Better Than I Remembered
MovieGuy-1092420 July 2022
This is a funny, thought-provoking movie. In addition to a comedy, this is a thoughtful character study. Every actor executed their role with talent and skill. Not only did I laugh several times but afterward I kept thinking about the motivations of the various characters and how believable each was.

There are various types of comedy represented in this movie, and although some of the buffoonery is not to my liking, I felt that it was not over represented and fit well in the story.

Totò did an excellent job expanding his usual excellent comic skills just enough into drama to give the story some depth. I hate to praise just one of the supporting cast, but I felt that Nino Taranto really stood out.

The director did an excellent job with many details.

Totò even gave a little nod to Charlie Chaplin.

I recommend this movie.

Funny comedy from one to the best napolitan comedian

There isn't a lot to say. This movie is a funny enjoyable comedy. The plot is a bit more interesting than other comedies from the same years, and, as far as I know, it was depicted on a real episode happened in Italy.

Of course, Totó's jokes are very hard to be understood by non-italian speakers, just because his comicity relies partially on words and funny phrases. Of course, his facial expressions are very funny and made him famous in his years.

Despite form that, the actors, including Nino Taranto, are able to create such embarrassing and absurd situations, playing with the "madness" of their characters. The plot runs faster and, as I said, is far more interesting compared to other comedies, even modern ones (which rely mostly on nudity and dirty jokes).
