Everyone is worried with Betty's sudden disappearance. Leslie and Rod hire a private detective, who claims to have seen her in a hotel called Quincy. While Rodney feels guilty and is sad, Leslie is delighted because he thinks a divorce can be final because of her "desertion". Mike and Connie grow more to each other. Laura tells Leslie that she thinks the family is no good. George visits Julie at the MacKenzie house. She tells him Betty has been gone for a while. Meanwhile, Allison admits to Rodney she saw Betty leave by bus. They are interrupted by George, who threatens to kill Rodney if Betty doesn't show up anytime soon. In the ending, a free Elliot Carson enters Peyton Place.

Elliot arrives in Peyton Place and first visits his father. Betty phones her mother to insure her that she is safe in New York. Allison prepares to sign up for Peyton College. Later, she meets up with Rodney and tells him Betty is in New York, but doesn't want to be found. Rod is annoyed by his feelings, because he is in love with his wife, but now also finds himself attracted to Allison. Afterwards, Allison has a polite talk with Elliot Carson. George later has a confrontation with Leslie, when he turns to the Mill and thinks he still works there for Leslie. When he arrives at his current job, his boss Mr. King demands his rent. George doesn't have the money and promises to give it to him later. After Mr. King leaves, George locks himself up in his office and pulls out a loaded gun.

It is midnight and George is still in his office with his gun. Julie and Connie are informed by Mr. King. Meanwhile, Elliot and Mike meet each other for the first time. Later, Mike and Julie arrive at George's office. When they hear a gunshot, it is Elliot who talks himself in the office. He hits George in the head and takes away his gun. He finally gives himself in to Mike and apologizes to Julie for his behavior. Mike tells Julie George is manic-depressive. Afterwards, Elliot meets Connie in her book store and asks her not to be afraid of him. She also tells him she doesn't want to tell the truth to Allison.

Elliot bonds with Allison when they talk about their love for writing. Later, Leslie offers Elliot a job at the mill, but he responses in-politely and refuses. Meanwhile, Laura resigns as Mike's secretary. Norman brags to Rodney that he has a date with Allison. Laura says to Mike she intends to make a world trip with his money. Allison asks Matt if she can use his archive to find information on Elliott. Elliot and Eli meet up with boarding house landlady Mrs. Hewitt. Elliott feels accused by her of his supposed murder on his wife. She apologizes and promises to make up with him. When she leaves, Elliott finds out his father thinks he actually did kill Elizabeth.

In New York, Betty applies at an employment agency, but refuses to tell where she is from. She is suggested to go back to Peyton Place. She is emotional and runs into Sharon Purcell, who offers Betty a helping hand. Back in Peyton Place, Laura is about to leave Peyton Place and gets drunk. Elliot goes to the Ada's Tavern, where Ada suggests him to leave the past behind after he asks her who Elizabeth's secret lover was. Elliott tells her he can't rest until he finds out who really killed Elizabeth. When Rodney tries to talk with Allison, she brushes him off. Connie sees this and asks him to leave Allison alone. At the library, Allison runs into Elliott. They talk about their love for poetry.

Connie and Allison are disappointed when Julie tells them she is ready to go to her own house. George is in therapy by Dr. Kessler. Mike asks Julie if she wants to be his secretary, since his latest secretary Laura has left for Europe. Julie agrees to consider his offer. Allison enrolls in Peyton College. When Rodney runs into Allison, he admits Connie has asked him not to hang out with her anymore. Meanwhile, Betty has befriended Sharon and they go out to shop for expensive clothes. When Elliot tries to refill the prescription of his father Eli, he is customized by Calvin Hanley, Elizabeth's father. He swears he didn't kill his daughter. At the moment Julie is leaving for dinner with Leslie, she gets a phone call from Betty. However, she has just left when the phone rings.

Betty calls her mother, but she isn't home. Elliot is visited by Elizabeth's brother Paul. Paull tells him he came back from Yale and is now a teacher. Elliot confronts him with Paul testifying against him. He asks Paul if he knows who really killed Elizabeth, and Paul responses it is Elliot himself. Meanwhile, Allison catches up with Rod and Norman and tells them Betty has called her, looking for her mother. Rod goes to Julie and tells her Betty has called. Julie thinks something has happened to her and is worried. At the sanitarium, George is in therapy by Dr. Kessler. He asks him about Betty, but George doesn't recognize her. Betty visits Sharon and she admits to Betty she has an affair with a married man. Elliot stops by Connie in her bookstore and tells her he would've married her if she wouldn't have been send to New York by her mother. They are interrupted by Mike, who is picking up Connie for a date. Elliot looks jealous and walks off alone.

