First appearance of Sam Sheepdog (referred to here as "Ralph") and Ralph Wolf (unnamed here).
The title is a play on the famous saying, "Don't Give Up the Ship!" attributed as the last words of Captain James Lawrence of the USS Chesapeake during the war of 1812.
The wolf fantasizes about the sheep as a leg of mutton and a lamb chop - not as a ham and a steak, as stated elsewhere here.
Fred, who is just coming off shift, is acknowledged by Ralph as he heads to the time clock.
The only Sam and Ralph cartoon scored by Carl W. Stalling; the next five were by Milt Franklyn, and the last one was by William Lava.
