Barbara Lass was said to have won the contest of Polish "Film" magazine for the lead role in this classic comedy. However, after several decades the director revealed that the contest had been fictitious and purely promotional as he had chosen the young actress to play Ewa before the idea of making the contest had appeared.
The film won the Concha de Oro prize at Spain,s San Sebastian festival.

In arrestant cell there is a writing on the wall: "Stój Halina", meaning literally: Stop, Halina (Polish female given name). In fact it was popular wordplay in 1950s - by swapping first letters: "St" and "H" the effecting expression sounded like: "Stalin's dick" in Polish. Such scene in a movie was possible only after end of Stalinist period, and it was still quite provocative.