After talking to Paul, Allison goes to the pharmacy, where Calvin tells her make-up will make her look cheap. Matt walks in and Calvin tells him he is certain Elliot has killed Elizabeth. When Betty and Sharon are catching up, Betty tells she won't return to Peyton Place. Michael tells Connie he isn't glad with Elliot in town. When Allison arrives at home, she tells about her hanging out with Paul. Connie tells her she wants her to see more people of her own age. Meanwhile, Elliot visits his father at the hospital. He tells him he is going to be operated. In New York, Sharon admits she sometimes feels empty inside when her married lover leaves for his family. They are phoned by him and he asks Betty out on a date. She reacts with hesitation, but accepts.

Elliot takes the bus to Lanford for a meeting with his parole officer E.J. Taggart. He next goes to the bookstore to bring a present to Allison, but Connie doesn't want him interfering with her and stops him. In New York, Betty and Sharon meet Sharon's married lover Phil and his friend Roy Roberts for a date. Meanwhile, Connie comes back from a dinner with Mike. Mike is frustrated she has her thoughts with Allison, who herself is out with Norman and Rodney. They eventually get angry at each other. In New York, Roy and Betty are alone in a room and he forces himself up to her. She is able to get away, but he thinks she's playing a game. She starts to scream and cries and he realizes he is molesting her. Roy calms her down and apologizes. He suggests her to go home and gives her money, before leaving.

Betty is phoned by Sharon's worried mother. She reminds her of her own mother and discovers she's a lot like Sharon. She next calls her own mother. Julie admits George is staying at a sanitarium. Betty is worried about him and promises to come home immediately. When she's packing her bags, Sharon unsuccessfully tries to stop her. Meanwhile in Peyton Place, Paul tells his father he talked to Elliot. Calvin tells him he did the right thing testifying against Elliot. Allison goes ice skating with Norman and they run into Paul. They join him for lunch. Elliot joins them as well, which causes tensions with Paul. At the Harrington house, Leslie tells Rod his detective has found out where Betty is staying. Rod isn't glad with a detective spying on her. They are interrupted by a phone call from Julie. She tells Rod Betty will return to Peyton Place. Leslie warns him with their history together.

Betty returns to her home in Peyton Place. Julie asks her if she would've stayed in New York if she hadn't told her father was ill, and Betty replies she would've. Rodney stops by and Betty tells him she will stay at her mothers for a while. Connie keeps Elliot company at the hospital, where Eli will be operated by doctor Rossi. Connie admits she has met Michael before when she gave birth to Allison. Meanwhile, Betty and Mike visit George at the sanitarium, but he doesn't say a word. On their way home, Betty tells Michael she doesn't feel guilty for George's health. She next asks Michael to drop her off at the Peyton Mill, because she wants to talk to Leslie.

Betty visits Leslie - who is talking to Detective Blaine - at the mill to annul her marriage with Rodney. In exchange, she wants him to pay George's medical fees. Leslie agrees and after she leaves, Blaine gives him a report of her acquaintances with Sharon Purcell. Meanwhile, Allison asks her mother about her period in New York, but Connie doesn't want to say anything about it. They are interrupted by the mail man, who has a package for Allison. It contains a drawing of Allison of a secret admirer. Betty stops by Rod to end their marriage on a friendly way. When she is about to leave, Rod kisses her. Betty tells him she doesn't want to see him anymore. Allison goes to an art exhibition with her friend Abby and runs into Paul. They are interrupted by Rodney, who is being looked down on by Paul because he doesn't know much about art. Meanwhile, Elliot visits Connie at her home and looks at the photo that is supposed to be Allison's father. They get into a fight and Elliot throws the photo on the floor.

Paul drives Allison home. Elliot is just walking away from the MacKenzie home and gets a lift from Paul. Elliot thinks he is persuading her and reminds him Allison is only 18. Paul confronts him with his past, which makes Elliot angry. The next day, Betty runs into Allison in Calvin's shop. Betty admits she's ending her marriage with Rod. When they leave, Paul bumps into them and is introduced to Betty. He walks into the shop and confronts his father with giving him the idea Elliot has killed Elizabeth. Meanwhile, doctor Rossi advices Elliot for Eli to move to a warmer climate to improve his health. Elliot reminds him he doesn't have any money for his father to move. At Peyton Mills, Leslie is visited by Matt. Matt is the executor of Catherine's will and reminds him Catherine wanted the mill to be owned by her father Martin Peyton. They are interrupted by doctor Wainwright, who has information about Catherine knowing he was unfaithful to his wife.

