There have only been three ships named for the city Cleveland. The first was cruiser C-19 commissioned in 1903 and scrapped in 1930. Long before the time, this film is set in. The second was CL-55, a light cruiser commissioned in 1942 which was after the time this film is set in. And the third was LPD-7 and amphibious transport dock commissioned in 1967. So there was no U.S.S. Cleveland with the U.S. Navy during the time represented in this film.
