Although "Remember the Maine!" was a rallying cry for the Spanish-American War, it was not first uttered by Theodore Roosevelt, as is shown in this film. It first appeared in the "yellow journalism" newspapers of publishers William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, in an attempt to boost sales.
Theodore Roosevelt's unsuccessful return to politics with his 1912 run for the Presidency on the Bullmoose Party ticket is not referred to.
The version shown on Turner Classic Movies carries a 1947 copyright; since it's unlikely that was a mistake, it would seem to have been re-released in that year with a refilmed main title.