While having breakfast, Norman blames his father for the Harringtons not getting a penny out of Catherine's will. Rod tells his father he will stop by Betty, and Leslie warns him for having contact with her. He gives Rod the reports of detective Blaine about her so-called encounters with another man while in New York. At the MacKenzie house, Allison is celebrating her mother's birthday. She receives flowers from Michael by mail. Meanwhile, Rodney confronts Betty with her receiving money from a man in New York. He thinks more things have happened and admits she was being investigated. Betty gets angry at him, which results in Rodney hitting her. Connie tells Matt she knows the town is talking about her past with Elliot and is afraid Allison will find out the truth about her father. Elliot walks in and asks her out, but she tells him she already has plans with Mike. At the hospital, Betty visits doctor Rossi and tells him she doesn't know what to do with her life. They are interrupted by an injured child called Lucy Adams. It is Betty who cheers her up. Allison walks into Paul at the movies and admits she wants to join the New York field trip, arranged by him. Meanwhile, Connie and Mike are having dinner and Connie tells him that if Elliot actually did kill Elizabeth, she is the one to blame. Back at home, Connie doesn't allow Allison to go on a field trip, because Paul is the chaperon.

Eli is about to leave for Florida and Allison stops by to say goodbye. Elliot reveals to Eli Allison is his daughter. At the bookstore, Allison is mad at Connie for not giving her consent for Allison to go to New Yok. After Connie leaves, Matt stops by. Allison tells him Connie doesn't want to talk about New York and she says she thinks it has something to do with her father. Matt responds she needs to respect her mother's privacy. Meanwhile, Julie is finally Rossi's secretary. Betty visits her and reveals Leslie has hired a detective to spy on her while in New York. She tells him about Roy Roberts and why he gave her money. Mr. Wainwright is hired by Elliot to find the murderer of Elizabeth. Wainwright tells him he can't work for him. At the Harrington house, Leslie is frustrated Catherine revealed in her will she think Leslie has murdered Elizabeth. Elliot stops by and asks him about his encounters with Leslie. Leslie denies ever having had an affair with her. When Michael is at home, he finds a drunk Paul right outside his cottage. He reveals his late sister once lived there. At the same moment, Elliot passes along. Paul nervously excuses himself and leaves.

Elliot tells Mike he has got to proof he didn't kill Elizabeth. He wants to move in Mike's cottage. Julie confronts Leslie with hiring a private detective and demands him not to bother Betty anymore. Leslie gives her the only remaining copies of Betty activities in New York. Meanwhile, Rodney and Betty meet an attorney to sign papers for their divorce. At the sanitarium, Julie visits a more recovered George and she tells them about Betty and Rod's divorce. George asks her if she is alright with him visiting Peyton Place. When he's in another room, Dr. Kessler tells her he is almost back on his normal health. Julie worries it is too soon for his husband to be free. In Peyton Place, Allison asks Elliot why he got a ride from Paul a few days ago. Elliot admits he doesn't like him and thinks he is vicious and destructive. He warns her to stay away from him. He later tells to Matt he thinks Allison should know he is her father. Matt responds only Constance has the right to tell her. In the bookstore, Michael tells Constance he is moving out because Elliot wants the beach house. Matt drops in and urges her to tell Allison the truth about her father. Robert Wainwright stops by Calvin to tell him about Leslie's affair with Elizabeth. Calvin denies to believe him and sends him away. While on the streets, Elliot confronts Mr. Wainwright and Calvin witnesses this. Elliot walks into Calvin's place. Calvin tries to send him away, but Elliot insists on talking to him.

Elliot confronts Calvin in his shop with Elizabeth being unfaithful to him. He asks him who really killed Elizabeth and Calvin responds it was Elliot himself. When Elliot leaves, Calvin visits the Harrington house and confronts Leslie with having an affair with Elizabeth. He denies everything and Calvin threatens to destroy his reputation. Norman walks in on them and tells Leslie he thinks he is pursuing Calvin to tell Catherine had a lot of drug prescriptions, so everything she said in her will is not true. Meanwhile, Betty visits the injured child Lucy in the hospital. She later tells Mike she wants to have a family herself. Paul visits Connie and confronts her with her past in New York. She tells him she won't give Allison permission to go to New York. As soon as he leaves, she calls Elliot and he immediately visits her. She tells him she thinks Paul knows about her past. Elliot wants to know if she thinks he killed Elizabeth, but Connie does not respond. Norman visits Mr. Wainwright and asks him why Calvin visited Leslie on a late hour. Mr. Wainwright next visits Calvin and confronts him with his visit to Leslie. At the MacKenzie house, Constance tells Allison she isn't allowed to go to New York because of Paul. Paul witnesses his father collapsing.

Calvin Hanley has passed away. Allison asks Elliot about Eli, but Elliot responds with distance. Dr. Rossi suggests to his secretary Julie her daughter should consider becoming a nurse. Meanwhile, Betty and Rod's marriage is annulled. Leslie is told Martin Peyton will make sure he won't have a part in the ownership of the Peyton Mills. Norman walks in and tells his father he will testify against him if Leslie will try proving Catherine was incompetent while making her will.

