"Heldinnen" or "Heroines" is a pretty old German movie from 1960, so already over 50 years since this was made. The director is Dietrich Haugk, a fairly prolific German filmmaker in the 20th century and he only died a couple months ago at the age of 90. The writer is Charlotte Kerr who also worked as director and actress for other projects in her almost 50-year-long career. The two lead actresses Johanna von Koczian and Marianne Koch are still alive today, although Koch is retired and von Koczian rarely appears in television anymore. Both were obviously fairly young when "Heldinnen" came out. This film is basically what you would expect from a German film from 1960. Somehow these always looked the same to me. This one here runs for over 90 minutes, has some romantic relationships, some jokes about girls acting like men, some okay music, better than most films from that era and of course a happy ending finally. As a whole, unfortunately nothing stands out. The only mentionable difference to many other German films from that era is that it is set a long time ago like those "Sissi" films as well. Cannot really recommend it, even if it is not entirely bad.
