British actor Peter Bull often recalled this film as one of his favorite engagements, as he spent six weeks in Italy and had only one line of dialogue to remember. He claimed he spent most of his time sunning himself on local beaches and fending off the advances of an Hungarian adventuress who wanted to become his mistress.
The original novel by James Hadley Chase is set in and around Las Vegas. The plot was moved to Europe when the British company Romulus got involved in producing it. The making of the film began before the end of 1949, but it was not released until 1951.