Paul opens a casket and finds a wedding dress. He is haunted with his past testifying against Elliot. Julie admits to Connie she is concerned about George returning home. Michael prepares Nurse Choate on Betty applying as a nurse, but she responds the hospital doesn't need more staff. Norman visits Dr. Morton to talk about Catherine. Robert tells him he will help him proving she was not incompetent. Meanwhile, Betty arrives at the hospital for her job interview for a nurse's aid. Nurse Choate isn't impressed with her, but Michael tries to support her. He confronts nurse Choate, who tells him she won't hire her because of her personal problems and she also thinks Betty isn't responsible. Allison tries to comfort Paul after his fathers death, but he isn't moved. Outside, she runs into Rod. He tells her he wants to go out with her again. Paul has also found a diary in the casket and secretly leaves it at Elliot's cottage. Rod drives Allison home and asks her out for a ski date, which she accepts. After running into him, Allison mentions to her mother Elliot has become very distant to her. She tells Constance she thinks Elliot is lonely and they should invite him for dinner. Connie forbids the idea. At his cottage, Elliot finds the diary which belonged to Elizabeth.

Elliot reads Elizabeth's diary and notices her writing about her affair with the most powerful man of Peyton Place. He thinks this is Leslie. Leslie tells Robert his incorrect diagnosis of Catherine was the reason she died. Betty is now a nurse and nurse Choate confronts her with ignoring her constructions. Rod gets into a fight with Norman because of their different opinions on Leslie wanting to proof Catherine was incompetent. Later, Rod takes Allison out on a date and they run into Betty. Betty is on her way to the hospital and tells Michael she isn't the right person for the job. Mike asks her to tell the whole story and she admits she has personal conflicts with nurse Choate. Mike convinces her to keep her job. Meanwhile, Elliot meets up with Mr. Wainwright and tells him about Elizabeths diary, which proves Leslie had an affair with her. He also mentions he thinks Leslie killed her.

Mr. Wainwright confronts Leslie with having access to the proof he had an affair with Elizabeth. Allison is out on a date with Rodney, while Norman is at a party he is invited to by his friend Bud. When his friend isn't able to come, he catches up with his old school mate Rita Jacks, who has dropped out of school. He is introduced to her friend Kitch Brunner. Rita later confronts Kitch having put something in Norman's drink, which makes him behave wildly. Meanwhile, Leslie visits Connie and threatens to expose Elliot as Allisons father if she doesn't pursue Elliot to hand her over Elizabeths diary.

When Leslie blackmails Connie, their friendship is thrown away immediately. A drunk Norman is nearly able to walk and is stopped by Kitch and his gang and they get into a fight. Connie calls Elliot and tells him she will visit him, before Allison interrupts her. Meanwhile, Paul finds a tied up Norman and takes him to the hospital where he is treated by Dr. Rossi and Betty. Connie visits Elliot and tells him about Leslie's threat. Elliot is outraged, but gives her the diary. She tells him she's afraid Leslie will tell the truth, but Elliot assures her he will stop him.

Julie and Betty are nervous about George returning home. Rita visits Norman at the hospital. Norman tells her it is not her fault for what happened to him. Rod gives them a ride home and he makes sure he looks down on Rita. Meanwhile, George returns home and Julie responds very distant to everything he says. Elliot calls Leslie and tells him he will have to go to his cottage if he wants the diary. Connie talks to Matt about the threat, before Allison walks in. She tells them Paul has called her and acted very weird. At the Anderson home, George reveals he wants to become an artist. Betty admits to him she annulled her marriage to Rod. Leslie visits Elliot and promises to not use the diary if he leaves Constance and Allison alone. Leslie admits he visited Elizabeth at the night she was murdered, but swears he did not kill her.

Mr. Wainwright visits Elliot and is disappointed Elliot is not going to use Elizabeths diary against Leslie. Leslie asks Rod to find out who Normans new friend Rita is. Dr. Morton tells Mike and nurse Choate his daughter will return to Peyton Place from South Africa. Nurse Choate is delighted and admits to Dr. Morton she doesn't approve Dr. Rossi. She later suggests to Betty she should learn her duties so she won't make little mistakes anymore and makes clear she will have to compete with Claire Morton in the hospital whenever she turns home. Meanwhile, Rod seeks revenge on Kitch for beating up Norman. He looks him up and they get into a fight. Paul visits Elliot and admits he finally thinks he didn't kill Elizabeth. He pursues Elliot to use the diary against Leslie.

