Because she didn't look old enough to be convincing as Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra's mother, Raveena opted out of Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do.
Says a source, "Zoya was very keen to have Raveena in Anil Kapoor's wife's part. But when Raveena did a photo-shoot she looked like Priyanka's sister rather than mother. Zoya suggested that Raveena put on weight and add wrinkles on her face through makeup. Raveena didn't relish the idea. That was when Shefali was brought in."
Raveena, informs a close friend of hers, not only turned down Zoya's film, she also turns down lucrative ads which require her to endorse domestic products with children. Raveena Tandon knows playing a mother on screen of any size and in any format is the end of her career as a leading lady."

After Kahaani, a missing husband seems to be the new formula in Bollywood. Some time ago Jaya Bachchan had expressed the desire to do a remake of her 1973 film Phagun written and directed by Rajinder Singh Bedi, where Waheeda Rehman's husband played by Dharmendra goes missing. Jaya had played the daughter. The remake, we hear, will star Jaya in the role that Waheeda Rehman immortalized. In the meanwhile, another interesting film about a woman's search for her missing husband seems to be quietly being shot in several exotic out-of-the-way spots of North India including Shimla and Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, it stars the supremely gifted actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui who also played a pivotal role in Kahaani. Nawazuddin is now gearing up to shoot for a very unusual road film called Liar Dice, directed by the Malayalam actress-director Geetu Mohandas. His co-star is the Sikkimese model-actress Geetajanli Thapa who plays a...
