Unusually, for a 59-minute British B-feature, this film enjoyed a three week run in the West End. It opened at the London Pavilion on 28 October 1960 and shared the bill with Wild for Kicks (1960). However, when The Gentle Trap was generally released at normal prices on 11 November 1960, the distributors decided it would better support main feature Surprise Package (1960).
One assumes that the Lincoln Continental was chosen for filming because it had a retractable rear window that allowed scenes to be shot directly through the open back window.
Co-star Martin Benson's blonde haired actress wife, Joan Hayward, appears in an uncredited walk-on role as a dancer auditioning for a role in the cabaret sequence.