Betty tells her mother she wishes George won't ever have to go to a hospital again. Paul visits Leslie and confronts him with the material in Elizabeths diary and accuses him with murdering Elizabeth. Robert and Grace Morton are called by Claire, who has just arrived at a hospital. She tells them she will first have to go to New York, to receive an award she has won for a paper on tropical medicine. As soon as she hangs up, she tells her cab driver she won't go to New York. Meanwhile, Julie is called by a doctor who tells her George may have a second visit home. Paul calls Mr. Wainwright to tell he wants to meet him and is later interrupted by Allison. Norman meets up with Rita and tells she feels guilty she didn't do anything when her former boyfriend Kitch beat him up and tells him she broke off with him. He asks her out on a date, but Rita is worried his family will look down on her. She also informs him of Rod getting into a fight with Kitch. Norman is outraged and pushes Rod against a wall, before trying to hit him. Paul meets up with Mr. Wainwright to talk about the diary. He later talks to Betty, who admits her father will visit home soon. She mentions he and Leslie hate each other.

Elliot drives George to Peyton Place and Mike tries to calm Julie down for his arrival. Elliot is later served with a subpoena, ordering him to produce Elizabeth's diary in court. He meets up with Matt and tells him he wants to burn the diary to protect Allison. Matt reminds him he is still on parole and suggest him to meet up with Leslie to prevent the hearing. Meanwhile, Allison runs into Norman and invites him to Connie's bookstore, where they run into Rita. After she leaves, Norman asks Allison if she is jealous for him hanging out with Rita. Allison first denies, but admits she will miss him. Leslie meets up with his lawyer and no longer denies having had an affair with Elizabeth. Rita tells her mother Ada she has a crush on Norman, but worries about his disapproving family. Ada assures her she doesn't have to worry, because she knows Leslie from the past. Paul confronts Leslie at his office with having dropped the case of Elizabeth's diary. When he leaves, he first meets George, who wants to meet Leslie as well. When George is at Leslie's office, he promises him to pay him back the medical costs. Leslie suggests the Anderson family will need their money and George blames him for being locked up at the sanitarium.

When a frustrated George leaves Leslie's office, Paul gives him a ride home and offers him a drink at Ada's place. Elliot visits parole officer E.J. Taggart and tells him he is planning on leaving Peyton Place. Allison is out on a date with Rodney at a pizza place, but Rodney is at the court battle over Catherine's will with his thoughts. He tells Allison he is afraid Martin Peyton will arrive at town to destroy Leslie's career. Meanwhile, Connie visits Elliot and he announces he will leave town for her and Allison's safety. They are interrupted by a phone call from Julie, who tells Elliot George is missing. George himself is getting drunk at Ada's place. Paul makes Ada confirm Leslie had an affair with Elizabeth and thereby suggests Leslie had an affair with several married women, including Julie. George becomes angry and doesn't want Leslie to get away with all the affairs he had. At the MacKenzie house, Julie admits to Connie she thinks George will never change. They are interrupted by a phone call from Elliot, who tells George was at Ada's place but isn't there anymore now. Ada tells Elliot George is on his way to Leslie. Elliot calls him and warns him for George.

Robert and Grace Morton know Claire has never arrived in New York as promised. George breaks into Leslie's home. Leslie defends himself with a gun, but George falls and pretends to be hurt in order to grab the gun out of his hands. At that moment, Julie calls. George talked to Leslie a few seconds before about his affair with Julie and he thinks Leslie will kill Julie whenever he get bored with her. George demands a written confession of him murdering Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Norman is about to return home, but Paul tries to distract him. Elliot breaks into the Harrington house as well and witnesses George holding Leslie on gunshot and forcing him to write a confession. He tries to interfere, which makes George shoot him. George becomes delusional and Leslie is now able to grab back his gun. Betty is at the hospital and is worried about her father. Nurse Choate tells her the work place is no place for worrying about personal problems. They are interrupted by a phone call from Leslie. Connie and Julie learn George has shot Elliot. Julie holds Connie, but she becomes angry and leaves.

When Norman and Paul are riding home, Norman mentions he likes talking to him. Matt questions Leslie about the shooting and mentions he knows about the diary and him threatening Constance. On his way back home, Matt runs into Paul and accuses him for planning the whole shooting. He tells Paul it was Elliot who was shot. Paul reacts surprised and soon leaves. At the hospital, Betty finds out her father shot Elliot. Connie arrives at the hospital at the same time, but nobody has time to inform her on what exactly happened. Dr. Rossi and Dr. Morton work together to operate Elliot. Meanwhile, Allison and Rod come back from their date. Rod wants to stay when Allison arrives at home, but Allison doesn't want to. He goes back home and is informed George tried to shoot his father. Allison is also informed by Paul. At the hospital, Connie admits to Matt she's afraid Elliot will die. Leslie announces to his sons he will leave town. Dr. Rossi discovers the bullet is in Elliot's aorta.

