The scene of the fox peering through window shades (Venetian blinds) while hiding in the bushes is a clever allusion to a duck blind, a camouflaged shelter to house duck hunters.
Duck hunting was a popular pastime in the postwar era, and A.Fox has all the very latest hunting gear.
The fox and duck dynamic (sight gags, unsuccessful pursuit, etc) would later be the hallmark of WB duo Roadrunner and Coyote.
It's implied that the duck caused the demise of the fox, something that likely pushed the censorship envelope at the time. Two years later, Mazurka Mouse (1949) would have a similarly unsettling ending.
