Silly and ridiculous Spanish comedy with embarrassing and absurd incidents
ma-cortes30 November 2020
Below average comedy with entertaining and funny as well as disconcerting set pieces. It deals with Consuelo nicknamed Chelin , Concha Velasco , she wants to marry her old childhood friend, Manolo Cortes : Alfredo Landa . Then , she leaves her boyfriend Mauricio : Enrique Ávila, and decides to go Madrid where lives Manolo . But Manolo results to be a playboy who loves easy life and has a lot of debts, as his creditors have been chasing him . While Manolo goes to all kinds of parties along with his friend Bernabe : José Sacristan, and brings brothel girls : Josele Roman to his flat .

This is a lousy and spicy comedy based on a play by prolific playwright Juan José Alonso Millan, and script by regular director Mariano Ozores. An inferior comedy in spite of having two greatest actors , Alfredo Landa and Concha Velasco who if give nice acting ,however the storyline is such bad configured that the picture turns out to be a real flop. The film benefits itself from a nice support cast such as Jose Sacristan, Margot Cottens , Josele Roman, Enrique Ávila, Xan Das Bolas , Angel Álvarez , Emilio Laguna and special mention for the veteran Julia Caba Alba giving a likeable acting as a spinster servant.

The movie packs an atmospheric cinematography by Federico Larraya and mostly shot in interior scenarios . And evocative and slight musical score by Antonio Pérez Olea . The motion picture was badly directed by Jose Luis Saenz de Heredia and in Mariano Ozores style . This fimmaker was a classic Spanish director who in his last times made mediocre comedies . Heredia was a controversial figure in Spain because of his strong and unabashed support to dictator Francisco Franco. He was a prolific writer and directed getting gret successes in the forties and fifties as El Escándalo, Raza , El destino se disculpa , Bambú, Mariona Rebull, Las Aguas bajan Negras , La Mies es mucha , Don Juan , Los ojos dejan huellas , Historias de la Radio, Faustina, Diez fusiles esperan . Throughout the Sixties he made a number of comedies usually starred by Paco Martinez Soria , Manolo Escobar , Lina Morgan, Alfredo Landa or Concha Velasco with whom had a long artistic relationship , such as : Pero en que país vivimos , El Taxi de los conflictos, Relaciones casi públicas, Se armo el Belen, Don Erre que Erre , La verbena de la Paloma, La decente , Me debes un muerto, Cuando los niños vienen de Marsella , Solos ante el Streaking, among others .