Julie tells Betty George will be send back to the sanitarium and blames herself for George having a second visit to Peyton Place so soon. Betty suggests George was manipulated by someone. A doctor tells Dr. Morton his daughter has called from Miami. Leslie tries to talk to Constance, but she is mad at him. Meanwhile, Claire arrives at the hospital to surprise her father. Elliot questions Mike about Elliot's health and Mike assures him he will be just fine. He then wonders if he can visit him. Mike later keeps Claire company at the hospital. At the Harrington house, Rod and Norman try to figure out why George would've want to kill Leslie. Leslie responds it was because he mistreated the Anderson family. Julie tells Connie she visited George at the sanitarium, but he didn't recognize her. Leslie runs into Paul and forces him to talk to him in private. Rod demands Matt to tell him what really happened at the night Elliot was shot, but Matt doesn't want to talk about it. Paul meets up with Leslie and accuses him for murdering Elizabeth.

Leslie visits Elliot at the hospital and promises to pay his medical bills. Elliot responds the only thing he wants is his name to be clean and Leslie promises him he will help him with that. Elliot collapses and Betty tells Mike she's afraid Elliot will die, because her father will be a murderer then. Mike himself informs Connie Elliot isn't doing well and she tries to comfort Elliot. Meanwhile, Leslie meets up with his lawyer Theodore and he admits he saw Catherine with a poke at Elizabeth's place around the time she was killed. Theodore mentions he thinks Leslie killed her himself and tries to put the blame on his dead wife. Betty tells Rodney Paul kept George company before he went to the Harrington house. She also mentions Elliot starts to hemorrhage and feels guilty about it.

Constance reveals to Allison Elliot is her biological father. She is in shock and storms out. Julie visits Leslie and forces him to tell what really happened the night of the shooting. She mentions she thinks Paul is responsible for what happened. Allison runs to Paul and tells him about her father. Paul suggests she should go to the hospital to visit him, but Allison responds she isn't ready to see him. Meanwhile, Claire asks nurse Choate what she knows about Dr. Rossi. Paul runs into Betty and she blames him for talking George into trying to shoot Leslie. Connie is worried about her daughter and seeks comfort with Matt at the hospital. Allison runs into them but ignores Connie. She visits Elliot and calls him father.

Elliot is operated for the second time. Connie begs her daughter not to ignore her. Paul is at Ada's place and she accuses him of wanting to kill Leslie. Nurse Choate introduces Betty to Claire. Betty and Claire talk and she makes clear she feels guilty for Elliot because of her father. She admits she is frightened and tells her she envies her. Meanwhile, Allison tells her mother she will never forgive her if Elliot dies. At the Morton house, Michael joins Robert for dinner. Claire has just received a letter from Dr. Vincent Markham in Peru, but she puts it away without opening it. Rod meets up with Paul at the tavern and he blames him for George trying to shoot Leslie. Paul reveals to him Leslie killed Elizabeth. At the hospital, Allison doesn't want to go home to her mother and asks Betty if she can stay at her place.

Connie tells Leslie she will take the diary to court. Rod walks into them and confronts his father with Paul telling him Leslie killed Elizabeth. Leslie assures him he didn't kill her, but admits he had an affair with her and his mother murdered her. Julie calls Connie and tells her Allison is at her place.

Connie goes to Elliot's cottage to pick up Elizabeth's diary, but is caught by Rodney, who admits he knows who killed Elizabeth. Constance reassures Rod his father loves him. Back at home, Leslie tells Rodney he will be out of town for a few days. When also Norman walks in, Leslie announces he loves them. At the hospital, Allison visits Elliot and tells him she wants to change her surname to Carson, but Elliot discourages her doing that. He pursues her to talk to her mother again, but Allison leaves without a response. Later that day, Constance comes to visit Elliot. Meanwhile, Claire wants to have a rain-check on her date with Michael and he is not glad with it. Leslie is meeting up with Matt and asks him to announce in the newspaper Leslie will resign from the Peyton Mills. Rodney interrupts them to drive his father to the White River Airport. Constance and Elliot admit they believe Leslie didn't kill Elizabeth.

Rod tries to tell Norman about Catherine, but he is unable to. Allison tells Mike she will return home. Mike responds he was at the hospital when Connie gave birth to her. Connie is delighted when she returns home and assures her she loves her since the moment she was born. Meanwhile, Claire reveals to her mother she is married to a man named Dr. Markham. A newspaper is released with an article that clears Leslie from the accusation of murdering Elizabeth. Paul is mad and Norman confronts his brother, who reveals Catherine was the murderer. Norman is shocked and can't believe him.

Allison confronts Paul with him always hurting other people. Paul next visits Elliot to celebrate Leslie leaving Peyton Place, but Elliot responds it isn't something to be glad about. Meanwhile, Betty is picking up her mother for lunch. She tells her mom Michael and Claire would be a good romantic match. Claire herself admits to her father she feels she has never lived up to his expectations. Leslie returns home to find out Norman thinks he has murdered Elizabeth. Rod makes clear he disagrees with Norman. Meanwhile, Elliot makes clear to Connie he is planning on having a future with her. Allison and Rod are out on a date and Rod tells her he doesn't ever want to leave Peyton Place. In the final scene, they walk hand in hand into the horizon.

