Below average and dull Eurospy movie co-produced by Italy , Spain, France
ma-cortes15 May 2023
An embarrassing and tiring Euro Thriller with a lot of tarnished actors delivering funcional interpretations , resulting to be an action movie with no much interest . Inferior and boring Eurospy with little action in which our protagonist an agent called Kurt Jackson (Stellio Candeli as Stanley Kent) has to go to Singapore to find a kidnapped scientist and an atomic formula so that it is not used for evil and destructive purposes . Along the way , Jackson meets a suspicious woman (Annabella Incontrera) who puts him through some treacherous set-ups . He also finds other dangers and treason , along with a pretty Oriental singer (Yoko Tani) who joins forces with him . At the end our hero has to go to a nearby island and at a pagoda he finally meets the abducted scientist , but then things go wrong.

A sub-par Euro spy with a silly , disconcerting intrigue about a missing scientist and an atomic formula , containing a few action scenes and without interest enough. The script often resembles 007 movies , being really a 'Bond' knock-off , especially from the first movies : ¨Dr No¨ , ¨From Rusia with love¨ , ¨Thunderball¨, but in low budget , with the starring suffering crosses and double-crosses and cat and mouse chases , solely for the reason of hiding their real most of them purports. There are some regularly staged action scenes as spectacular chases , fights , crossfire and anything else . Credits are slightly anglicized , mostly listed as America names . Acting tends to be a bit wooden , stars usual secondary Stelio Candelli as Stanley Kent , playing Kurt Jackson , a secret agent who travels to Singapore in search of a secret formula , but just about everyone he trusts ends up betraying him . In spite of being a weak starring he adds a decent and elegant look and there's a lot of charming actors tailoring their roles . Co-stars Eurotrash starlett Annabella Incontrera and Yoko Tani who had her best time with films as ¨The Savage Innocents¨ and ¨My Geisha¨ .

It packs atmospheric and evocative cinematography in Panavision and Eastmancolor by Spanish cameraman Emilio Foriscot , shot on location in Singapore . Although a perfect remastering being really necesary because of the film copy is worn-out . And a thrilling a musical score in the seventies style by Carlo Savina who was collaborator to Ennio Morricone .The motion picture was as painfully and slowly made by Ferdinando Baldi who often used pseudonym Freddy Baldwin . Direction by Ferdinando Baldi is lousily crafted and packing no too much action . Baldi was a expert Italian craftsman , in his films often made a nice camera work with clever choreography on the showdown , fighting , moving shootouts and thrilling scenes . Baldi directed all kind genres but especially Spaghetti Western , such as : "Carambola's Philosophy: In the Right Pocket" , "Django, Prepare a Coffin" , ¨Adios Texas¨ , ¨Rita in the West¨ and , of course , ¨Il Pistolero dell'Ave Maria" or USA original title "Forgotten Pistolero" at his best . And Peplum/historical genre , such as : ¨Orazi and Curiazi¨, ¨David and Goliath¨ , ¨The Tartars¨ , ¨Il figlio di Cleopatra¨, ¨In the shadows of eagles¨ , ¨The massacre of the forest of Teoteburgo¨¨ ; furthermore Thrillers as ¨Sicilian Connection¨ and the successful ¨The treasure of the four crowns¨ . Rating : 3.5/10 . Eurotrash connoisseurs will be disappointed . However , this exploitation material is worthy of some attention after all these years.

Far too leisurely

Warning: Spoilers
A Chinese scientist, who had just perfected a formula for "an atom bomb the size of a ping-pong ball", goes missing in Singapore. Good guys and bad guys from all over the world are looking for him; American secret agent Kurt Jackson is sent to Singapore to locate him before the bad guys do. His local contacts include Yoko Tani, while the villains include Annabella Incontrera, although she doesn't do much that villainous. "Goldsnake" starts out fairly well, but it gets worse as it goes along; the main problem is that it's far too leisurely for a spy movie, with almost every scene dragged out to twice its necessary length. It's also confusing at times, and doesn't get as much out of Yoko Tani's presence as it could. Very hard to find now (my copy is pretty poor), and for the most dedicated fans of the genre only. *1/2 out of 4

Very slow pace.

This is as slow as it gets. The Secret Agent tries to find a "secret formula" but the opposition kills everyone he talks to. After leaving a trail of dead bodies he finds the formula only to discover that the person who was helping him is also after the formula. The movie has good scenic shots and a few action scenes but not much else. Yoko Tani looks unusually seductive. The Secret Agent has the license 700 on his Jag.

The poorest Eurospy movie?
Leofwine_draca7 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Probably the poorest Eurospy movie I've yet watched. It sees our Italian hero heading off to Singapore in search of a secret formula thus predating Connery's trip to Asia in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE by a couple of years. Various uninteresting supporting characters turn up and pretend to help him only to prove more of a hindrance than an aid. A few random death scenes done in cheesy, low budget ways and below par action. Yoko Tani shows up as a femme fatale. It's very boring and I wouldn't recommend it.
