Chile was officially neutral during World War 2 until it declared war on Japan on 13 April 1945. Its Investigative Police Units did stop a Nazi plot to blow up the Panama Canal and bomb Chilean copper mines. Chile did supply the Allies with strategic materials, such as copper during the war.
Colombia was essentially neutral at the beginning of World War 2 until a German U-boat sank a Colombia ship. The country then declared war on German on 26 November 1943. The Colombian Navy assisted in patrols of the Carribean and off the Panama Canal.