Connie and Elliot are about to marry. Eli visits Peyton Place for the wedding. He warns his son, but Elliot assures him he is doing the right thing. Rod welcomes the family Schuster, who are moving into the Harrington house. David Schuster is about to take over the Peyton Mill Leslie once owned. When Rod leaves, David becomes mad at his wife Doris for being cold to Rod. Meanwhile, Julie and Betty are dressing up for the wedding and Betty recalls she is sorry she didn't have her wedding with Rodney in church. Allison is helping her mother getting into her wedding dress. Matt asks Michael if he regrets not being in Elliot's place, but he responds he doesn't mind. At Norman's new apartment, Norman confronts Rita with her pushing him away after he tries to kiss her. Rodney interrupts them and brings up he has received a letter from Leslie. However, Norman doesn't want to talk about his father. Meanwhile, Connie tries to help Allison putting her hat on, but Allison rejects her mothers help. This results in her accidentally breaking a vase. Constance becomes mad, which makes Allison leave.

All of the guest have arrived at the Wayside Church for Connie and Elliot's wedding, except for Connie. Before she gets in, Allison gives her a necklace. At the church, they are finally married. Meanwhile, the Schuster family move in their stuff in the former Harrington house. Betty becomes jealous when she sees Rodney dancing with Allison at the after party. Michael asks Betty to dance with him and later dances with Claire. Everyone seems to be happy, except for Norman. He gets a violent outburst and accuses everyone of being liars.

Connie and Elliot have left Peyton Place to go to Boston for their honeymoon. Matt invites Allison for dinner with him and Eli. She declines, saying she has a date with Rodney. Matt later meets up with David. Meanwhile, Doris and her daughter Kim visit the book store, where they meet Allison. Doris tells Allison Kim is deaf. When Allison is helping Doris, Kim secretly steals a bell from the store. In Boston, Connie and Elliot arrive in their hotel. Elliot tells her he wishes for her to open up to him. At the hospital, Doctor Morton tells Michael Norman is unable to accept his mother wasn't perfect. Allison is having dinner with Rod and they almost kiss. When he brings her back home, he asks her out for a painting party, but Allison rejects the idea.

Norman tells Rod he has bought a car, which does not please Rod. Rita has bought a new outfit to impress Norman, but Ada disapproves her daughter changing herself for someone else. Ada tells her she wants her to stop seeing Norman, but Rita responds she is not going to. They are interrupted with Norman, who is picking her up for a date. In the car, he tells her he doesn't think her new outfit is not her style. He kisses her, but she rejects him. Meanwhile, Doris finds the stolen bell from Kim. David notices Kim should never have come with them to Peyton Place, because he feels it is the reason she doesn't say anything. While Jerry flirts with Betty at the hospital, Allison meets David at the book store. He is bringing back the bell, but Allison insists he should keep it as a present.

Connie and Elliot have decided to extend their honeymoon for another day, but Allison isn't that pleased with it. Rod stops by Allison and yet again asks her out for the painting party, only to be rejected for a second time. Back at his apartments, Rodney is visited by Theodore Dowell. He urges Rod to look after Norman, who is going downwards since he found out about the truth of his mother. Meanwhile, Allison decides to come to the painting party after all. Norman is there as well, but still has a temper and leaves angry. At the former Harrington house, Doris tells David Kim's New York teacher Amy Warren refuses to move to Peyton Place to educate Kim. Doris suggests to send Kim to a school for deaf people in Boston, so she is surrounded with other people with the same condition. Kim secretly reads lips of her mother and is in total shock, deciding to run away from the mansion. David soon finds out his daughter isn't home and urges Doris to find her.

David and Doris are looking for Kim. David thinks she has run away from home because of them moving to Peyton Place. Because Doris wanted to move, David blames her for Kim running away. Meanwhile, Mike is out on a date with Claire. Mike is interrupted with a phone call from Matt, announcing Kim is missing and urging him to come to look for her. Claire returns to her home and find out she has received a letter from Dr. Vincent Markham, but doesn't open it. She admits to her mother she is lonely and likes Mike very much. At the painting party, Rita doesn't feel herself accepted by the people at the party now Norman has left. Allison urges Rod to be nice to her, before she leaves. The group at the party soon notice a lot of police cars driving down the street. Rita thinks it has got something to do with Norman, but soon finds out about Kim when she calls the police. Meanwhile, David and Michael are looking for Kim, but it is Allison who finds her at the shore and witnesses her saying "I hate mommy". Allison tries to win over her trust to bring her back home. Kim first struggles, but finally accepts Allison's help.

