose you're a spy?
- Cora Barnes: Oh, but I am. Everyone in Colon's a spy. Haven't you seen the sign in the movie theaters? No spies under 18 admitted.
- Nick Carter: Tell me, Al, what became of the Cleaners and Dyers Union you used to run in the old days?
- Al Taurez: Oh, Nick, you know I'm superstitious. When 13 G-men started looking for me on a Friday, I figured that was bad luck and I got out of town.
