This was the first of seven Bomba movies in which Leonard Mudie played Regional Commissioner Andy Barnes, who befriended and assisted Bomba to a greater degree in each successive film.
Asian elephants were used because African elephants are hard to train. Since Asian elephants have smaller ears than African ones, larger fake ears were attached to them.
Several hallmarks of Monogram Pictures' legendary corner-cutting techniques--including obvious rear projection, blatant soundstage "jungle" sets with painted backdrops and stock footage of jungle creatures --are seen repeatedly throughout this film.
As usual, Bomba wears anachronistic, often visible, dark underwear beneath his loincloth, in order to placate the members of the production code committee who expressed their usual concern over the possibility of undue exposure resulting from what is now referred to as "wardrobe malfunction."