Norman visits the Harrington house to bring up memories and meets Doris, who herself is afraid since the disappearance of Kim. Allison is trying to call the Schuster family to inform Kim is at the book store with her, but she struggles. Rod visits them and successfully calms her down. Norman is keeping Doris company. She appreciates it and tells him he could come over anytime he wants. Soon David and Mike are also informed Kim is safe and well. David tells Mike he can't come up with a reason for Kim to have run away. Meanwhile, Betty tells her mother Jerry tried to ask her out. Claire meets up with Jerry. Allison and Rod bring Kim home. Finally there, Kim hugs Allison and ignores Doris. Doris becomes angry because of that and snaps at Rod, saying Norman tried to break in. Meanwhile at Boston, Connie and Elliot discuss their future together. Rod drives Allison home and she invites him in, but he kisses her and leaves.

Norman turns back to the apartment he shares with his brother. They get mad at each other and Rod confronts him with him going to the Schusters. David blames Doris for Kim having run away from home. They make up, but are interrupted by a scream from Kim. The next morning, David visits the MacKenzie-Carson house to apologize for his behavior last night. He tells Allison he thinks she is holding back something that happened when she found Kim last night. Allison yet again lies she can't remember. Meanwhile, Claire joins the staff of the hospital. Rod visits Doris and asks her what Norman has done last night. Later that day, Doris visits Allison at the book store to ask her if she wants to babysit Kim. She declines, explaining she wants to be there when her parents return home. Outside, she runs into Norman. He is mad at her for having said to Rod Norman was a bargain. That evening, Allison meets her parents again after their honeymoon.

Elliot and Connie ask Allison to join them for dinner, but she rejects, saying she has to babysit on Kim. Betty has to nurse Janet Sinclair, a former school mate who is now pregnant. Kim destroys a picture she made with her mother when Allison is babysitting. Meanwhile, Martin Peyton's limousine drops off Steven Cord, who checks into the inn. Rod and Norman notice the car, just like Doris.

Doris calls Allison, wanting to know how Kim is. Kim herself tries to run away again. Allison knows she is just doing it for attention and lets her. Kim decides not to leave. Mike, Rod and Norman are having dinner at a restaurant, but are interrupted by Theodore Dowell. Mike tells Norman he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself. Norman gets mad and leaves. Allison is trying to put Kim in bed, but she refuses to sleep. She eventually hears her making noises. Meanwhile, Steven Cord introduces himself to Theodore Dowell as Hannah Cord's son. He announces he has papers for Theodore from Martin Peyton. Janet is about to deliver and suffers a lot. Betty tries to calm her down, but it is Claire who succeeds in it. She later phones Michael, urging him to come to the hospital. Later, Steven hands Theodore over the papers and gives him a personal letter from Martin Peyton as well. He suggests Theodore to hire him, explaining he has no choice because of Steven's connections with Martin Peyton.

On their way home, Doris worries it'll only be a matter of time before people find out David was married to someone else before he married Doris. Steven visits Ada's tavern. She realizes he is Hannah Cord's son and warns him to leave Peyton Place as soon as possible. Rita witnesses the conversation and asks her mother about Steven. Ada changes the conversation and proposes her to go back to school. Meanwhile, Claire announces Janet gave birth to a son. She later talks to Michael about her past in Peru, including her marriage to Dr. Vincent Markham. At the former Harrington mansion, the Schusters come home and Allison admits Kim tried to run away. She reveals how she reacted to get her to change her mind and the Schusters are impressed. David brings her back home and there is introduced to Connie and Elliot. Elliot shows an immediate dislike in David.

Allison announces she will be a regular babysitter for Kim. Elliot isn't enthusiastic about it. David tells Doris he is going to have to fire a lot of employees at the mill. He also minds he noticed Elliot looking down on him. Meanwhile, Steven meets Norman and tells Martin Peyton doesn't believe Catherine is the one who killed Elizabeth Carson. Rod and Betty are reminded to the miscarriage when Janet gives birth to a son. Nurse Choate bothers Betty and she stands up for herself. Betty tells her she is fed up with her behavior towards her. Theodore makes clear he thinks Steven only once got into Harvard, because of his connections with Martin Peyton, but Steven assures him he did it all on himself. He allows Steven to work with him at the office.

After Steven and Theodore clash over a business thing, Steven meets Julie and Betty, who are there to discuss George. Theodore announces he is nowhere near recovering and wants him to be transferred to another institution. Julie tells Theodore she wants a divorce from him, but he responds she'll probably won't be allowed to, because insanity is not a ground. At the hospital, Claire admits she hasn't told her father yet about her marriage to Dr. Vincent Markham and Michael urges her to do. Allison tells her mother she hasn't had two minutes alone with her since she married Elliot. Doris visits David at his office and confronts him with him condemning her. David later goes to the Anderson house, wanting to talk to Julie.
