Based on a 1927 novel by Georges Arthur Surdez titled "The Demon Caravan". Surdez (1900-49) contributed many adventure stories to such publications as "Collier's", the "Saturday Evening Post" and "Argosy". He was especially noted for his French Foreign Legion tales.
Yvonne De Carlo turned down the role of Morjana in this movie. "It was the part of a silly princess who falls through doors or something," she told columnist Erskine Johnson. "I can't afford to do parts like that anymore. I want to prove that I'm a good actress." The role went to fellow Technicolor beauty Arlene Dahl.
Shot in 1951, not released until 1953.
