Although the American International Pictures end title gives sole music credit to staff composer Les Baxter, he actually scored just a few scenes (opening narration, love scene, etc) that AIP felt needed re-scoring. The bulk of the score, including the main and end titles, retained the original tracks by Francesco De Masi. This was proven when CAM released the original De Masi score on CD (CSE 111) in 1993. Most of the tracks therein found their way into the AIP release.
This was yet another film in which Italian hero Maciste had his name changed to, in this example, "Goliath" in the English-dubbed version.
Mark Forest's bare-chested torture scene, in which he's spreadeagled beneath a cluster of dangling, about-to-drop spears, may have inspired two similar scenes. Robert Culp, in the 1967 episode A Room with a Rack (1967), and 'Sam J. Jones', in the 1987 movie, Jane and the Lost City (1987), underwent similar ordeals.
The U.S. poster for American International's release promised, "SEE the ONE THOUSAND and ONE ORGIES of TORTURE!"
