- In the 6th film of the series, preceded by "The Lone Rider Ambushed" and followed by "The Lone Rider and the Bandit," and not followed by "Border Roundup" in sequence order), The Lone Rider, Tom Cameron, and his sidekick, "Fuzzy" Jones, arrive at ranch of Uncle Joe Hawkes and find their old friend murdered. Tom recovers a forty-caliber bullet from the body, leading him to believe the murderer was Al Williams, a gunman employed by Mitter, crooked promoter who had swindled Hawkes out of a valuable gold mine. Thinking Tom is out for vengeance, Joan, niece of Hawkes, warns the Sheriff, hoping to prevent bloodshed. Instead, Tom pretends to join Mitter's gang. Gang-member George Clarke murders Williams, to keep him from talking, and places the blame on Tom, who is jailed by the Sheriff. Realizing her mistake, Jean sells her ranch to obtain lawyer fees, which she turns over to "Fuzzy." He attempts to regain the deed from Mitter by returning the money, but is unsuccessful. He then manages to have himself arrested, and with a saw smuggled inside his boots, frees himself and Tom. The two then decide to play the gang-members against each other.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
