This Cartoon Needed Some Doctoring
ccthemovieman-12 May 2007
This cartoon doesn't exactly make hospitals look good. The opening scene is funny, even if the gag was predictable. The poor Panther has to run to the hospital himself to get service!

Once there, we see the Pink Panther and a sadistic old man in the bed next to him. Actually, the old man was the funniest part of this sub-par Pink Panther cartoon.

The jokes weren't really that good but the wheezing, sadistic laugh by the guy who seemed to delight in the Panther's problems was funny.

We also had the ironic twist at the end, which the Panther cartoons provide every now in then. Overall, this just didn't have the humor and the jokes you could see coming a mile away. It just wasn't up to the high standards of the Pink Panther.

Decent enough but nothing special
TheLittleSongbird5 September 2013
The Pink Panther cartoons are always entertaining and worth seeing, and The Pink Pill is hardly one to completely dismiss. But it really doesn't see the Pink Panther series at its best. The story does lack energy at times and is rather routine too. The ending is ironic but not hugely funny and abruptly rounded off. That it may have been a little better with what happens to the characters reversed is a good suggestion. And sadly the best of the gags(the opening scene and the wheezing laugh) are just amusing and little more, on the most part they're predictable and rather standard. The animation however is very nicely done, simple without being too simplistic, coloured in an elegant way without feeling too over-saturated and there are little signs of half-heartedness or that it was hurried. The characters are well drawn. The music is beautifully scored and catchy, hearing the theme tune you can understand completely why it's so iconic. Pinky is still his likable and cool self, and even with the scenario he is funny. The support he has support him very well and none of it feels pointless. Overall, decent but not that great sadly. 6/10 Bethany Cox

Not the best Pink Panther-short
rbverhoef28 December 2003
'The Pink Pill' is not the best short movie from the pink panther I have seen. The pink panther is in the hospital after he slipped by his own stupid mistake. Instead of getting better in there he is only getting more disabled. Although it is pretty entertaining it has no real big laughs and therefore it also is a little disappointing. Still, I give it 6 out of 10.

The hospital is no place to be sick.!

Warning: Spoilers
This short takes place in my least favorite locale-a hospital. That makes the gags a bit more pointed for me and makes it a bit less funny in spots. Because I want to discuss specifics gags, here there be spoilers:

The Pink Panther winds up getting hurt and ends up in the hospital with the world's most obnoxious room mate. I'd force-feed this guy prunes and hide his call button. The Pink Panther then winds up being subjected to the tender "mercies" of the hospital staff. He learns the downside of switching patient charts, inattentive nurses taking your blood pressure and the problems which come from full-body casts. He's the victim of an insane hospital bed and becomes a pin-cushion, in what is an old standard gag in animation. It had whiskers twenty years before this short was made.

The ending is one I don't care for-I personally would have switched it around and had the Pink Panther emerge the one with the last laugh.

This short is available on the Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection and is probably worth seeing once, though the collection itself is excellent. Recommended for completists.

The poor suffering panther!
OllieSuave-00716 July 2016
The Pink Panther slips on his own banana pill and is admitted to a hospital, where he is roommates with this jerk of a man who gratifies in seeing the panther suffer through injections, surgery and injuries. I thought it was pretty funny that the panther got to eat the man's big meals and toy with the controls of his bed, but, I can't believe that the man got the last laugh by hitting the panther's injured leg with his cane.

Overall, not a very funny Pink Panther cartoon and one that saw the panther get the bad end of just about everything. Actually, it's one of the worst panther cartoons I've seen.
